lunch at the naval Club the new uh leg of The Adventure Starts 55 years later 55 years 55 years later still holding [Music] [Music] okay uh fun tidbit of information we're here to collect my dat at the airport we noticed it's a little bit busier today and what have we just learned well we do know that the Spanish channel was getting popular so at first I thought well they're here to see your dad of course no the Jonas brothers are coming yeah and you know I'm so out of the loop and have been for I guess decades I wouldn't even know what they look like if they came out this so there's going to be no Fan Fair coming from me unfortunately meanwhile there's hundreds of people lining up there waiting to catch a glimpse yeah I guess they're playing a show we did notice the there was a poster that was saying but uh yeah I have no idea what they look like that is really funny it's very funny yeah I'm out of the loop guys sorry out of the loop so here here is the crowd Gathering behind the taxi stand so the the funny part worth mentioning is that just like average people are coming out and people are just cheering for them as though they were the Jonas random people walking by no Jonas journey yeah today is Wednesday I left my house in Alberta uh Monday at uh lunchtime I did one night in Calgary at a hotel and then Calgary Toronto Toronto sa Paulo sou Pao buenos a so I'm still DIY from the uh from the flight yeah and uh we came to this place to eat the best pizza in the world you can need in Argentina huh they one from Napoli don't tell me anything because they have to come over here to try it and then they can speak about it best pizza in the world you can eat in Argentina only yes or no samel you're take a look at this coolest thing about the pizzer is in Argentina is that a lot of them are either 100 years old or close to it this one's been around you can see Des day 1934 yeah so 90 years old just celebrated 90 years old you take a look around you have all the football players football jerseys boing Maradona that kind of vibe kind of Frozen in time yeah and the good thing about it is that in this country the pizza is the thick one you can eat it with a knife and a for is not the limping North American Pizza that you have to fold into and all that oil you know runs from it no here is a different story so now when they bring it uh to the table we're going to show you we're going to show you and you're going to see what I'm talking about okay but uh I haven't eaten much in the trip other than a few crackers and some water so I'm going to stick three slices of pizza into meat today sounds good sounds good this is an art because if you press the button too hard you spray it everywhere yeah oh we ran out of gas do a little do it the old fashioned way the old fashioned way get it out that way there we go Bringing new life into the celesy you got to earn it Pap know or not a little bit more it's called the medara it's a medium jar of the house red wine oh yeah look at that at need a need a sword all right the pizza's arrived check this out we've already been serving it and we have done what do you guys think very very good I'm having the anchoi pizza with tomato sauce no cheese nicely salty one of my favorites that one is loated with onions and cheese fugazetta fugazetta my dad's having H and cheese and we still have the napolitana on its way enjoying it so far the difference why this pizza is so good it's in the cheese the mozzarella here is is got a flavor I don't know what it is is not the kind of mozzarella you find in other countries delicious pizza very good we got we got a bit more common too so yum all right guys this is our first breakfast in Buenos Iris we all got the exact same thing the classic three medal Lunas these soft buttery sweet glaze croissants we have the cafe coffee with milk a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice my dad is here well rested the cant in Buenos AES this is an experience okay you fall in love with them every morning all over again they are so soft and buttery and they have the sweet glaze on top it's amazing that's why people when they come to this country they gain weight everyone gains weight here every tourist that land in Argentina goes back home with 6 seven lb extra I I think Sam can can you a test literally every time but it's so good it's so worth it and we're going to walk it off today we're going to walk it off so I don't feel guilty about consuming these three so let's enjoy [Music] [Music] a [Music] okay Naval Naval Club beautiful building it's I thought we were walking into a museum D I know we're going to have lunch here yeah it's fancy oh made of wood and detailing of the wall oh actually actually Clips in [Music] there a bit hard [Music] [Applause] [Music] person yeah [Music] all righty guys so today we are having lunch at the naval Club this is the this is the executive menu or special lunch menu each got something different my dad was dreaming of a milanesa a schnitzel yeah this in Argentina called milanesa it's like a schnitzel or a you know breaded uh beef yeah oh I was coming on on that plane dreaming that I was eating one of these the flight attendant wakes me up and I said sir sir what's wrong with you you're screaming and I was drooling like that you know and said okay is the milanesa that I'm dreaming of Milan not not the plastic that garbage they serving you on the plane all right and yeah I got the bondola so you can see there's two nice Pie cuts over here it's got yeah it's pork it's got gravy with some onions I got potatoes and carrots nice it also came with um wine a cup of wine so that's great so cheers you guys cheers to that cheers some free wine lovely you can get the red or the white they also have sodas and other things yeah so yeah these pop this menu this menu activo which is the executive menu in Argentina and something that's really popular for lunch I remember the first time I was and bunar even before I met you I remember seeing these specials and they have them at a lot of the different restaurants it's a complete set menu sometimes you get an appetizer like dinner rolls or something else you get a main drinks and a dessert and often a coffee too so great value meal and actually it's the best value meal you can get better than dinner so consider lunch yeah and then I'll show you mine I got the chicken breast with a creamy leak sauce and this is like a mashed potato swirl and some veggies so we're going to enjoy Bona Petit everyone enjoy your meal this is the naval Club Naval Club this is a a a club from the Argentinian uh Navy Navy and I guess for the the people you know the officers and stuff like that this is a the cloud they have and you should see what it looks like like other parts of the building wow but anyway can have lunch here you don't need lunch here you don't have to be a member of the military or the Navy or whatever yeah they even let us in they love you just have to dress a little bit nice I I put away the shorts and t-shirts for the day exactly just a button- down shirt and nice pants let me in B so many options the desserts are here here so I got a pair in a wine sauce I'm trying something completely different it's called the floating island Isa flotante it looks like it's a like a foam cake it has an egg based mering and a little bit of caramel spread it looks awesome yeah yeah apparently it's a specialty of the house egg whites and sugar my dad I have a friend why Daniel always one step ahead I brought it up a notch look at that to put on top of the you can put an extra order yeah these two are like twins they go together you know one is not good without the other one yeah a nice variety of desserts so we had three different Mains and we had three different desserts it's great [Music] [Music] physic yes yesterday we be le just devoured it [Music] [Applause] [Music] la [Music] back at our favorite Bon here it's called El Norte absolute classic place here they have all the Argentine dishes yeah we've been coming here for almost 10 years now on and off but the last time we were here was in 2019 so it's been a really long time and it's so nice to be back in here the atmosphere hasn't changed a bit which is a good thing I've ordered something called U matre alap Pizza it's a kind of a meat dish and then with pizza toppings on top so picture of pizza instead of dough there's a piece of meat exactly so the crust is the meat and um I had it one time in Bramton your dad made it but it's my first time to have it in Argentina so I saw on the menu I'm like I'm going to mix it up a bit mixing it up all righty and what are you getting well given the fact that tomorrow we have to travel by bus for about uh 6 7 hours yes I'm going to go light light I was looking at the noi I was looking at the spaghetti I was looking they have some good uh stew here and I go no I'm gonna go for a milanesa with a fries milanesa is the Schnitzel but listen the servings here they are monstrosity okay right now A milanesa with the fries is 5,000 pesos which is $5 us but now when they bring the dish I'm going to show it to you and you cannot go wrong with that one okay so yeah I decided to stay on the light side you know he says light but he got French fries with it so it's like a relatively light for Argentina okay and what do you want you know to eat the to eat the schnit like this raw no you have to have something like an order of a a side order but you can also get um mashed potato mhm a mashed uh pumpkin pumpkin Mash puree made from pumpkin they also have it from uh sweet potato and you can have a salad that's what I'm going to have and for dessert oh he's thinking of dessert my oh my okay I mean we need to eat a dessert here okay maybe I don't know dulche with a h rice pudding okay we'll see what's available all right how's that Audrey massive honestly this is an individual portion but it could feed two people it's a lot of meat a lot of chicken and the chicken is so juicy so tender it's just wonderful squeeze a bit of lemon on top yeah and then the fries the fries yeah got to love it huh can't go wrong with it my dad got the meat version there you have it check that out why do you like that yeah amazing five bucks five bucks yeah the best five bucks including the bread the best five bucks you've ever spend oh yeah your whole life about it and this is Sam's meat pizza check this out guys it's got the cheese it's got the tomato sauce it's got the seasonings oregano that's delicious oh going to be very filling too I know and potato too what kind of pizza brings you outside of potato that's Hardy oh my I could do it one day we have to do it I can do it oh yeah all right guys we're going to show you what these food trays look like I cannot believe we demolished these portions that was insane but I let me tell you something it was extremely good all that for five bucks no other place in the world but if you push me and you challenge me I could have another one just like this a second serving and one more of these and one more of this of course okay but I don't know when I come over here and I come to these places you feel like you finally are getting back what you were missing you know we go to restaurants in Canada and everything but over there is a different story it's hush hush a restaurant everyone is say Whispering don't make noise don't bother your neighbor and you come over here and you hear the noise from the kitchen the next tables are everybody's talking at the same time there is like a kind of like a confusion but a nice confusion and the waiters come and they stay by the side of the table and they talk to you and they interact you know and this is the stuff that I've always been missing you know it's it's a different world you know as much as we try over there and you feel good and it's nice and everything you want but there is this Essence that is missing and uh here you find it you know you come back and you find it and you say ah this this feels normal natural this feels like you know people interacting everybody getting into the you know into the thing and uh yeah and now to kind of settle the meal down some people drink a digestive teas and stuff like that but I'm going to have a cheese and um dul de batata it's a sweet potato dessert dessert that comes you know is pretty good and S is going to order a FL with do and that's going to be ouro you know like our digestive uh Kake so we got three different desserts my dad went for the cheese and like a sweet potato dessert type thing it's very very classic very traditional here in Argentina very classic dessert here in Argentina the cheese is like a soft cheese like a like a Brie or like a cird even more creamy and on top they do this thing that is made out of sweet potato but if you taste it and I don't tell you that this is a sweet potato dessert you will never guess it yeah and these are the things that we cannot get in Alberta like I mean doesn't matter how much you try I miss it and I was thinking coming over and now my dream came true his dream came true In the Flesh this is the little thing that an immigrant even after 55 years outside of the country you'll never forget and you always think about it and when you come back you need to come back to the to those flavors to those smells of your childhood you know and for some reason we may think that you forget about it but as soon as you smell it it's like in the back of your head the computer it kicks in and you know it's still there e so yeah look at this this is how you do it half and half okay a piece and a piece like this there and you eat it I don't know who invented this but it's the perfect Balan combination so if you ever come here to visit ask for queso cheese and sweet and always I mean I like the um the sweet potato uh sweet but they also have it made out of Queens it's another type it's different but it's still good what else can I tell you look at samel FL and it's overflowing it's like a the the mountain it's like the volcano with spewing up the dul dul is lava we're sharing all the desserts my Dad's getting some flan got the tiam misu Sam's going to try the y I'm going to kick it up a notch look oh we're we're getting experimental here a lot of flavors with on top a lot of textures right there he's right at home guys I died and went to heaven yeah good morning we are back in the apartment in the Airbnb here in the kitchen so now we're going to make the sandwiches because we are taking a bus at 2:00 in the afternoon to go visit the city where I grew up my dad's Hometown neocha neocha so it's a 7-hour bus ride we'll arrive there by 10 p.m. and given the fact that this is a seaside resort uh tourism oriented City and now we are out of the tourism uh season season I doubt it if we're going to be staying by the beaches we're going to find anything open at 1 p.m. exactly so we better bring something to hold us up until tomorrow and we are going to make some sandwiches we have some uh what we have here all righty so we got some some buns these are kind of like hot dog buns but they work for sandwiches got some uh ham some salami cheese a little bit of mustard and also we have some cookies those are like sweet potato filled cookies oh these are good they called pepitas you start with this and I can guarantee you you're not going to stop until this is gone they're addictive you know so very dangerous thing and now we also have some um cheese bread kind of thing yeah and we have for Samuel a jar of coffee for tomorrow morning yeah so he can be regular he said he said he said I need my coffee to be regular and also of course we have some uh bottle water water yeah and uh yeah I think uh with this we can go face the music and uh we'll be okay till tomorrow morning the new uh leg of The Adventure Starts and uh yeah I'll be talking about in the next coming videos in the city of neocha because I will like to give you an idea of what was like growing up in the late 50s early 60s in a small City here in uh the province of Buenos Iris Argentina and uh What uh was life like back then you know like uh compared to today's younger Generations that they don't know or they don't understand but uh H things were tough so we'll we'll bring you along we'll do all the walking and all the things that we used to do and you'll see it's going to be interesting so I hope you stay and you follow the next videoos so you get an idea where Audrey's ancestry come from kind of you know sounds good it'll be fun I'm looking forward to it I've never been to neoa before so this is my first time seeing where you grew up I haven't been there back since we left the country in 1970 so my last uh state in Neo was the summer of uh 1970 ER January mid February 1970 so it's like 55 years ago I haven't been back I I never went back so it's about time uh to do it now before uh time uh takes his toll and you cannot move very freely you know sounds good okay let's do these sandwiches let's do it okay so before we check out little room tour we're leaving things to the last minute you can see that my hair is wet so this place means a lot to us because it has like the super nostalgic Factor this is where I brought my parents like this was 2016 if you can believe that yeah so the first time we came to Argentina with Sam and his parents we stayed in this very apartment literally in this apartment and it really hasn't changed also while you give us the tour I'll mention the price hasn't changed we we're paying $38 for this place it's amazing so you can see that this room is just basic we have a nice this would be considered a double bed here come to the bathroom here toilet bedet every apartment has a bedet it's a little wedding here cuz everyone's been having their showers and so this is what's really interesting in here is you have what would be the equivalent of two couches that can be converted into single beds like you just take this you grab some of the bedding you throw a blanket on top it functions as a living room and also as a portable bedroom and how you get privacy is you're just able to close these doors like this and you close this one here and look at that voila you have a makeshift bedroom you have a makeshift bedroom technically you could have four people sleeping here you could have two in the big bedroom and two two others in the single so just come over here you can see all of our stuff's here Dad's here waiting to catch our our taxi yeah we're we're leaving and like man we got to make this quick so you can tell I'm just sort of rushing this this is just a dining table area a TV we never turn on the TV and let's go look at the kitchen quickly this is like deja vu is exactly how it was when we were here they have complimentary tea and coffee as well so that's awesome and last but not least a fridge in a freezer you could cook if you wanted to of course we go out and enjoy all the nice restaurants in this area one of the best places to eat and guys that is the fastest room to where going down very quickly it was a neat Journey we kind of went through the outskirts of blaris yeah and then into the Papas yeah those would be the Argentine prairies it's very flat we've seen lots of cattle we seen More Cows than people on this trip yeah cows and sheep beautiful Farmland just as far as the eye can see it reminds us a lot of the Canadian prairies like driving through saskat and Alberta yeah what's different is they have a lot of palm trees here like it's prairies and palm trees yeah and they have these like random like gated communities and like just towns that kind of just pop out of nowhere sometimes it'll be like farmland for as far as I can see and then boom suddenly you have this town unannounced like it's so so interesting [Music] so we have just arrived here in nikoa it is around 10 p.m. we dropped off our luggage it turns out I bugged a studio apartment so all three of us are sleeping together in a living room pretty funny and um yeah we're just heading out in search of ice cream going to have a little bite here we have a the bakery I think it's called La Serena the siren siren let's see if it's still here the siren the siren is still there still here maybe we can do breakfast here tomorrow I don't know if they serve coffee they do breakfast the siren the siren the Sera Thea it's still here 55 years later 55 years 55 years later it's still holding and over there is the church where I did the first uh kindergarten oh Kindergarten yeah kindergarten we we did in that Church they had a kindergarten oh wow oh look at that this is the square there's a lot there's a lot to see yeah that thing still here it was there watch there's a car there's a car yeah this thing is still here look used to be a a kiosk that sold the candy and stuff like that over here well guys we are having dinner at almost 11:00 p.m. this is unheard of for me but here in Argentina that's just the way it goes bus for so long we're like we got to go walk around and then we're like we got to go eat so we're eating and what's did you get I got the rabas which is a calamari I guess I'm a blacked outout we normally have wine but we decided to go with the beer I got the equivalent of a fish and chips my dad got the same now how what's the name of this fish in English that's the question Mera is Mera it's um is that one hate hate I think it's hate ha okay but I'm fighting to open this his little ketchup this ketchup thing it says open here but the the fish the fish is making it hard for you because it's saying I only require lemon there I opened it over here I
