what is up guys and welcome back to my channel on today's vlog i am taking you to explore trinco above and below the water hello viewers why you are scared that i woke up [Music] good morning guys we're starting off today's vlog in a very historic site on the island girihandu saya kirehandu saya is found in the town of thiriy which is 40 kilometers north of the city of trinkemali we chose to head to the temple early morning to make the most of our first morning here and enjoy the beautiful sunrise on the east coast so there is some debate about where the eight hairs of lord buddha his first relics were actually placed some debate that it was myanmar and others debate that it was sri lanka making one of these places one of the first two pearls in the world [Music] here in sri lanka right next to the stupa we have an inscription dating back to the 8th century bc the inscription is written in a sanskrit language but does not resemble any other languages in south india but is similar to the language that is used in the inscriptions at segeria the inscription states that a guild of seafaring merchants led by trapusaka and wallika were the ones who bought the eight hairs of lord buddha to trinkemali and placed it here in this region the names change but the story remains the same that the eight hairs of lord buddha are enshrined here at girihan the saiya making it one of the first stupas in the world and also making it one of the stupas that were built during the lord buddha's lifetime as you can imagine this is a place of great importance to buddhists it is also worth noting that it is a quiet calm and peaceful place perfect for meditation [Music] this week we were invited by ooga escapes to check out their spectacular jungle beach resort in the quiet town of kutcher valley which is 15 kilometers north of trinkeman [Music] if you are looking to stay in the lap of luxury whilst in trinkemali trust me guys it does not get better than this property which has its own private beach and jungle with private cabins nestled amongst them [Music] hi guys so it is lunch time and we are here at fabulous vegan taco dish and is having nasi goreng one thing to note about the chef here jungle beach chef mark is absolutely amazing if you have any special dietary requirements he's more than happy to accommodate for you i've had some amazing dishes here one thing to note about tringo it is super blistering hot from like 10 a.m to like 3 p.m my recommendation is that you put all your activities early morning little late evening and nap during the day so following to that plan we are going to be going for some evening activities we've got some evening plans and some nice things to share with you guys stay tuned [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] so we are at the cornerstone temple this temple is ancient and has been built in 205 bc pre-colonial times and has a very long history and has been worshipped by many hindu people from sri lanka and abroad as well it is a very important site for all hindus as well as one of the most important hindu temples on the island the konishan temple is referred to in ancient texts as a thousand pillared hall it was one of the greatest structures of its time and it was built entirely out of black granite megaliths massive stones then built this temple up on the hillside of trinkum alley also known as gokanna back in that time unfortunately the splendor of this place is something we'll never be able to see for ourselves because the original structure was brought right to the ground during the colonial religious wars and the remnants of the black granite was used to build ford frederick so when you look at that you know that you're looking at the remnants of the punishment temple the temple of course is worshipped far and wide it's one of the most important temples on the island its main benefactors are the sri lankan tamil community but there is also very large community of sinhalese worshipers who also patronize temple and that's actually something that we saw both here and that nandu kovil as well but the temple is not reserved only for the tamil community there is a very long history of both communities and tamil visiting these temples and worshipping them so this is a definite must when you're in tranquil guys because this temple holds a lot of history and is definitely worth the visit you actually have to enter fort frederick to come to this temple so that's two girls in one stone you also get to visit port frederick and as you enter the temple you come across lava sleep which is also another site that is worth checking out [Music] when i stare into the night i can see the burning life shifting slow from red to green sweet sweet dreams every breath means letting go hey guys we are at dinner right now we've got a fabulous spread very very filling dinner it's going to be but the food has been amazing we've had a bit of a long day so we're super tired we're eager to get to bed and there's something very exciting happening tomorrow it's a little scary for me uh it's the first time for the both of us it's something to do with the water but it's gonna be very adventurous i can't wait to share it with you i'll see you in the morning tomorrow [Music] [Music] what's happening uh we are doing the paperwork before uh going for uh both of our first diving lessons your life away yes signing my legendary currently uh actually it's my first time and i'm slightly nervous so i thought i'd tell you that absolutely okay so remember how i told you guys i'm doing something that's gonna make me a little nervous we are here at the epic ocean diving center and we are going to be learning how to dive so we're gonna have a few classes a class [Music] [Music] so the first skill we need to learn how to recover a regulator get okay i'm ready and go out in the ocean it is about 7 30 right now water looks great doesn't change the fact that i'm nervous because it's my first time uh yeah but this is the great thing about having a youtube channel guys you have to push yourself to do things that you know are not in your comfort zone because i have to share them with you guys because i want to share them with you guys and that's also one of the reasons why i started the channel so this is just another one of those things i'm going to conquer and take you guys along so hope you enjoy it so how do you want to take it to the we are going to carry it up to the boat do you want like a backpack uh yeah how do you recommend if you want karate style you carry it like this in one shoulder like that in style yeah so what do you recommend should i go for style faster see how can i see it's heavy how is it it's okay it's not too heavy yeah i've been trained with a camera [Music] ready to go [Music] hey guys so we have now finished our run-through and we are at the training zone we are going to get in and practice everything that we just went through and then we will go on to the main dive [Music] so far so good he told me something really interesting to stay calm which is to think about it like yoga [Music] and then just come breathe once we were in the water and training i was really starting to feel the panic setting in i had this fear of not being able to breathe properly through my mouth but it was too late for me to turn back i didn't want to ruin for shayhan who was very excited so i made up my mind to go ahead with it but once ram gave the go ahead that we were clear to go in and we started heading into the water the panic went into overdrive and i just immediately felt like i needed to get out of the water i insisted that ram and shahan go ahead and do the dive without me but fortunately ron calmed me down and told me to give it one more try [Music] [Laughter] all right [Music] [Music] down [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] down [Music] [Laughter] all right you guys so we just finished our first dive and oh my god it was so epic i had a little bit of a meltdown in the beginning i was feeling a little uh claustrophobic in the water to be honest a little panicky and i came out as we started and told the guys look i can't do it ramshand you guys go ahead and this is where it this is where it's really important to have somebody who knows what they're doing who's very experienced taking you out especially when it's your first time ram calmed me down and asked okay what is wrong what is the reason that you don't want to go in why are you panicking he made me say it out loud and told me look just hold my hand i'll take you in and if there's anything anytime you feel like you want to go out just tap me and we'll go you're in good hands and that made me feel really safe and so i agreed to go in one more time and that was the best decision of my life i saw some of the most amazing coral i've never seen anything like that before because you just can't see stuff like that when you're snorkeling we went down to about nine meters massive coral like i just said i just i thought it was like some sunken ship or something it was just a completely like a whole other world it felt like a dream because we couldn't communicate with each other and we were just using sign language and saying yeah it was awesome so wow you guys and this is what i say this is why i have a youtube channel so i'm forced to push myself out of my comfort zone and have amazing experiences because i want to share everything with you guys and i hope you guys enjoyed the footage and if you want to try if you want to try out diving for the first time i would highly recommend epic ocean adventures and ram really awesome so we're just back from our diving session and we've worked up an appetite for sure ooga has organized a really awesome cooking demonstration for us but there's a little twist usually when we do these demonstrations we get a first-hand experience of making a local rice and curry dish something like that but today the chef has actually organized he's going to show us how to make a taco and a salad all using local ingredients and that's something that's really interesting about django beach and all the properties they are very very focused on supporting local and sustainability so everything you find here at the property has been sourced locally so everything is fresh and everything is supporting a local community so i think that is a fantastic point to highlight with that let's get in and see what chef mark has in store for us hi born my name is mark chef from jungle beach welcome here so today what i'm going to do is it's a small vegan salad ginger little bit of garlic [Music] you need to mix the salad so you guys the chickpeas are half good tomatoes [Music] okay not too much [Music] anyway it's ready you can see that [Music] okay this is our vegan salad so i'm inviting everyone to come and enjoy our vegan salad wow okay thank you this is gorgeous it looks so delicious and i love the creative way of using local ingredients and the different types of ways of putting this dish together that are like different components and i've tried a few of these dishes that are similar and all of it when it comes together gives such an amazing flavor you can't imagine you're eating just a vegetarian or a vegan dish it's actually mind-blowing so definitely give this a try at home and make sure you use whatever you have at hand as well as whatever you can find locally because that's the essence of this kind of dishes [Music] hi guys welcome to our room one thing we love about uga properties are their rooms they have a very distinct style to them and honestly some of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept on [Music] here at jungle beach each of the cabins are one with nature and spread out across the jungle the outdoor shower is a definite highlight at this property but be cautioned you definitely want to close your doors at all times to avoid any uninvited guests in your room remember even though you're in the lap of luxury you're still in the middle of a jungle [Music] and let me show you guys the best part come on [Music] we have our own private entrance to the beach [Music] do [Music] so [Music] all right guys so we are finally doing what you're supposed to do when you're in an east coast town by the beach in high season sipping a cocktail having some manoka chips or cassava chips and just enjoying the sunset on the beach absolutely perfect i wish i had time to do more of this but i'm definitely going to be making time to jump in the ocean for a sunrise swim before we make it out of here tomorrow all right guys so it is dinner time we are having it out by the beach bar we're gonna be having a beautiful jungle beach resort it has been absolutely amazing you guys know that i love the jungle and the beach and this property is a combination of boats is definitely my favorite out of the ugga properties and i must say that if you're someone that's looking to vacation in the maldives this might actually be a good substitute for that why don't you drop into sri lanka on your way there because you've got the beach as well as the jungle and a lot of other activities to do right around the area as well the sea is amazing this time of the year so it's definitely something to think
