Welcome to another episode from Tibet. we are in a different part of Lhasa today not in the city look around me right now and I'll let the views do all the talking beautiful 4D mountains down there I cannot get enough of the scenery we are a few kilometers away from Lhasa outside of the city when I say a few I mean at least 10 plus not that far but It's amazing how the scenery changes straight away the minute you come out of the city. Wow.

As with everything Tibetan, just remember there will be lots and lots of steps and we're ready for another day of an intense leg workout. I don't know if we're ready, but we're here. This lady is selling something. Hello. What is this? What is this? Yeah, Incense. Incense.

Nima, our main guy, he's here as well today. This is incense burner. Yeah. After that, then you can put the Tsampa made out of barley? Yeah, from the barley powder. OK, Yeah.

Put some water. OK. Yeah. What is this for? Blessing? For Purification. Purification. Yeah. You should put some water for purification.

OK, so this is what I was talking about. As with everything Tibetan, just remember there will be a lot of steps involved, especially when it comes to monasteries. I remember in one of the earlier vlogs when we went to Potala Palace, I was saying, the level of fitness, it doesn't have to be too high.

Can I just go back on my words and say you need some sort of physical fitness before thinking about coming to Tibet? Firstly, you have to contend with the altitude because this is 3700 meters and You've got non-stop steps because monasteries are always built on an ascent going up and that is Lhasa city over there. So wow, we have travelled quite a bit. Nima was just saying that he likes this monastery because in the winter when it's not busy and there's not many people around, he comes with his son and they make the kora around the monastery. It's not too much of a challenge, but when you're walking and talking.

And you're going up this steep gradient, which honestly doesn't look that steep on camera, but trust me, it is. The monastry has different colleges here and they study different things too. Different college here, here. One college. Yeah, one college.

So this whole place is the monastery? Yeah. Wow. It's huge. So it's like the university, right? Where are we right now? Here Now we are here. Around here. Yes, this place somewhere. We're just there. OK.

And where are we supposed to go? Up here? Yeah, we're going here and here OK. Oh, OK. Yeah. Quite a bit of walking. This is fascinating so far. Wow. Yeah. I was just about to say these paintings up here

are unbelievable. Crazy. I wonder how somebody got up there to paint that. I'm just thinking people who've actually painted this, I just said the same. They would have had quite a challenge on their hands to get up there, right and paint it. It's really beautiful to see though, especially from a distance. These mountains, I just can't get over them too.

There's also another painting just on the rocks up here too. I don't know if you guys can see, but I see a cave somewhere over here, Tibet, As a whole, so far, the scenery has been unparalleled. It's so beautiful. It reminds us, it's quite similar to the landscapes in Nepal, but it's different in its own right for sure. Stunning. OK, we're going up more steps.

We're going to go and check out more of this beautiful monastery. But here is the view of Lhasa City. If you think this is incredible, wait till you see what's on the other side. Have a look at this.

Wow. So that is the monastery, right? Yeah, yeah. Then you can see the white color, all the white color is where the monks are living.

So it's normal place for the monks to live. only the white color Then in this monastery, if there are yellow color and red color. A special yellow colour in the monastery means a high level person is living there.

So that's a different colour. They have different meanings. We have a special time for climbing this mountain. This is the top of Lhasa. OK, I think it's 5002 metres or something like this. Wow.

It's right at the very top. That's 5200 metres. Top of the mountain. Yeah. Wow. So right at the very top of this mountain is 5200 metres.

That's insane, wow. So right now we're roughly at 3800-3900 meters. Are we? Yeah. Ohh Almost. I don't know how much you guys can actually see that. There's a little dot that you might be able to see. That's a little structure, a little building over there.

That's part of the monastery as well and it is used for meditation purposes. Are you ready to travel smarter? Well, Ubigi has got your back. This is almost 90 degrees. Look at that one. Go on. Go zigzag, he said.

But I would say just grab onto the rail and go. Yeah, I know. All right. Another thing that we just learned right now is if you're going up quite a gradient and the slope is too steep, go zigzag and it helps you go up the steps easier. But what happens when you start feeling light-headed and dizzy? If I go zigzag, by the time I go from right to left or left to right, I might actually fall back.

I might be back down at the bottom. Whoa, look at these. There we are. They've done it. There's also so many older people here who are just absolutely so fit and healthy. So that's making me not feel so great.

Yeah, that's my inspiration. I'm looking up to them. Yeah, because they're making us look bad haha! I mean, if they can do it, we can do it. This is why I have a lot of respect for all the uncles and aunties that, you know, every time you go to a park and you see people dancing, because most of them are older. They can really show you up because they can go on and on like an energetic battery! Whereas the young ones, the young ones would just probably do it for 5 minutes.

Then run out of breath and then take a break like this one here. You've done well so far. I can't complain really. We're at this incredibly beautiful monastery with amazing views, so much history and culture here. So

this is the residential quarters, I guess. The colours again. Beautiful. Oh, look at this. Wow. It's thatched. Bigger wood and then the smaller wood that's pretty cool and then along the wall here Nima was just saying it we've got the eight auspicious symbols, so you've got the umbrella, yeah here as you walk along I think you've got the golden fish as well oh yeah of course here the fish ohh that's the vase there, yeah look at the ceiling as well by the way pretty cool! yeah That's the Lotus. Oh, yeah.

We're on the roof of the world, you guys. We're in the highest capital in the world in terms of altitude. Let that sink in. It's yeah, it's phenomenal.

I never thought I'd be here. You can see the paintings behind you on those rocks up there. Yeah, straight down. This is one of the auspicious symbols.

So this is the conch shell. So when they have a very big festival. They basically open it all up, I think, and I believe that up and around this white wall here is where you do the outer kora.

That's absolutely insane. The sheer size of that, right? It's huge, this place. We've just come out of one of the chapels and honestly...

So, so interesting! I'm usually not a history person, but that is fascinating. There's so much to learn. So guys, we were just actually stopping to get a drink and then we saw this wall and it's got all different currency notes. Yeah, different countries and the currency on it. And Nima was telling us that this one was the local Qing Dynasty. Have you seen the size? I was just going to say it's so big there.

That is so crazy. And then we were looking at these ones as well. These are old Chinese notes. We can see here this one 1965,1960,1980.

This is another one? Oh wow, that's so cool. This one. Wow. This is, I think Japan. This one is Japanese. This one, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia.

That's so cool to see the older notes as well. I haven't seen them, but we're taking in the sights and the sounds. of this monastery, Drepung Monastery, which is 60 yuan to get in as well I believe. These people that are coming up the steps, they're doing the loop, they're doing the rounds, they're doing the Kora, ah so for them to go around the entire monastery, I admire people's conviction and their dedication because I come up 20 steps and I'm out of breath! Yes, we are not very fit for sure, but I think the locals are incredible. Honestly, they are. But I think the few days that we've actually spent here in Tibet so far, my acclimatization has actually improved a lot.

I think you get used to the altitude, don't you? And for us it helped. I would definitely recommend if you want to visit Tibet, you absolutely should because it is 100% worth it. But spend a few days in Yunnan first so you can acclimatize. Because Yunnan's a little higher and then move up slowly! Yeah, move up. Is this someone's house? Oh, it's the monks The monks? Oh yeah, it's white. Yeah, white. Got you. This is so beautiful.

This is stunning. Look at the colours. Look at the little drapes. On all of the window frames. And the blue backdrop. Stunning, isn't it? I would not mind living here. No. So beautiful. Beautiful. I can definitely understand why places like monasteries are built up in the hills because honestly, it's so peaceful up here. Wow. Less distractions.

Wow. Look at that. Oh my goodness.

This is a temple. This is beautiful. Whoa. Here's Taz enjoying himself.

Let's walk you over here, because this is absolutely beautiful oh! Ohh wow, they are making some sugar over here this is amazing! They are hitting it with a hammer! Yeah, it starts like these blocks. Wow. I have never seen this before. Wow. And are they mixing this up with barley? Very good, very good. This is also used for offerings because they're going to smash it up and then in the middle you can see they've got the barley flour, the tsampa, and they're going to mix it up.

And that could be used as offerings as well. Ah Love it. We're making a quick little pit stop. Because we're going to have some tea. Thank you.

Alright we got some tea cups here. All metal. Happy days. Let's go find ourselves somewhere to sit. How about we sit here? I think this is nice.

Here we go. Three cups. Okay I think you need to bring your own tea. OK, what's happening out here? Let's have a look. Look at that log wood over there. So we get one pot? Yeah. What kind of tea is this? I gave them my card! No idea Wow. You got a card?

Yeah, I give him my card and then they tell you to take this one. So I took it. Yeah, because I saw. Hello. Hello. Because I did see Nima was getting some sort of a ticket or something. So you tell him the kind of tea that you want to have, then they give you a corresponding card and then you come out, behind us. And then they give you the tea.

This is our spot here. We can do some teas in some metal cups. I like this.

I thought for a minute this was probably like the cover for the flask. How do I open it? Do I just take the cork? Just twist it. That's it. Go on. Nima is hungry! Nima, what did you get? Tibetan noodle. Oh, wow. That looks nice.

He's got some seasoning on it as well. What's the meat? Is it yak meat? Yeah, yak meat. Oh, some chillies. OK. I was thinking I'm not going to eat right now because I had late breakfast, but I'm actually thinking right now that looks quite appetizing. Oh, that looks very good.

Yeah. You like it? It's called Tibetan noodles. Yeah, Tibetan noodles. OK. Nima, this is Tibetan sweet tea? Yes, sweet tea.

Cheers. Don't burn your mouth. I mean, that's the plan. It's very, very, very hot.

Excuse the excessive slurping, but I don't want to burn my tongue, so wait a minute Did you manage to actually get enough in that last sip? Oh, very Milky. Very Milky. It really reminds me of the chai that we had in Pakistan. But it tastes like it's got maybe 3 or 4 spoonfuls of sugar more in it. What this? No way.

Yeah, I think it's super sweet. It is really nice, but it's so creamy, Milky, just delicious, right? So somebody thought that they weren't hungry, but turns out we were watching Nima eat and we were like... No, actually we are. So Nima just got this noodle with the broth and he said this is specific. Yeah, the chilli on there.

But this is specific to this monastery, Nima, right? Yeah, it's this taste. I mean, oh, this taste. OK, meat and everything is very good. Sometimes Nima comes here just for the noodles. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Just for noodles and tea. And the tea! Yeah, when I'm not busy. Oh, I get you. But tell me, what do you think? The noodles are super thick. OK.

So this is going to be quite a filling portion. Sometimes they sell out very quickly. Really? Yeah.

Because today not that many pilgrims. So that's why we can try it! Normally, by this time, it's finished. Oh, so we are lucky today. Lucky us! Yeah. Yeah. Good? Yeah. Hot and sweet is so good!

Nima is loving life right now. See you later, Beautiful views. We will see you next time. You have been beautiful.

All right, this is our chariot that's going to take us to our next stop. Are we ready for our next stop? Hello. Hello. Full moonroof and everything. I was

going to show you guys this in the morning. This is the car that brought us down here, but I was a bit sleepy in the morning because it's an early start every day down here, so. When you say early, we mean like 9am Yeah, that's too early for us.

Anyway, beautiful bright blue afternoon now and we are making our way down these hills. Making my way downtown. I just love Chinese EVs.

I think this is an EV as well. Is this an electric car? Yeah, yeah, electric car. Yeah, it's an EV? Beautiful. It's really nice though. Really comfortable! Tesla, this is competition! I love Chinese EVs. They're just the best.

I can't believe the landscapes here. Honestly, it's absolutely incredible. I mean, I thought we were in for some crazy scenery.

But, I wasn't thinking anything like this. It is crazy! Absolutely wild. I'd love to bring our families here and show them because it's just Stunning. I know they'd love it as well. We are filled up. We're fed.

We've drunk our bodies weight in tea. Nima is getting us to love Tibetan tea. Very, very good.

But now we're going to go head on to the next stop. So let's go. Let's do this! We are here at the Summer Palace now, which is , which basically means, I think it's a treasure garden. Oh, there's a dog. There's a dog down there somewhere. But, we've got some beautiful gardens over here.

Hi. And this is so stunning. Look at this. It's beautiful right now. We have Taz and Nima up ahead and now some beautiful buildings over this side. So we're going to go see, check it out. Let's see what this place is like. So far, it is lovely.

We just got our tickets. Look at what we've just noticed right now, you might have heard of humans getting Intravenous medicine! Yeah, this is the tree which is getting its daily dose of antibiotics. Oh my God. Vitamins. They're not antibiotics. No, I wouldn't want to to have a daily dose of antibiotics.

But yeah, vitamins and stuff. Absolutely. I have not seen that before.

And that's the drip that's going in here. Oh my gosh. Oh" Nina was saying it basically helps the tree to grow and be healthy, with nutrients, but I have not seen, A tree on an Intravenous before.

This is the second residence here in the Summer Palace area. There's I think two or three, Nima was saying, but can I just draw your attention to all of the colours here? Like, wow, this is magical. These are all real flowers as well. And what is that? That is so grand. Wow, wow, wow. So this was made in the 20th century? Yeah, 20th century.

So it's very recent. Yeah, very recent. Look at the water feature here, the fountain. Ohh I am loving it.

So beautiful. The flowers, the buildings, the sky, the big clouds, you can see, amazing! The colours look amazing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. Do you know, on our way down here there was a whole parade.

A whole lineup of bamboo trees. And every time I see bamboo trees here in China, I just think there will be a panda appearing very soon. But hey, we're in Lhasa right now, so I don't think there will be any pandas down here. So we just took a lovely stroll around the summer palace, which was so very nice.

It felt so super peaceful, even though it's in the middle of the city. But really, really interesting, really cool to see. Again, blew my mind. Middle of the city and you can't hear anything inside.

It's so calm, so tranquil! It's like taking a walk through the parks. And everything around you is nothing but just wilderness, but it's not. You're in the middle of the city, but it's so quiet! On our way to our next stop now, guys. Let's go! So now, we are going up, oh my goodness, to The debating courtyard and I think there is a sign that says no cameras except cell phones. So I'll

switch this off and switch to the mobile This is where all the monks come out here to debate. It seems like they're having a pretty in depth debate in here as well because it seems there's a lot of commotion, there's a lot of noise and that's good because it seems like some of them. Are having a pretty heavy debate, like these two here. Here we go. There's another one.

This is what I'm trying to understand why they clap. My understanding is the ones that are standing, are the ones that are asking questions of the ones that are sat down. And I think when they're done asking the question is when they actually clap, which means they're done speaking.

So the ones that are sat down, they can then give them the answer. I don't know, I might be completely wrong. I'm going to have to ask Nima about this because he obviously would have more understanding of the topic than I do. There's so many monks here and I've heard this starts from 15:00 in the afternoon until 18:00 in the evening. This is so fascinating, guys. I am loving this.

We were just out here watching the debate and then we met a subscriber. Hi. I'm from Chengdu. Oh, amazing. Yeah, I know you. You came to Chengdu? Oh, yes. It's amazing.

Are you here on holiday? Yeah, on holiday, but I leave tonight Are you leaving tonight? You're going back to Chengdu? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. You have been to Yamdrok Lake? Yes. Oh ohh yeah, you like it? Very, very. It's very beautiful! If you guys see us as well, feel free to come, say hello, why not? That was very, very interesting to observe, very fascinating actually to see. And I've never seen something quite like it either.

So I highly recommend if you're in Tibet then definitely come check out The Monks Debating, because it's something different I'm sure. I'm sure you would probably not have seen it before. And it's well worth it. There was people in there who had bought little chairs, they were ready to watch the whole three hours. But yeah, from 3 until 6 p.m.,

every day apart from Sunday, enjoyed it. Lovely. Now we are walking with Nima. And actually, I just heard him telling Taz that him and his son have hiked all the way up here, which is honestly insane. His son must be much fitter than I am because I don't think I'd be able to do that.

Wow. We've walked away from the debate courtyard, quite a bit actually, and we can still hear them, we can still hear the claps, we can still hear the questions, we can still hear! There's a very animated debate going on there right now, I'm sure. Check this out! Wow, these massive rocks and you've got paintings all on them.

How many is that? 1,2,3,4. Then we've got one here. But look at the size of this building here. It is thin! Do you know the one thing that I absolutely admire about people that live here and the people that founded the place...

is the unlimited stamina. And their endurance to actually just go up and down because monasteries are never easy to get to. They're always made in places where it's higher up, like away from the hustle and the bustle of life. So they can, you know, find peace and calm.

And peace and calm comes at a price. And that's an intense leg workout. Hello. They've seen your videos.

Thank you! We appreciate that. So we've just made our way, Out of this temple here. So The thing is, obviously you can't really record inside of the temple, which is fine. I can describe that for you. It was beautiful. However, look at where it is. The location is just magical.

It's at the foothill of this mountain and there's a monastery up there as well, the one in yellow and white. I don't know if you guys can see it properly with this camera, but it takes about two to three hours just to make your way up there. And Nima was telling us he's actually been there once with his little kid. This is what I was saying earlier, it's the location for monasteries is always impeccable, beautiful. The other thing that caught my attention were these massive pots like the cauldrons? So these back in the day were used to cook for all the monks! I think they have a different kitchen now, but this is where they used to cook their meals and everything and it's got some inscription on it as well. Well, right now inside there's people who've just left some money and there is offerings and things.

There's another one here, there's one there, there's one there. So that's four altogether out here. Nima was telling us, if you like to trek, then around this monastery, are some really good trekking routes! You can go up to this side and you can come up and round. You can go here, here, here, wherever you want to go, you get panoramic views of, Not just Lhasa, But you get a really good view of the monastery too! Wow, today has been phenomenal, guys. We've seen so much today.

It's a sad morning. We are on the way to the airport, guys. Our time in Tibet is finished. It's the final day and we are leaving behind the most incredible views. Look at these. Wow, those mountains, the views are just.... They'll never get old! I'm going to miss this. Oh my gosh.

Out of this world, like being on another planet altogether. And just like that, our flight is in the next two hours. So we're cutting it a bit fine! But it wouldn't be a sun kissed bucket list vlog if we weren't! Time to go to the airport. Let's go. All right, we're at the airport. Here we are. And it is time to bid farewell to Lhasa! Thank you so much, guys. Thank you so much to you. I learned a lot from you.

We learned a lot from you. Thank you so much. Thank you. And I hope I see you next time. Absolutely. Absolutely!

Thank you very much. Thank you guys. Yeah. OK. All the best! And to you! Absolutely! Stay safe! Thank you.

OK. Thank you. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Oh, this is this is emotional. It is right. Nima was such a legend! Our driver, He was Michael Schumacher! We called him... Actually, we called him Lewis Hamilton. Haha! Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, whatever mood he was in.

All right. So do you know what, guys? It's another travel day for us right now. We are leaving Lhasa, the Tibet series.

The mini series is coming to an end right now. However, that being said, we are embarking on a new one, on a new adventure. Stay tuned because we are heading over somewhere in China that we've never been before. We hope you enjoyed all the episodes as much as we did. We really hope that you guys come down here, check this place out, you would love it.

Tibet Shambala Adventures, you guys have been amazing! You're legends! Absolutely loved our time with you but for now love you and leave you and we will see you from another place in China baby. Let's go!!!!!!
