40 million Americans in financial limbo tonight in America you should not have to face Financial ruin because you want a damn education the nation's highest court hears those consequential cases on student loans plus I I agree and I am upset we AK with every single one of you guys you are here to protect the students emotions spill over as students band together after a classmate and friend dies by Suicide the push tonight for Meaningful change and be patient with our parents to see them as human beings and not just caregivers use whatever time we have with those people to reflect and enjoy and embrace that time Paul meskel's main message from the movie that he hopes will win him best actor just 27 years old as we continue our road to the Oscars with this talented fast riser thank you good evening everyone I'm Linda Davis thank you so much for streaming with us we're following those stories and much more tonight including the derailment of yet another train with tens of thousands of gallons of propane the concerns tonight as Crews race to contain the Fallout plus we're learning about what appears to be a shocking close call at a major American airport the JetBlue flight forced to take evasive action what went wrong and Tick-Tock the Spy balloon of the potential to arm Russia the brand new U.S House committee specifically focused on China we hear from the committee chairs our correspondents are fanned out across the country covering it all for us tonight but we do begin with the 60 million Americans on alert across the country for heavy snow high winds and severe weather as we track two major storms on both coasts It's A Tale of Two extremes the East Coast woke up to the first widespread snow of the Season less than two inches though in cities like New York the entire Northeast is reporting about two feet less than normal so much so that some ski areas are actually shutting down early meantime the West is in a massive deep freeze California is facing the prospect of another massive blizzard parts of the Sierra Nevada have now seen more than 40 feet of snow this year and heavy rain in the LA area is fueling major mudslide concerns tonight Rob Marciano will have the track on these latest major storms in a moment but first our chief National correspondent Matt Gutman reports from the Sierra Nevada tonight tonight that unending whiteout in the west drivers snow blind in the Sierras where I'm standing right now is I-80 one of the most trafficked East-West thoroughfares in the entire country but right now it is close to all traffic completely socked in with the snow coming down at a rate of almost a foot an hour in Southern California San Bernardino County officials now declaring a State of Emergency due to blocked roads as they've race for even more snow meanwhile on the East Coast The Other Extreme hardly any snow are Trevor alt in Hartford Connecticut this is the Region's biggest snowstorm of the season and it really isn't all that bad here in Hartford we're at about a half a foot but even after that the city is still in a two foot snow deficit for this point of the Year back in the west a mudslide in the mountains above Beverly Hills knocking out a retaining wall that home evacuated as a precaution as they brace for even more rain in Southern California Lindsay this storm is expected to track clear across the country hitting the East Coast on Friday and obviously bearing severe weather along the way now the Sierras here we are expecting an additional several feet of snow over the next 24 hours this is why they have been calling this such an extremely dangerous blizzard up to 60 mile per hour winds near whiteout conditions and all of that snow as for I-80 which we just showed you it was closed on Sunday not expected to be reopened until Thursday morning Lindsay Matt thank you let's get to our senior meteorologist Rob Marciano who's tracking the storm as it moves across the country hey Rob hi Lindsay this storm is really moving quickly at nearly as fast and as strong as a system that we just got rid of it's going to be a long night and morning for California the action is going to move from Donner Pass and I-80 where the blizzard is happening in San Francisco where the rain is happening down to Santa Barbara Los Angeles San Diego in the morning and we'll see some heavy rain there probably going to see some flooding maybe some mudslides one to three to six feet of snow in the Hills we're just outside of Las Vegas and Phoenix again with this thing as it progresses across the four corners and the Southwest during the day on Wednesday but the energy from this really ejects into the planes quickly on a Thursday a widespread severe weather event from Dallas to Shreveport Jackson Mississippi maybe pushing into Alabama Alabama again damaging winds definitely some big hail and a few strong tornadoes are certainly possible the northern part of this system is going to be mostly rain until it hits say Michigan and Chicago where it's going to be a wet snow parts of Northern Pennsylvania and New York City once again in the I-95 quarter up through Boston we'll see a wintry mix of precipitation and just Inland we could see another event where we see some heavy Inland snow and this will last into Saturday morning another high impact Coast-to-Coast storm Lindsay a winner not over just yet Rob Marciano our thanks to you today the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two cases that have put President Biden's massive student loan forgiveness plan on hold relief to 40 million Americans now hangs in the balance ABC's senior National correspondent Terry Moran is at the Supreme Court tonight overnight they lined up in the cold rain outside the Supreme Court a few of the millions of Americans whose Financial Futures may depend on this case but inside the Supreme Court's conservatives clearly signaling that they think President Biden has gone too far with his 400 billion dollar student loan forgiveness plan and that Congress must approve such huge sums I think most casual observers would say if you're going to give up that much amount of money if you're going to affect the obligations of that many Americans on a subject that's of great controversy they would think that's something for Congress to act on the Biden plan cancels ten thousand dollars in federal student loan debt for those making less than a hundred and twenty five thousand dollars a year and another ten thousand for some lower income borrowers the White House says 26 million people have applied so far outside young people described the stakes you go to school to get a well-paying job but you're also digging yourself a hole of enormous debt and it's hard to crawl out of doing things such as buying a house I'm worried that I'm not going to be able to do that in the time frame that I want but is the Biden plan fair to other Americans that question raised by conservatives Justice Neil Gorsuch mentioning people who've paid their loans people who um don't have planned their lives around not seeking loans and people who are not eligible for loans in the first place and that a half a trillion dollars is being diverted to one group of favored persons over others but to Justice Sonia Sotomayor the future without this plan looks bleak there's a 50 million students who are will benefit from this who today will struggle they don't have friends or families or others who can help them make these payments certainly a grim reality there Tara Moran joins us now from Washington Terry bottom line the conservative justices are just deeply skeptical of the president's loan forgiveness plan and they hold a super majority on the court they sure do Lindsay there's six conservative justices so they can't even lose a vote and just as Amy Coney Barrett did seem open to some of the administration lawyers uh procedural arguments but that wouldn't do the trick this is a conservative Court very skeptical of the exercise of of Presidential Power in most cases especially when democratic presidents are involved and the White House has no plan B they have said that they have confidence this case will come out right and they do not have an alternative option for those millions of people who will be affected if as looks likely the court strikes this program down Terry Moran our thanks to you is always yet another train derailment has occurred this time near Sarasota Florida where six cars overturned including a tanker carrying more than 30 thousand gallons of propane fuel emergency responders have rushed should have seen but so far they say nothing has leaked here's ABC's Victor Kendo tonight a train carrying more than 30 thousand gallons of propane fuel derailing in Florida emergency crews rushing to the scene it comes after that toxic train derailment in East Palestine Ohio five cars toppling over today so far there's been no leak can you identify the hazardous material propane Hazmat Crews near Sarasota using thermal imaging to examine that propane tanker four other rail cars also falling over containing sheetrock a 100 foot section of the railroad snapped in half and uprooted it's probably going to take several days to get this completely cleaned up they'll have to rebuild the track because it's destroyed officials alerting surrounding businesses be ready to evacuate in case of emergency right now everything is okay and it's a static situation it's when they go to Upright the tank that we will be back out in full force just to ensure the public safety and today the governor of Indiana objecting to the epa's decision to send hazardous waste from East Palestine to his State saying there's been a lack of communication with me and other Indiana officials about this decision Kendo joins us now Victor any word on injuries and how are officials from the rail company responding yeah Lindsay here in Florida tonight the Seminole golf Railway saying that no one was injured and that they'll continue to work with local authorities until the rail cars and the tracks have been corrected Lindsay all right Victor Oquendo for us thanks so much Victor the FAA is now investigating what looks to be like another close call on the nation's runways it happened at Boston's Logan airport where a Learjet took off without clearance from air traffic control as a JetBlue flight was prepping to land on an intersecting Runway so how did the pilots react to the close call here's ABC's Gio Benitez tonight the FAA now investigating yet another disturbing Runway close call this time at Boston Logan International Airport the FAA says on Monday Air Traffic Control told the pilot of a Lear jet preparing to take off to wait as the JetBlue flight landed on an intersecting Runway 206. instead the FAA says even though the Learjet pilot read back those instructions clearly the pilot proceeded to take off anyway the jet blue plane taking evasive action going from 87 feet back up to 3 900 feet before circling around and finally Landing safely correct tonight the FAA wants to know how close the planes got when we have an error like this very often it's a human error and even though we had backup systems that operated here the tower operator telling the others to go around uh it's still too close this as the FAA faces tough questions about Airline safety ABC News following at least five close calls in the U.S involving commercial jets in just over two months just last week at an airport in Burbank California authorities say an air traffic controller cleared a United Express flight to take off but then seconds later told an American Airlines Regional Jet to land on the same Runway clear to land the two planes about 1.3 miles apart before the pilot for that American Airlines Regional Jet maneuvered out of the way and back in January at JFK airport a Delta jet came within seconds of hitting an American Airlines flight that was crossing the wrong Runway scary stuff there are thanks to Geo more than a thousand workers at a Jeep assembly plant in Illinois clocked out for the final time today the factory has been the economic engine of Belvedere Illinois since the 60s the plants shut down leaves more than 1700 employees at the factory nearby supporting businesses out of work as many make plans to leave town for new jobs the future of the city of 25 000 is uncertain lawmakers in West Virginia are on a recruitment campaign to bolster the state's sagging population they're considering a 25 thousand dollar tax credit to former residents who move back to the state to work the state senate passed the bill unanimously it's now before the State House the tax break for returning residents is just the state's latest incentive program the West Virginia Department of Tourism is already offering twelve thousand dollars cash and free passes for Outdoor Adventures to remote workers who move to certain areas of the state testimony has ended in the trial of once prominent attorney Alec Murdock who's accused of murdering his wife and son but not before final testimony from one of Murdoch's former law Partners ABC's Eva Pilgrim has the very latest tonight in a dramatic last day of testimony in the Alec Murdoch trial prosecutors calling key Witnesses back to the stand in their final push to prove the disgraced lawyer murdered his wife and son and then what does the shooter do he shoots Paul in the back of the head after he passes him prosecutors poking hole in the defense's argument there were two Shooters their crime scene expert walking the jury through the defense version of the crime trying to prove they got the bullet analysis wrong I think the theory is preposterous in my opinion the prosecution taking aim at Alec Murdoch's emotional performance on the witness stand calling his former law partner to show Murdoch knew how to perform for a jury when he was a trial attorney presence in the courtroom and and he could get very emotional the defense pushing back during a heated exchange suggesting that partner is angry after having to pay clients back for money Alec Murdoch stole are you angry at him for stealing your money I have no feeling one way or the other I don't have any feeling about Alec Murdock betraying you and stealing your money I have had anger with him extreme anger Mr harpooteland because of what he did and if you suggest you are dead wrong if you think I've come in here and told this jury something because of money when we we're talking about two people who were brutally murdered then you're you're headed in the wrong direction Eva Pilgrim joins us now Eva so closing arguments are slated for tomorrow but first the jury will make a visit to the crime scene that's right Lindsay the jury will go to the crime scene in the morning this is just a chance for them to see where this all happened no presentation no talking if they have any questions the only person they can ask is the judge who will be there Lindsay all right Eva Pilgrim covering this case for us from the very beginning thanks so much Tom pettigon official now says that Iran could have nuclear material for a device like a weapon in just a matter of days this is the first time that we're hearing this Quantified in this way by a U.S official and it's really quite a revelation White House correspondent Mary Bruce joins us now for more Mary what are you hearing from the administration well tonight it seems Iran is on the brink of having enough material to build a nuclear bomb if they wanted to top Pentagon official today saying they could reach that point in just 12 days Lindsay this is the closest that Iran has been to being capable of building a nuclear bombs and former president Trump left the Iranian nuclear deal back in 2018 and since then the Pentagon says that Iran's nuclear progress has been remarkable now the Biden administration had tried to restart and revive that nuclear deal but with no success and it is important to note that while Iran is inching closer to this point the intelligence Community tonight says they see no indication that Iran has actually decided to go down this road and build a nuclear bomb Lindsay I could be really deeply concerning there Mary Bruce from the White House our thanks to you thank you Finland has begun construction on a border wall with Russia as the region confronts the very real concerns that Russia may not keep its conflict to just Ukraine meanwhile Vladimir Putin has finally acknowledged losses on the battlefield as reports of Ukrainian drones reaching inside Russia are prompting calls for tighter border controls meanwhile the president of Ukraine president zielinski has acknowledged that defending the eastern city of bakmut is quote getting more and more difficult ABC's James Longman has the latest from Ukraine tonight tonight a series of mysterious drone strikes inside Russia according to the Kremlin go circulating online show an explosion at an oil Depot smoke billowing into the sky another drone believed to be targeting a gas facility striking deep inside Russia it came within just 60 miles of Moscow the Kremlin blaming Ukraine but so far no claim of responsibility Vladimir Putin today ordering his Federal Security Service the FSB to take over border security and he even made a rare admission saying there have been losses in our ranks many of those losses are in eastern Ukraine in back mood desperate for a win after more than a year of War Moscow is sending in fighter jets battering endless buildings with artillery and losing countless lives all to take now ruined back mood those determined to say trying to survive with the Relentless sound of gunfire and explosions buildings burning but no one is coming to help here the Ukraine Spirit of survival unbroken today Ukraine announcing additional units are on their way to back mood the soldiers saying though the city is on fire Ukraine will live we've heard that Spirit of optimism from the ukrainians from the beginning James Longman joins us now from Kevin James there's another development that we're watching tonight as the president of Belarus Ukraine's neighbor to their North is now in China for meetings explain the potential significance there well Lindsay it's a question we often ask ourselves isn't it what is China going to do what does China think on this issue it is desperately important cost your mind back to the beginning of this War uh now over a year ago in the weeks and months that followed a lot of people wondered what China made of all this whether or not Vladimir Putin had in fact asked permission from Beijing in order to launch his invasion and and whether or not China could possibly be a mediator of some kind in this well over the last few weeks and months it seems Western intelligence officials have become increasingly concerned that China may not only not wish to mediate but actually start to arm Russia and now president Luka shenko Vladimir Putin's closest Ally the president of Belarus the northern neighbor to Ukraine he is in Beijing for meetings what does this mean is China creeping forward to arming Russia if that happens it adds a new very dangerous Global Dimension to this entire War Lindsay it certainly does James Longman for using Keith thanks so much James and as lukashenko touched down in Beijing today the U.S directly warned

that it would Target Chinese firms or individuals involved in any effort to arm Russia's military for its war in Ukraine Secretary of State Anthony blinken's comments were the administration's most specific public admonition on the issue so far and just one more point of tension in the increasingly frayed relationship with China tonight a newly created house committee focused on U.S China relations is meeting for the very first time ABC's jail Bryan is on Capitol Hill Jay will the committee be focusing on yeah Lindsay that committee meeting right through these doors here the same committee room where the January 6 committee met this committee this China committee also meeting in Prime Time hoping to make a splash hoping as members of the committee say to pull back the curtain on China and also looking to show that the idea of confronting China is a bipartisan issue here in this Congress we spoke with the top Republican and the top Democrat of this committee Mike Gallagher the Republican Raj and krishnamurthy the ranking member of this committee and we asked him how this new house select committee on China newly formed is going to confront some of those issues driving the headlines including that burgeoning U.S China relationship here's what or excuse me that burgeoning Russia China relationship here's what Gallagher had to say I'm very concerned and I do want the committee to tackle it this is a big takeaway for my trip to Taiwan that increasingly this no limits partnership which there was a tendency initially to think ah it's just something that a piece of paper they signed now it's something very real Putin I see is she's Junior partner in this de facto alliance against the West I think she's tethered goat in Europe his agent of chaos until for us to separate these problems I think would be an analytical and geopolitical mistakes so we have to tease out that connection going forward another geopolitical issue that this committee looking to tackle the origins of the coronavirus not necessarily investigating that itself but as the committee says what were China's efforts to Stonewall International investigators just one of a host of things that this committee hopes to probe Lindsay and when you talk about that host of things the Chinese owned app Tick Tock is another one of those areas of contention right now just today China lashed out against the Biden administration's order to remove the app from all government issue devices how does the committee plan to tackle that issue what we've seen already bipartisan legislation coming out of the chair and ranking member of this committee calling for a nationwide ban of tick tock they say it's a security risk in data privacy and also a misinformation because as you know Tick Tock is owned by a Chinese company bite dance but we pressed Gallagher and krishnamorthy on if they think a ban is actually feasible and would get through Congress here is what krishnamorthy had to say I don't see a ban happening in the U.S I think that there'll be a force sale um you know what Mike and I have talked about in our legislation is that we don't want the user data or the algorithms or the content ultimately being controlled by the Chinese Communist Party um you know people already have problems with big Tech having their personal data but it's a bridge too far when you're talking about the Chinese Communist party or an adversarial regime and that's why I think our constituents and many others are so concerned and that notion of tick tock frawling falling into a broader theme that this committee hopes to focus on which is the economic relationship Lindsay between the U.S and China and looking ahead Jay what other areas of U.S China relations

can we expect the committee to dive into well one of the things that made some waves is chair Gallagher of this committee saying that he is thinking of calling the CEOs of major American companies to testify if that happened that would cause a significant stir he did not specify who he wants to testify when he wants them to testify and what exactly he wants to ask them we pushed him on that earlier today here's what he said I certainly want to engage in the discussion with CEOs of major American companies that have a presence China an indeed not be adversarial I understand that for two decades we've all made the same basic bet on China we were going to integrate them into the global economy and I hope that it would moderate their behavior the only problem is that that bet which there was a logic to it failed overall this committee worth watching because it's a congressional committee confronting a major Global power Lindsay something you do not see in this building often they are thanks to you still much more ahead to get to here on Prime tonight coming up new developments into Tory Lanez trial when he'll now be sentenced for shooting fellow rapper Megan the stallion an actor Paul talks about portraying characters with different life experiences and the role that earned him his first Academy Award nomination but next a 14 year old girl took her life after video of you get your podcasts reporting from the earthquake in Turkey I'm David Muir wherever the story will take you there you're streaming ABC News live we turn now to the recent heartbreaking death of a 14 year old who died by suicide after video of her being violently bullied at her New Jersey high school is posted online the girl's father and Community are outraged and the school district is now Under Fire but some parents and students tell us it's another painful reminder of a mental health crisis affecting teenage girls across the country and we do want to warn you that some of the images that you're about to see are deeply disturbing here's the ABC's Phil Lipoff like like guys you are here to protect the students and bullied out of school by nine students but teachers we're terrified they're gonna get picked on and both because that's all that's been happening these last few weeks weeks months and years of pain and pent-up emotion exploding at this school board meeting in Bayville New Jersey that [Music] that don't just sit on your bus and push it under the rug like you do every day of your life this Gathering the first since Adriana Kutch a 14 year old from Central Regional High School took her own life earlier this month some parents and students saying the school didn't do enough to stop constant bullying she was on the floor blacked out and you guys didn't do nothing about it her death coming two days after video of her being beaten by classmates in the hallway was posted online and then went viral everybody without exception to knew Adriana knew she was witty funny smart strung you know getting hit in the face with the water bottle didn't hurt Adriana when her Adriana was the embarrassment and humiliation they just kept coming at her Adriana's Father Michael Kutch saying constant bullying and rumors drove his child to take her own life the Ocean County prosecutor's office confirming to ABC News four students seen in that video were charged three of the students were charged with assault-related charges and one charged with harassment Adriana's Death part of what some are calling a nationwide Mental Health crisis involving teenage girls according to a CDC report published last week 57 percent of teenage girls a record high said they felt persistently sad or hopeless in 2021 that's up from 36 percent in 2011. the CDC also reporting suicide is now the second leading cause of death among all adolescents Rosalind Wiseman studies youth culture and is the best-selling author of queen bees and wannabes the book that inspired the movie Mean Girls Girls in particular are suffering from sadness and depression and thoughts of suicide that are just unprecedented in my experience of working with young people for 25 years now questions being raised the bullies social media parents faculty who should be held accountable I just find it so disgusting like how people can record and sit there and laugh at a fight video and as the community Mourns Adriana's loss her friends and family are hoping to prevent bullying from claiming the lives of others for Adriana's best friend Haley and geyser which she remembers most was how her friend lit up a room and I was like my little sister and my best friend she loved animals her personality was the best like she was always so sweet to people kind-hearted and geyser says Adriana showed no signs that she was being bullied until she was attacked earlier this month she never looked like really like to talk about her feelings I wish she did though so I could understand what she was feeling and I could have helped her with it I gotta tell you Adriana was the most happy beautiful young lady in the world for Adriana's dad Michael there is little to soothe a broken heart so what happened was my daughter calls me crying saying they jumped me Dad and so I rushed to the school her nose was may have been broken both her upper lip was swollen her bottom lip was swollen and she had light black bags under her eyes and she had bruises up and down her legs in your darkest of times have you ever thought bad thoughts that you wish you weren't thinking I feel like it's normal in a way to feel like you don't belong Daniel Ledesma is a senior at Central Regional High School she was one of dozens of students who spoke up at the school board meeting her mom Marisa by her side is there a relief when you leave school is there any kind of relief or because there's a social media aspect of it that it just does it ever stop I feel like social media definitely takes a part in my mental health because I'm just constantly on my phone worrying about what people are saying and now some teens are using social media video as a cruel weapon in bullying what happens when these videos go viral is that the target feels dehumanized they feel that they can't possibly be a part of the community be at school or just be in the world and so you feel lonely you feel isolated you feel humiliated since Adriana's death the district superintendent trianopolis parliamentis resigned after making a public statement about personal matters relating to that student Paula penitis has not responded to requests by ABC news for comment the Acting Superintendent saying that Central Regional High School followed all state laws everyone at Central Regional School District in high school Mourns the loss of Adriana Kutch our current harassment intimidation bullying policy and procedures are currently and comply with all state laws department of education requirements and denying the school has a problem with violence based on our data alone it doesn't indicate that we're a cultural of violence we don't we don't condone that she goes to school in fear and she comes home scared and feeling threatened no child should feel like that ever gosh gosh it's like every single day every single week fight there's somebody getting attacked there's somebody just not feeling safe the superintendent says it's not a culture of violence at the school do you believe that absolutely not Danielle says she has been bullied her entire life and at times it became unbearable but she said she's been afraid to speak up worried officials at Central High School would not listen to her I've been called names in the hallway I've been stopped in the hallway just to have people just make fun of me and it got to the point where like the when somebody got into my face I just like I broke down and I cried and how can you sit there and tell somebody that they don't belong in this earth when I heard about Adriana it was truly like experiencing Mallory's death all over again Diane Grossman knows the unbearable pain of losing a child to bullying and how she says a moment captured on a phone could lead to a parent's worst nightmare this is not a Central Regional problem this is a cultural and across the board the only reason why we're talking about it is because we have actual videotape of what's happened to Adriana imagine the kids who there isn't a videotape when Nightline first spoke to Grossman and her husband back in 2017 she was seeking answers and justice for Mallory who took her own life when she was just 12 years old after being bullied by other students at her middle school we talked about suicide this was an open conversation that we had had and and what suicide and ending your life is and how permanent is Mallory's story is not this like now Diane and members of Mallory's Army a group she co-founded alongside her husband are seeking to prevent future heartbreak for other parents speaking to schools across the country you can learn a lot from kids including Adriana kutch's School in 2020. we talk about bullying and Its Behavior and I think that school systems like to check boxes I'm disappointed that you know they heard about Mallory they knew about Mallory they were warned and they just continued to do practice as normal Central Regional High School expelled the four students who attacked Adriana the Acting Superintendent releasing an action plan to prevent and respond to Future cases of bullying from additional training for faculty staff and parents to recognize potential problem situations to scheduling a student assembly to discuss bullying the search for accountability and change may be a long road but one that begins with small steps look five in numbers after nearly three years the federal government is ending pandemic error payments for low-income families on the supplemental nutrition assistance program otherwise known as snap as of tomorrow nearly 30 million Americans will face significant cuts to their monthly food stamp benefits 18 states have already ended the extra SNAP benefits and the rest of the country will do the same starting tomorrow so far only New Jersey will extend benefits longer at the state level the cuts mean that the average snap household will lose 95 a month for groceries according to a study from the center on budget and policy priorities and based on family size and income some could lose hundreds of dollars more a month the Boost in food assistance has been credited with keeping some 4.2 million people out of poverty since the end of 2021 according to the urban Institute and there are reports of longer lines at food banks in some states that have already cut back benefits and the cuts come as inflation raises the price of everyone's grocery bills food prices are up more than 10 percent from this time a year ago according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics with staples like eggs butter cereal and bread up by double digit percentages but with the administration expected to declare an end to the pandemic in just over two months in May that extra food assistance which was always intended to be temporary will now be no more and much more still ahead on Pride tonight Fallout over the search for a car that was stolen with a child inside why Volkswagen is now Under Fire and he's special delivery from one Michigan police officer officers from Sterling Heights were responding to a car accident during an ice storm after treating the drivers one of them told officers she had doordash items in her car which was too damaged to drive yeah sure I'll take it for you the officers then took the items and completed a very unique delivery I understand why she wanted to do this she was concerned about making sure the delivery got made and I mean it's it's her job serving is what we are able to do I I enjoy doing that greatly I hope they give you a good review Volkswagen's vehicle tracking Services Under Fire after mother says is back with us with the details on this story Volkswagen's vehicle tracking service is under Fire after a carjacking in Illinois where police say a pregnant mother was attacked in her driveway it is possible she was targeted from a previous stop she made it a nearby Town officials say the woman took one of her kids inside and when she went back for her two-year-old son a white BMW pulled up she says a man got out knocked her down ran her over and stole her car her son still inside just makes me scared and frightened you know it's very sad hoping to quickly find the car detectives called the emergency number for Carnet Support Services that's the third party Tracking Company Volkswagen uses but detectives say they were stunned when the company insisted on being paid a hundred fifty dollars before revealing the car's location saying the free trial period had expired Volkswagen calling it a serious breach of procedure saying in previous cases Harnett provided Services during emergency situations and saying we are addressing the situation with the parties involved very shaken up over this rightfully so this was an unbelievably traumatic event that they went through in this case officials say the dispatcher only gave the car's GPS location 30 minutes later after a detective had paid with a credit card thankfully by then police had already found the little boy abandoned in a nearby parking lot he was okay happy for that fortunate ending there Geo our thanks to you at just 27 years old Paul meskel is relishing The Surreal glow of his first Academy Award nomination it was a lead role in after sun that earned the Irishman nod for best actor or part that had him leaning on past relationships as inspiration to play a Young father had a chance to talk to Paul one on one ahead of Oscar Knight to talk about his high-speed journey to success and who he says he has to thank for it all in our road to the Oscars oh my God what even is that these are my moves no it was so embarrassing that's so embarrassing what Drew you to after sun the script they were so brilliant it just felt like a no-brainer sometimes at play time I look up the sky and if I can see the sun then I think about the fact that we can both see the sun still even though we're not actually in the same place and we're not actually together we kind of are in a way you know what did you draw on since you don't have children of your own to play this role as a dad there's many things that I have had to play that I haven't necessarily experienced in my own life but I know what it's like to be a son and I know what that parental relationship feels like what's your sister's name uh Sophie oh nice actually sorry man I just thought that's okay then you can simplify it even further and just be like it's a relationship that exists it's on love and that is true of any loving relationship so I I learned on the things that I knew and I knew what it was like to love somebody and feel loyal to somebody and care about them so that's what I focused on just turned 27 this month already up for the Academy in best actor did you expect that you would get to this point so quickly no I think that would have been that would be an insane assumption that yeah it has failed fast it's been a quick two years yeah and I'm just gonna enjoy the next month you know what inspired you to become an actor I kind of fell into it I did a School Musical when I was 16. fell in love with the idea of being on stage and then became the only thing that I really wanted to do or could see myself in and really loved and could see myself dedicating my life too a good year for for Irish actors too we're representing hard yeah favorite movie first one that's jumping into my head is Blue Valentine you always heard it's inspired you who would you say you know when you're giving your thanks after you think the academy who else do you feel is there a teacher or family member yeah I think Hillary wood who taught me acting at drama school changed my life favorite movie snack Salted Popcorn with small teasers and it's because the chocolate kind of melts is there a particular role that you'd love to play Gene Kelly maybe like a but I can't really dance so that's there's a problem there you can figure that out yeah if you could have dinner with a character from any movie who would the character be um Park Sullivan Colin's character in banshees that's what I thought you know happy lad he just seems like I'd have a lovely time with him he's such a nice man then we could look after his donkey right poor donkey didn't fare too well yeah what would you hope that viewers away from app would never want to dictate what somebody takes away from a film but I think if they take anything away it's to be patient with our parents to see them as human beings and not just caregivers and to like use whatever time we have with those people to reflect and enjoy and embrace that time thanks to Paul for that conversation we'll find out who will take home the Oscar for best actor Sunday March 12th at 8 pm on ABC tomorrow the art of creating a kids
