TRAVELLING ALONE IN HUNGARY - First Impressions of Budapest!
Well hello, good afternoon! Welcome back to another video. I'm actually going to document my Schengen visa application for the first time. I have always avoided it in my life.
These are just some of the documents we have been collecting and preparing for a tourist visa. Imagine having to submit this many documents. What you see on my YouTube channel has been so far the really polished and final edit of travel videos. And perhaps you don't know what goes behind the scenes and what it looks like to actually painfully prove myself. This is supposed to be my week of holiday but unfortunately this thing has to happen.
Therefore the holiday has to be disrupted. Anyway enough blabbering, I'll take you along with me and yeah hope you enjoy this. Let's go.
Good morning. My passport came in the mail earlier today. I'm a bit hopeful because the package seemed to be slim which means it only came with my passport and there is no attached letter to it. There it is my passport. UK visa, Japan visa... I got it! Sorry. This is tears of happiness. I've
just been trying to avoid applying this kind of visa my whole life because I just fear of refusal, rejection. With the help of my husband, we prepared all the documents. I got a 30-day visa, but it's something. It's something. Great now I can practically travel. Start venturing further to European continent. Let's go. I just arrived at Manchester terminal 3.
See you. Bye bye. Have a great time. Hello, good morning from Budapest. Essentially, the very first country in the European Union that I have been to, and Budapest as a city is the capital of Hungary. So I am just excited to experience this city for the first time, as well as trying to show it to you what it looks like. So I have got my coffee already, which is incredible. And a bit of indulgence, which is carrot cake.
At this point of my travel, I would usually walk around trying to look for a SIM card because internet is essential in my line of work and also as a solo traveler. But this doesn't need to happen because I have got Holafly, which is the paid-partner of today's video. Holafly is your ultimate travel companion for staying connected abroad. With their international eSIM, you can skip the hassle of physical SIM cards.
I have the app on my phone. What I need to do is just to type my destination, which is Hungary, where I am right now. Choose that and pick either five days, seven days or ten days, depending on what I need. I think I may be buying a ten days just to be safe. Check out.
I can actually pay that with an Apple Pay. Done. It's done. Wow. And then I can track my e-sim by clicking "See e-sim". Activate. Holafly is ready to activate. Wow. It's incredibly easy.
Activate your digital SIM instantly and enjoy unlimited data in over 150 destinations. No roaming charges, no hidden costs—just reliable, seamless connectivity. Holafly keeps you connected wherever you go. It's incredible because I've got 5G Auto unlimited data that can be used all over Hungary. I can now easily enjoy my coffee. Not having to worry about internet anymore. Staying connected while on the road becomes so easy because of Holafly eSim.

Now let's get back to exploring Budapest even more, have fun and explore. Good morning, I have all the intention to actually film an episode from Budapest. I had all the ideas, plans in mind but I got sick straight away as soon as I arrived. And I have my first week written off. It's really sad but I'm just going to try to explore the city today with the energy I have left.
I do want to show you though the area that I've been staying at because this building is quite historical. As you can see the details of this high ceiling and over there is the entrance to my hostel. My impression so far of the city is that not only it has got some sense of Central European aspect to it because obviously historically it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire but there was a certain time when it was part of the communist, meaning that the Soviet Union. So there's a lot of grittiness that was left in the city.
So I'm hoping to do today is because I have only got a few hours before my train departs. Can you see those three statues attached to the buildings? I've actually passed by these buildings many times but didn't realize it and turned out it's so gorgeous and unique. A certain aspect of Pest reminds me of Belgrade in Serbia. I think I am aiming to visit this particular cafe I found on Google Maps. So I have got a seating already. I ordered eggs benedict with a flat white.
I think this cost in total would be I predict around 10 euros. It's absolutely my comfort zone. It's really popular your cafe.
We love our customers. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. That's so kind. Thank you. I'm currently crossing into Vaci street which is some of the historical area of the city because the shopping arcades of this area has existed since the 19th century. Over here you get to see a display of art that resembles moon and over here you get to see a bit of cafes with people sitting out.
We get to see a really cool area where actually lots of locals live here and what's beautiful is the veranda, the patio, courtyard. It's just quite charming. There's so many nooks and crannies that you can explore and find yourself in a very very interesting area. Do you know the Hungarian Jewish is some of the biggest Jewish community in East Central Europe? Welcome to the Dohany Synagogue which is extremely popular among tourists because this is a very important symbol to the Jewish community.
What's fascinating is that Dohany Synagogue is also the largest synagogue in Europe. If you're interested in learning more about the Jewish community in the city this is definitely a place for you to be. So I'm going to take the yellow tram which runs every four minutes because I am hoping to go to Central Market Hall. What's great about my experience having an internet is that I'm able to actually download an app called Budapest Go.
Now my second tram is actually coming. Let's go. Purchase in progress. So I need to validate this and scan QR code and therefore my ticket actually validates. I think this is where I have to get off. That was so cute. I think you can
definitely purchase ticket in person on the tram but I have not seen anyone actually doing that. So I don't know if they're actually getting free rides or there's some sort of way to actually purchase the ticket elsewhere. Welcome to the Central Market Hall in Budapest. It opens every day until 4 pm.
Over here you have got some unique souvenirs, Hungarian honey specialties and this dried paprika which I find it very special to Hungarian. If you think the first floor is not interesting, not to worry. The second floor has got fridge magnet, postcards. Obviously this is not where the local would shop I suspect because prices are targeted and catered to its tourists. If you're hungry, not to worry because there's a section where lots of food stalls are available for tourists coming from different grills and sandwiches. You have got langos which is probably a Hungarian version of grape and pizzas.
I'm leaving the historical Central Market building which looks gorgeous from outside because this was historically built in 1896. But I am actually taking you towards the Liberty Bridge. Often tourists would take the tram to cross the bridge. Especially during the day that gets really hot like this. As part of cultural experience I'm actually walking along the Liberty Bridge which connects the Buda side of the city as well as Pest.
And you can see the Danube River which actually divides both cities and this is one of the three bridges that exist in the city and historically very important because of these bridges than Budapest exists. At night you can actually see the city view all lit up beautifully. I think you can definitely appreciate the gorgeous details of this Liberty Bridge because some of the metal works are very intricate. If you can see Buda is a bit more hilly whereas Pest is actually quite flat therefore making it a lot easier for you to walk around. I am sitting in front of the Magnificent Gellert Hotel which is one of the most iconic buildings in the city.
And I think because this hotel and bath complex was erected in the 20th century as part of exploitation of the natural hot springs. I would have loved to do it if I have got more time but I have a train to catch. I actually admire the main facade of this hotel because it's so grand isn't it? I'm taking you to a slightly higher up perspective from Buda. This part of the
hotel is actually where all the tourists would go to experience thermal baths. It looks so grand this building I just love it. So if you keep walking over here you get to not only see the buildings over there there's actually a terrace that you can enjoy the view from afar.
I mean obviously if the weather is not so hot I would have loved to climb up there even more. But I think what I'm interested in more is actually walking along the Danube River behind me because Danube is actually really important it spans all the way to Serbia. I think when a city is this walkable or psycho is extremely friendly to tourists. This is the Elizabeth Bridge which is an important bridge that was named after the Queen Elizabeth of Bavaria. I think this was built in the 1903. I feel like walking along Elizabeth Bridge doesn't feel as momentum or historical as walking along the Liberty Bridge. I'm actually
back to where I started the tour today but I do want to show you these two. These two twin buildings they are gorgeous they are actually Klotild Palaces and beautifully decorated twin buildings that forms a magnificent gateway to the Elizabeth Bridge over there. This area is where I have been staying behind this trees and I'm going to take my luggage to get to the train station.
Hello sorry I was walking around there and I don't know where you are. I thought the train station is called Keleti. Keleti, Kalenford is the same. No it's not the same. But I can't seem to find Keleti on the app. Keleti and Kelenford, okay. So that's the right
destination. Okay, thank you! Thank you so much bye. Part of solo traveling is trying to be independent because you cannot rely on anyone else but yourself. That's where the train station is. Hello sorry, uh Eger? No? Okay, excuse me! Sorry, do you know uh this is my ticket to Eger, which platform is it? Number two or? No, you are uh at the wrong station! Ah...
really? Yes uh this station is literally at the other side of the city Okay, okay! Thank you. What?! Alright so I have to book another taxi to the other side of the city. I have just made it 30 minutes prior to this. Now, thank goodness for the taxi driver because he was so sweet and made sure to beat the traffic. Right let's see if I can manage to find the right platform! Wow look at this gorgeous interior building of the train station I love me some train stations so perfect Oh wow this is my dream come true! Oh look at this train! I have no words! I don't know how to explain it but I feel so at home at train stations. It's just absolutely gorgeous!
I was so frustrated earlier but seeing trains just fixed me! Eger? Eger? Okay thank you! I am so relieved that I'm here. If you're so confused just ask locals! This is Matias, we were neighbors on the train. He was so surprised at the fact that I am excited about trains and locomotives! Look at this! Oooh... That is so cool! That was my train from Budapest to Eger. Matias is so kind! Yeah, you can pay the taxi by card! Ah, okay okay okay, thank you! Matias is just helping me with the taxi. So sorry it's heavy! Thank you Matias! I have made it. I am just
I'm just so relieved to be able to sleep and rest a little bit. I have actually booked a 4 -night stay at this studio apartment. Over here you have got the kitchen, we've got a microwave, bed for the night, a table that works perfectly as my working table, a tv and a bathroom over there. So yeah let me know again what you think down in the comment section below I love reading your comment! Please just write anything to support this video and this channel, so that it can reach wider audience because I pushed myself so much today even though I'm still a bit sick. Yeah please check out the exclusive link I have for you with Holafly! Definitely, without internet I just don't know what I'll be doing on my travels today. It's
proven to be really really essential! I can't wait to see again on the next video. Bye!
