Well I'd worked as a professional chef for 20 years And were really tired of staying behind the stove Decided to have an adventure and create a story Traveled all the way from Cape Town to Dublin, Ireland On a little 150cc Vespa Scooter And unfortunately I became very ill in the middle of Africa And Shortly after the trip In June of 2014 it cost me my sight I spent a year learning to walk again and put my life back together and And now I've reinvented myself I did finish the book The book became much of a much, much a larger story Because of course it wasn't only about my scooter trip but about going blind and Now I do crazy things as a blind person I'm a blind adventurer and Publish books about that And you're testing motorcycles And I do reviews of bikes, yeah I become the pillion so I've got a buddy who, who pilots and takes pictures I organize the trip, I'm the pillion and I write the stories So at the house at the moment we have We have two books I'm just showing the books now Right How I become the blind scooter guy, right And the other one is Sightless from Sicily to Southern France you walked I pedaled, I pedaled, I walked I did a little bit of everything So I went ahead on that journey and The famous blind explorer from the 19th century called James Holman I did a recreation of his first journey And looked at modern day travel vs. how it was for person a hundred years ago Because we got Uber Eats and Uber taxis, Airbnb Google Maps and he of course doesn't have that But he also had advantages He could yell coming people from far and People will be a little bit more generous with their time and food and If I knocked on the door at 8 o'clock at night I would have been arrested more likely Wow You are an incredible person really We're both Honored to meet you and, and To stay in your house with you Thank you so much for this little interview It's great having you here Thank you Cool So you guys ready? My riding buddies are you ready? Yeah Yeah okay, let's do a little interview now Right, okay Guys, so where are you from? We're from the United States, Alabama Alabama And what do you do here in South Africa at the moment? We are just traveling And riding around the Southern Africa - On one motorcycle? On a motorcycle On a motorcycle, but you guys long time overlanders - Yeah You wrote a book as well and what was your book about?
