Staying at an ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORT in OAXACA, MEXICO!!
Hello from the beautiful Huatulco, Oaxaca! I'm here for my birthday and today in my second video ever... For her 30th birthday! My 30th birthday with this beautiful specimen right here. Specimen [laughs] So today I wanted to do a video, a type that I've never in my four years on youtube done, where I'm not going to edit anything out of this video. What you see is what happened on this side of the camera at this all-inclusive resort called Dreams. It's a dream. Not secrets [laughs] uh even though we did get a cab to secrets only to find out that is in fact not where I booked the reservation. It's something I would do. We went to the wrong hotel. She booked us for Dreams but we went to Secrets, so that's our secret but not anymore. That's
my big secret but the cat's out of the bag, so um I do want to show you what this all-inclusive is like. This is the most I've ever paid for a hotel in my entire life. I believe for the two nights here it was approximately $800 USD for the two of us and... Well what do you think so far? Oh i love it. It's totally different like it's funny because well first
off if you want to check out the view you see like oh yes all the rocks here. I'll do a 360 you keep talking. The rocks and it's just so beautiful it's like after living in the Riviera Maya for so long it's just so like flat. That's true (inaudible) And the sand it's like really
coarse and it's hot so I'm not used to that, but it's still very beautiful it's just totally different. There's the kayaker saying hi Yeah, it's very like sea shelly sand. I should probably say this to the-- this is a directional mic, so I'm like how do I even do that? It's sea shelly sand. How do i show you? Yeah, so I think her idea was just to kind of do a walk-through and to show you the hotel because you know a lot of times you get edited videos and you don't know what it's actually like to walk to each place or know the area very well. Well and not to mention I think sometimes you can make a masterpiece out of something that's like in my experience we go oh this footage sucked or like, the day didn't go how we wanted it to or whatever, so I've never done this before I just wanted to give it a try and show you the beauty of this uh resort and the beach here I love it. I keep forgetting we're in Oaxaca too because they'll be like,
oh do you want tequila, mezcal? And it's like oh what tequila do you have? Oh what mezcal do you have? Wait we're in Oaxaca this is the land of mezcal, mole, alebrijes. Oh wait until I show you in the front here. Oh, how am i getting out of breath just walking through the sand? It like sucks you—oh gosh—it sucks you in, okay. Hold on.
They've got this— I got four pounds of sand in my shoes. I know, they've got this great thing where you step in the water and it washes off your uh your feet, but if you've got shoes on it doesn't really help. So they've got tons of pools i think there are like six pools at this resort. We got a bar here. Bar-restaurant. This is where we ate last night. Yeah this
is their seafood one. And by the way, this is not a sponsored video or anything I literally paid this money out of my own pocket to stay at this all-inclusive. Oh look at this. You've got this infinity pool with this spectacular view. And there's two infinity pools which
i think there's one adult infinity pool and there's one kid pool because this is a family resort. Yep, when we were at Secrets they were like it's adults-only. And it's like, is it— is there like an age requirement? Where you, you know, have to be 70 or older? It was a bit older. So we're actually glad, we're like oh we can tell it's a little bit of a younger crowd yeah not young like we feel like we're kind of the youngest. Hello!
We made some friends last night. Yes we made friends and we tried to get Maddie to karaoke. This girl can sing. Sometime you got to hear her. I'm going to get her on video singing for you guys because she's oh amazing. Okay if there's one cut in the video it might be
here where I think you recorded me. I did, I did. Maybe I can put that in there. So okay, our room is somewhere on the top floor. No in fact, I think the one that you can see up there, with the shades open, that's ours. So it's like oceanfront they say, although I think that's a little deceptive because there's quite a bit of space between that building and the actual ocean but it has an amazing view. What else we got here? Oh that's
where we ate breakfast where they gave us the world's biggest cup of Bailey's to put in our coffee. I mean, it was literally like an entire cup of Bailey's. Like, you want a cup of Bailey's? You asked for it. Do you want the whole bottle? Here you go. [laughs] Yeah this is the adult side. Oh! The big adults. Oh so it's actually, yeah. There's one that only allows kids and then this one is the adults-only—the big kids. Oh let me get a little bit of that. It actually is— even though— It's my job to hold her drink —February, we're here in February, all the ice is melted out of this because it's actually pretty hot.
Yeah, it's probably, I don't know, 30 celsius, 90. 80? No, it's like 85. You think so? Okay. Here you go drink slave, please hold this for me. Yes, done. That's my job I'm good at it. Wait i think you got a little— Oh I always have a little something on my face that I'm saving for later. It's the salt. And this is something that i always ask for it's called sal de gusano, yes and it's a different type of salt from worms. Worm salt that goes on mezcal. Oh yeah I probably have it all over my face.
I usually have boogers and stuff in my teeth and all kinds of stuff. And now we gotta fill up all this space with talking because there's copywritten music in the background. So this kind of— I mean, you could walk through the entire resort all these pools— Should we walk to the end and show them all the rocks and stuff? Yes oh this morning we were climbing up over these rocks, which at first was like a nice reflexology treatment, and then eventually it became a torture session because it's like raw. It makes your the bottoms of your feet raw. But there were these giant crabs crawling around everywhere and this little— No they're sea...what are they called? Ocean? Oh uh, ocean spiders, I call them ocean spiders. They're like ocean spider uh what do you call those things? They're crabs, they're blue crabs. No, no what's the other thing I was saying? Scorpions. Ocean crab, no spider scorpions.
Yep, that's a technical name. Yeah here. Oh it does, it says adults only, okay. So then yeah, they also have these little palapas and then there's... There's not that many people here. The occupancy is very low. What did they say 60%? But i don't even think it's that. The fact that there are any chairs underneath these palapas kind of says that
to me. And we saw all kinds of fish when we went down to the ocean. Like right [points] Oh we actually can see that here. Where the person's snorkeling right now. Yeah. Let's go down there. Okay let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it, do it, to it, do it to it.
Yeah and let us know if you guys have stayed here what you thought, or if you stayed in— Because there's Dreams— I live like literally a mile away from Dreams in Puerto Morelos and it's totally different. I used to live— What's that thing you say? I used to live between Dreams and Excellence. Or what was it? Yeah, I'll never forget I was in a forum on Facebook and I was looking for a cleaning lady like six years ago. Holy heck that's hot. And they're like where do you live and I'm like—and people that don't know the resort names, it was just funny—I was like oh, I live between Dreams and Excellence and somebody replied, they're like, that's a nice place to live. It's a good spot to be in.
Absolutely yeah. So behind us now you can see this resort. I feel like this is just like a whole— You're like no! I didn't know which way you were going. Here I am, here I am baby. I feel like this kind of seems like a promo for this all-inclusive resort but it is not. Like i said, I did spend- it's just a walkthrough -much of my own dinero.
All of it! But this, by the way, this was like a little birthday present to myself and I like it. We're only staying here for two nights but. Look! This is what she was...oh wait. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. You were totally obsessed with these earlier. Look how pretty this is it's like iridescent. And I got one, I found one that was like orange and blue this one's not exactly like that but look at how pretty this is. Okay let's see if we can see these fish. It's like its own bay. It is. It feels very private because it's literally its own bay. And yeah, so there's like one other hotel over there
that i think has access to this but it is pretty private. And someone this morning was telling us that they have all these fish that hang out here because people feed them bananas and bread. I'm like bananas? Fish eat bananas? And I never encourage people to feed the animals, I'm just saying. Just feed the humans not
that not the animals. Because then it just kind of trains— I mean it's nice to see them —but then it just kind of trains them to like rely on us, you know. And I was saying i've never seen a socialized fish before. They're super socialized. I mean, it's a whole school of them. I mean, if you feed me I'd do the same thing. um so yeah here behind me these are the rocks that we climbed over i don't actually know that we can do that with uh the camera going try over you want me yeah we'll peek over it was like another hotel and it seemed which looked like almost like a house like a big mansion imagine that's like your commute home yeah see he's he's got the shoes on though that's the shoes that you want for this not these and i'm you're gonna leave your shoes here right your flippy floppies because otherwise i'd probably break these yep okay oh and we haven't even gone inside the hotel but oh geez get off okay yeah perfect i look like i'm ready for like an instagram photo shoot she is ready for an instagram photo shoot even though that's not what i do but you know go back down here again do you okay with you so much okay see okay finishing in the way too okay okay so um i wanted to show you this part over here super super beautiful like the water comes rushing in here and around this little bend oh the color of the water is so gorgeous i didn't actually think it was going to be this like turquoisey blue because in the morning it's like when the light's not shining directly on it doesn't look like that but okay over here is where the krabby crabs were well they weren't too crabby they were scary crabs scaredy craps oh this is still here trish she did hbd maddie happy birthday maddie still can't believe i'm turning 30. it's a very weird weird thing oh here's here's the crafts i don't know if you can see them i gotta be careful because look at these rocks like the the shells are literally like permanently stuck in there so how is this made this is so wild oh yeah let's see um oh there's a little little guy oh over there you can see i think over there you can see them and there's a ton like right there but this is spectacular this i i keep speaking on the other side of the microphone so it's going to be hard to hear me but this is spectacular this is amazing i cannot believe i'm here right now and i cannot believe after four years in mexico i had not made it to the oaxacan coast until now bonkers why it's uh i'm regretting it i'm regretting all of it but better late than never eh oh my gosh and the water surprisingly well last night it was really cold to me it felt really cold we met some canadians and they're like the water is so warm and it's like what um but it feels so good now especially now that the sand is all heated up trishi ayudame all right let's see what i can do here so here's what we're working with show me what you're working with there's like nothing to grab on to nope try again okay just gotta get a little oomph behind there trisha she has abandoned me my friend has abandoned me did she i'm actually shocked i did this with a camera in my hand by myself huh yeah milagro okay see i thought that's like slippers yeah chocolates can be like kind of anything that's like a flip floppy survived without me i did and there were crabs oh are you okay i just got stuck on oh you are oh grass was stuck on me i thought it was a crab that is challenging well i don't know i'm gonna walk through the hotel a little bit like yeah the lobby yeah are you bored yet is this exciting i'm actually please let me know what you think of this style video because like i said um i've been editing videos now on tangerine travels for four years so i'm the editor at all this i'm literally thinking as i'm recording okay here's how here's the clip that i would put on top of that i would make a cut here yeah i realized as i was talking to this guy that does tours the camera was like face to the side so then i'd be like great that's unusable but yeah but i think it's nice like i was telling her something i did a couple walk-through videos before it's just nice to know like what it feels like instead of a sorry it's so hot that's nice it's not liking the seafood we did yes we did i never found the restaurant oh really it's the one on the end yeah by the palapa bar over there yeah yeah yeah yeah super good i got steak and i got shrimp and i got salmon yeah it's super fresh yeah flavorful you gotta try this italian one okay yeah tonight is italian's good oriental is good awesome good to know take care thank you take care all right you want to go up here yes get me out of the hot sand extending this like oh there's another bar here oh another falafel bar barracuda i didn't make that up but that's that that is something that i would say probably do you want me to order you a fresh drink and catch up or do you want to keep going um no we can keep going okay actually it is a little early to be drinking but you know it's five o'clock so i'm wearing birthday week birthday week has no rules yeah the only issue she might have with this video is the some of the parts the copyright and music so but um like i said if we talk fast enough over top of it then that's a little trick picked up over the years there you go get that view love you this view right here just make sure everybody knows i'm coming so we definitely haven't been over here i don't know what's over there i think we should go inside the lobby yeah and show the adults of the adult pool everybody as we're walking around pretty cool i think everyone's kind of like what the heck are these guys doing oh i got a nice my friend my friend busy over here though i want to go here yeah after this we're getting the party's at where the party is at okay so lobby and then there's like seating above there that's out yeah lobby show you that so that's why they had karaoke that maddie should have been singing in last night oh i know we're gonna get her singing on this video oh on this video yeah no no maybe i mean on a video on a video like i said maybe i'll put that one that you sneak recorded me and you did that in the last video too my first video on maddie gold on this channel by the way please subscribe thank you thank you very much thank you very much yeah she's like the thing is is that i feel like we all feel that way like we might have a talent but we're kind of scared to share it and we doubt ourselves so i'm just here to be like you can do it you are like my biggest cheerleader i'm your biggest biggest fan biggest cheerleader although now i'm saying that my mom and dad are like how dare you how dare you say that no i was the og supporter yeah they really have been though okay so this is the kids pool another kids pool yeah i think well i should say with kids a lot with kids yeah oh if you want one hold it this way it's so bright too i should have brought my sunglasses um yeah so we got people enjoying it here like i said i think that's a room up there this is a great view here's what we calculated it was a pretty decent breakfast i would say i thought it was pretty good i mean especially with things being shut down for covid and all that and now everything's reopening they really had good options yeah i will say um no it looks kind of close closed oh wait okay we'll show you what it looks like let me tell that to the microphone we had a little buffet style thing going on over there oh and it's ac in here for something good yeah it's so good it's nice because there's windows all around and i felt that way about the cafe i was like man the cocoa cafe oh here you can see oh careful cafe right up there where they could make a karahilo my favorite they actually made a bailey's catahew which was pretty cool so the one thing that i'll say um given what i paid given what the room looks like and the offerings that they have i can't honestly say that i would spend this much on this hotel again i'm enjoying it yes it's a it's an awesome experience yeah it's older our hotel our toilets are singing if you like singing toilets get our room it's 36.45 yeah and i was gonna say no don't tell
them that but we'll be on by the time this close obviously oh so here we've got another one which if you're not familiar with alabriques they were created in oaxaca and they usually represent more than one animal usually three to five different types of animals that one is like a dragon lizard oh it's two-headed too so then here they even have their sign dreams painted like a labrije style look at this one how pretty is that i mean this thing is huge is that enormous am i allowed to sit on this i don't think so i wouldn't think i can sit on it it'd be my dream it'd be my dream to sit and my friend had told me about this that the people that are the original like alebrique creators um that were inspired actually coco was inspired partly by them she said that they are the ones that created and made this one behind us so i thought that was really cool to hear that story and that's more in oaxaca city i think is where the workshop is and maddie said she had actually visited that yes before and basically they showed us how it takes years and years and years of apprenticeship and doing the tiny tiny little details before they're considered a master of it which i think don't quote me on this but i think it's about six years that they have to practice and like hundreds or thousands of hours yeah we haven't really gone this way my sand our water down just shark sand everywhere not bad well this one is usually they're more like you'll see scales of a fish and feathers of a bird and the head of a of a lion you know so i mean i feel like this is pretty much it it's actually not that big of a resort like compared to something even right which is nice because you have space but you're not having to walk so far everywhere you know exactly you have to walk far to get your drinks or your food no is that the important stuff two restaurants one for breakfast this morning and then yesterday okay please forgive me there's going to be this one cut in the video because after everything i realized how can i not show you the room at this place that's like that's where we're staying how can i not do that so walking out to the room now um again i would avoid 36 45 oh no munches no munchies uh happy birthday oh man oh man that's cute so i didn't know this was gonna happen i thought i was just gonna be showing you the room at least it's clean now oh my gosh that's so cute it says happy birthday in flowers i've never had this in my life is it so horrible oh let me show you here here wait wait look at the fruits of the mezcal look at this oh i'm going to die of happiness and look at this what is this fruits beautiful fruits and miscot look at this oh my gosh a lobster thingy oh it's so cute oh i love it wait you got to see the view too oh yes we do oh by the way here's the room um it's honestly the same toilet this honestly is pretty basic i would expect it to be a little bit more for given the price that i paid but it's it's nice it's nice-ish it's good enough it's passable what you're really getting here though which are really good i'm sorry what so it's beautiful but it is a little older yes it's older and it's not like doesn't have all the bells and whistles but you know here's what you're really getting let me show you look at this spectacular view oh my gosh oh so there's some where we were you know that's that's the kid pool that's an adult pool that's another adult pool that's where i was like climbing up and over those rocks and where those fish were here's more of the hotel another like kiddie pool area i mean this this this is what you're paying for here what's this what's this i just got a little note this is so cute i don't know if you can see it it says dear tricia and maddie we wish you the warmest welcome at dreams watuco resort and spa hoping that your stay in watercolor will be unforgettable but i love how they put our names so cute love it yeah oh and so this is like all-inclusive status here um they have set up a where's the lights um little like espresso bar we've got some snacky snacks in here snack snacks we have it filled up with some sodas and oh no this wasn't here before [ __ ] we got some champagne that makes more sense now because there's uh champagne flutes over there i was like is that for the mezcal though cathy awesome oh i got champagne with challenge birthday happy birthday happy 30th birthday and then of course last but not least our sinking toilet our singing toilet should i flush it just so you guys can hear it so here i mean it's like you know basic they oh this is also um they gave us some little incense and everything like even the razor toothbrush yeah everything so lotion shampoo no shower gel shampoo body lotion and the singing toilet and the signature lid just wait watch it doesn't it nope i don't think i'm matching that tone okay and we're back to the video i just gotta pop in here and from the future and say this video really was my first impression of dreams and of watulko dreams you know we're only at this all-inclusive resort that's not the town or anything but i think based on my very limited view of the place uh you know they say don't judge a book by its cover well i completely did that we're checking out now it's a day later over a day later the employees were phenomenal i've been treated like royalty here literally they figured out that it was my birthday well figured out we told everyone it was my birthday and about allergies they brought special cake and champagne to the room fruits this was one of the best experiences i've had in mexico do i think it's worth the 400 a night if it wasn't my birthday and we weren't getting this extra stuff i don't know but i will remember this experience forever and i'm so glad we did this and i'm so glad you've been here also it's been awesome we really love the staff they've been so like we feel like we're visiting friends yeah i mean they're like taking care of us like we're friends so it's just been really awesome exactly like that we're the best of friends and they're going above and beyond in that way like it's your favorite person in the world and you want to do everything for danielle we love you we want to take you with us everywhere we laugh at all our jokes come with us thank you for sticking around to the end if you did let me know what you thought of
