SSL624 ~ They're getting CLOSER..!!
we are on our first test sail alone as a family of three (yeah wow) and we have a perfect day (two) (and three) and we have an absolutely perfect day, the sun is out, the wind is perfect it's on the beam, 15 knots, it's straight out of the east, so we are going to make a straight shot to the south end of the island through the channel and we got permission from port control already we're going to go around and come up the west side of the island, again we should be on pretty close to a beam reach because the wind is going to be right on our starboard side on that side, and once we get there we're going to anchor out the cove and probably spend a couple of days chilling, it's something we've never done before, they've never... (have permits) we never had permission because all anchorages on the island were closed during all times of covid, lockdown and all of that so we're doing awesome we got 16 knots apparent we're doing six and a half knots right now it's absolutely beautiful, we have our two friends with us behind, so we're doing it as a group sail three boats (yeah we...) yeah Ollie and Sandra are right behind us (yeah) just got their main sail up (and Nonna Rosa) and Nonna Rosa right behind them, so very cool, we're all going to go for a nice sail and then probably have a nice dinner anchored in the cove (the water is always amazing color) (you see everyone have a mainsail open) (what a beautiful day, really, it's a very long time) and yeah we have our main sail up and our jib also, we're under full sail right now, but I still have the engine at idle just because we're in the channel, so if anything happens we need quick response I don't want to have to worry about is the engine going to start, so we leave it running till we clear the channel then we'll shut that off, but we literally sailed off the anchor I used the engine just to pull up, so that we didn't load the windlass too much because we're still hoping the windlass doesn't die on us before the new one arrives, yeah that is something we do have to replace it's uh it's quite damaged, we learned that in the last instance when it crashed out on us, so we had to take it apart and yeah it's it's got some issues, so we got a rebuild kit, but we got a new one coming also, so we're working on that and yeah for now we're just going to keep our fingers crossed that today works out... we're hoping for almost perfect sails no issues paying attention everything on the boat watch for any leaks, watch for anything overheating, just we don't want any issues but we're just prepared for whatever comes our way, so wish us luck here we go (hey Tiki) (and you you're ready for the first day with the family? you're ready) (yeah I don't listen yourself, your words, yeah thank you) (gadino is the first sail in the ocean in open water, eh? what are you thinking? eh? is the first of the many many many sailing together, many travel together) (so quiet my little baby, three months old you just sailing, and you just take the first flight and you become a very sailer and traveler, sure, is sailing very well capitan) 7.2 knots we're straight up wind now, winds at about 45-50 degrees, we're just coming up on the cove you can see one of the navy destroyers is there, but the wind's right on the beam coming across this shallow area of the island of course we're just coming up on this hills here, so those hills are going to stall our window pretty soon, so just making as much ground as we can now and then we might have to head offshore or just settle for a very slow sailing until we get up there, but right now it's beautiful, 7.2 knots, 7.4, 7.5, very nice we got Nonna Rosa right on out tail (yeah they are behind us very close, it's a very nice sail day and look at the blue, the blue is the water it's a lot of time that we didn't saw this color you don't see this a lot of time capitan junior sleeping very well) (you remember the last time that we've been here?) yeah and that's the same ship I think, that's captain Nelson's frigate I think, I recognize the four missile launchers (it's time to anchor) okay we are here, just positioning for anchor and drop the main sail (how are you?) (it's a very great spot, it's beautiful the water) (we brought our security team with us) and here comes Ollie and Sandra, just coming in past the ships now don't get too far away, how does he like it? (hi daddy hi daddy) Ricardo's first floating island hey little Richie there's a nice smile somebody having fun (yeah in the water with mommy) wow somebody having fun where did you guys come from? (look my friend calls real calls) oh nice, he's still alive (they have a dinner for this night) for one person? (yeah almost I think so) how's the water? (very good) looks very clear eh? (you swim today?) not yet I'm working on the cockpit, we have [ __ ] everywhere (Ricardo's swimming) yeah Ricardo's swimming so I still have to record him yeah we saw the drone I thought it must have been us or our friends again, but it was you nice view? (very beautiful blue turkey less) nice turquoise (turkey less) turquoise (is mine?) (you want to dive friday?) I've been organizing our dive locker today that's what we've been doing, taking all the dive gear out and organizing it (thursday, wednesday, thursday, three days to do that now) Maddie's looking at a place to do diving next weekend (okay) it's a special day today, we back La Regatta haven't been here in a little while but today is Magnolia's surprise birthday party (yeah and we go to eat for lunch with a lot of friends) yeah all of our sailing buddies are here today, our favorite place (yeah we come back) (it's a lot of time eh capitan?) well yeah it's been about three months since we were here last time I think we came in just after we arrived back in the island, but uh three months yep it's been a while, wow look they got new buildings and everything here, looks cool, oh picture time I love the ambience of this place, so cool, colors and pirates and a few empties (cool in the night and cooling the day, very nice) birthday girl! happy birthday! okay, so today's not only Magnolia's birthday it's international... Ipanema Ipanema is arriving cool, Jose you remember Jose we were just at his wife's birthday party well yesterday, hopefully it was yesterday in the videos I don't know, but but yeah he's just arriving come to join us on this side of the island which is cool, it's been very nice, a little bit rolly, but nice, today it's stabilized a little bit, so I'm happy about that, yeah looks like he's going to join us in the anchorage here and then we will be four, four boats, so you can see our other friends are still here too Nonna Rosa, and we and now Ipanema but this my friends this is what you call a cruiser potluck all the boats in the neighborhood just invited to come and bring whatever and hang out and have dinner (yeah) so welcome everybody! thanks for coming thanks for bringing, and now it's dinner time if you don't look the eyes it's 7 years of bad sex everybody does it again (look at me) we head that warning right? cheers (okay we are all ready, after almost a year, I go to dive, I'm so happy with our very good friend Jose Valentina then he is almost already, and Larry oh Larry you have a better camera than me better camera than me) (but my battery's dead) oh okay) (I think yours is better right now) (yeah) (make it like a babysitter today, Rick, capitan Rick working. in his station, and us hopefully we have fun underwater) (hopefully) (I have no idea what they're saying, I'm just going along for the ride)
