Publicity campaign of pokali waterfall through documentary
HIGHLIGHTS (Intro) Dear viewers, I Tikadas Shrestha would like to greet you all from Aadarsha Khabar Today we would like to inform you that we have brought in front of you a special material related to Pokali waterfall of Likhu village, a tourist destination of Okhaldhunga. Nepal is a fertile ground for tourism in terms of natural, religious, cultural, and geological heritage. There is a lot of potentials to develop Nepal as the first destination in the world and to establish the country's economy. The government may not be able to provide employment to thousands of people by opening factories immediately, but if it recognizes the beautiful areas rich in natural, archeological, religious, cultural and geological heritage in different parts of the country and makes them a destination for quality tourism, then the foundation of the prosperity of the country can be laid. From there, local people can create self-employment. The unique resource given to us by nature can be a sustainable source of income.
Nepal's tourism business can flourish through our archeological, religious, cultural, and geological heritage. Lately, the number of people who have been attracted to this sector in Nepal has also started increasing. There are many ways to attract tourists to Nepal, including physical and immaterial cultural heritage, biodiversity, mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing, yachting, paragliding, and bungee jumping.
Nepal's religious sector is one of the most popular in the world. The Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj, the organization established on the initiative of the Pokali residents of Likhu Village Municipality-9. Chief Guest, the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shri Yadav Prasad Koirala, special guest, Member of the Constituent Assembly and former Member of Parliament MP Ramhari khatiwoda, Under the special Guest of former MP Bal Krishna Dhungel, The organization has completed the program of releasing a documentary on the historical, religious, natural and tourist areas of Likhu 1 to 9 We are going to show you the viewers about the activities in the documentary release program and the report prepared about Pokali Jharna. We request you to subscribe to our channel to watch such new videos coming from our channel and also to give us more encouragement by leaving your queries in the comments. SUBSCRIBE!! At present, the work of identifying new destinations in Nepal and launching various programs for its development and promotion has begun.
The local people are beginning to believe that new doors of development will open automatically through tourism. With this in mind, the Government of Nepal had identified 100 destinations with the goal of attracting 2 million tourists to Nepal by 2020. After the success of Pokali Jharna and Tholedemba hill, the local people and the government are working in identifying their area. Among them, the residents of Pokali of Okhaldhunga have been trying to attract tourists by identifying the tourist area on behalf of Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj. In the development of the destination chosen by the government, the local government and social organizations have already started the work of attracting internal and external tourists.
The Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj has organized the tourism festival three times before the Nepal government chose the destination, has released a documentary this time with the slogan 'Our nature is our pride, Pokali Jharna is the identity of Okhaldhunga'. Mr. Milan Bishta, President of Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj, expressed his views on the activities of Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj to develop Pokali Jharna as a tourist destination. In the year 2065, we hosted the biggest tourism festival in Okhaldhunga. During the festival, the then Prime Minister, Tourism Minister, Tourism Secretary, Chief of the Nepal Army Rukmagat Katuwal and other personalities were able to identify Pokali by taking them to Pokali Jharna. Similarly, we hosted the festival continuously for three years. The word of the festival was not even known in Okhaldhunga at that time. This Pokali waterfall of Okhaldhunga is 131 meters high.
The Government of Nepal has declared Pokali Jharna and Tholedemba Dando as the two most suitable places in Okhaldhunga. Similarly, the Ministry of Information and Communication of the Government of Nepal has issued postage stamps. The envelope is printed. Similarly, our organization, local people, political leaders, social workers are working hard to declare this waterfall as a tourist area. The historical waterfall of this country is 174 km from Kathmandu to Pokali of Okhaldhunga. Now the road is easy. We can go two ways.
You know the historical temple of Narmadeshwor, Narmadeshwor after coming out of Ramechhap, Sanghutar through Khurkot. Similarly, we will show its crooked people as a historical place in this documentary. Similarly, Maitakunda of Gamnang is a famous Devithan where a month-long procession takes place. Similarly, the Bhakare stone of Tarkerabari has a historical carpet style. Whatever style we have captured in the documentary.
We will take you to see the Pokali waterfall site through Tarkerabari. Similarly, Manakamana Devi in the west, and Chulidevi in Okhaldhunga in the Middle East. We aim to take you to show different types of wildlife, 34 types of gunarosh flowers in Gauriwan.
The Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj aims to take tourists to the highest of the seven hills in Nepal i.e Thole hills via Khijidemba, and to Solu Pike. Next, the religious tourist passes through Pokali waterfall, passes through Maitakunda of Gamnang, Champadevi, We are trying to bring tourists from Halesi to Pokali Jharna. The route we had previously listed in the Red Book. That route is why the government of Nepal has removed it. Honorable Jews will say about this. We are very saddened by this. I gave a briefing on the activities done for the development of tourism. It was also necessary to give a briefing. Our program today will not be leader-oriented. Today, there is political turmoil in the country. We are all plagued by covid.
We didn't gather a lot of people at the event because of what happened today and what will happen tomorrow. We are going to propagate through communication, YouTube, Facebook, and in the sense that we must fight the disease and not sit inside anymore. We hope you will enjoy the documentary. We hope you will enjoy the documentary. We hope you'll subscribe, like And will help identify Pokali Falls at the national and international level.
And we will be able to declare Pokali Falls a tourist destination. You all know that Pokali Jharna needs a budget. We are lobbying with the local government, village government, state government and federal governments for the budget. We are submitting the application. At present, the village municipality has allocated Rs. 1 million for the master plan. Similarly, we are trying to make many master plans for the construction of extensive infrastructure at Pokali Jharna. In it, Balkrishna Brother will tell about the water park, picnic sport, religious legend in Pokali waterfall Due to Banjhakri's habitat and Banjhakri's cave, Banjhakri is still carrying people, so we are setting up a statue of Banjhakri there.
We are consulting Kamal Bhattarai for the statue. How many feet to keep? We are going to look at the statues of Banjhankri in Sikkim and put the statues accordingly. Similarly, we have come up with the concept of making a statue of Mahadev, 31 meters high, even though it could not be made 131 meters high due to the presence of Shiva. Similarly, there is another waterfall above the waterfall that we have seen for a closer look at the Pokali waterfall. So far no one was being able to see the perfect solution, which is not strange. Because there is a big mountain.
So we have come up with the concept of cutting a hill, making a ladder, putting a glass pool on top, building a waiting room. Similarly, as there is a tribal settlement around the waterfall, we are making a master plan to install a statue of Gautam Buddha there and to build Chaitya Gumbas. The Pokali waterfall is not too small during peak hours. However, due to the mentality of the people that the Pokali waterfall has become small, Pokali falls from two rivers. One is called Sele and the other is called Kali Khola. Due to the flat land in Sele Dobhan, one thousand crore liters of water will be collected and this water will give big support to the tourist area below. We are making a master plan for the construction of a dump to produce good fish and trout.
In this, we have persuaded the village municipality. Even after listening to our talk, a budget of Rs. 1 million has been allocated. Similarly, Mr. Narayan Raj Gautam, Founder General Secretary and Former Chairman of Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj, while expressing his views in the context of Pokali Jharna and the recently released documentary, said: There is a very beautiful Pokali waterfall in the western region of Okhaldhunga district and in the eastern northern region of Ramechhap district. People from all over the world can be expected to be tempted to experience the beauty of this unique natural waterfall. My homeland is also in the same place. We formed an organization called Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj in 2063 BS for the overall development and progress of our country.
We hoped that the organization would make a great contribution not only to the region but also to Okhaldhunga and Ramechhap districts. Accordingly, in the year 2065 BS, we organized a wide and detailed festival. We even managed to get the then Prime Minister. After that, physical infrastructure works have started taking place there. Initiatives are being taken for trekking to Pokali Tholedemba in the area, starting with roads, transportation, and even canoeing. Pokali Jharna, considered as one of the 100 destinations in the tourism year 2020, can be reached from Kathmandu via Khurkot, Manthali, Dhobi, Sirise Dhande and Leti.
It is a place for many hikers and poets to enjoy the natural beauty. We want to develop and advance this beauty. Until now, former CA members in this constituency, especially BP Koirala, have shown support for the development in the year 2015. After that, Bal Bahadur Rai, Bal Krishna Dhungel, Yagya Raj Sunuwar, Ram Hari Khatiwada and other elected members of the state assembly and village chairpersons have also provided assistance by keeping the budget. Work is being done for the physical infrastructure of the area. From that time till now, the founding presidents of our organization, Guru Kedar Baral, Buddhiman Dhungana, I myself, Chet Prasad Ghimire, Om Kumar Subedi and Jeevan Pariyar, among others, have worked day and night for the progress and development of the region. Currently, two hydropower projects have been started in the area. Likhu 3 and Likhu 4 projects have started. That will also make this sector more advanced.
Let's talk about the temple of Dugdheshwar Mahadev here. Let it be Narmadeshwar Mahadev of Sanghutar Paripatti, let it be Dhundhunge. We are hopeful that this place will be very developed, whether it is about the Bhakare Dhunga of Gamnangtar, Gauriban or from Pokali to Tholedemba and tourists can enjoy the natural beauty at the foot of Everest. We hope that there will be support from all for the development of a region. It can also be hoped that this will lead to the development of Nepal's eastern tourism sector. It is also a fertile area for grain storage. The same is true of fruit. There is also a lot of potential for other agricultural products. Social and economic issues can also be found. With the influx of tourists, it has become a place where a national awakening can be brought into the educational sector. As it is also a place of a high level of political consciousness, we can further raise the focus of Pokali, Likhu Ramechhap region.
We can awaken and sow. I hope we can add a new dimension to the country's progress. All the work done by the organization till now has been for the development and progress of this sector. Whether it is a recently published documentary or a postage stamp or a transport facility in the area, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to journalist Tikadas Shrestha for his contribution in publicizing this.
Looking at this program, I hope that everyone will support and support their homeland for the development of this region. Similarly, Narayan Bhandari of Janata Television and presenter of Triveni program, who explained the beautiful places of the tourist sites within the village in a beautiful way, said while introducing the documentary as follows: I have a mandate to share my experiences of what I experienced during the making of the documentary. Accordingly, I am going to say a few words. It would not be appropriate for me to spend too much time here. Many of you are waiting.
How did the documentary turn out? What do you think? Before you wait, let me say a few opening words. Which are included in the documentary. I had heard Pokali a long time ago. At that time, when CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda was the Prime Minister, he inaugurated a program there. I saw a small visual in that program. I had heard of Pokali Jharna in a very popular way. When will I go there? I felt like I should go and write something and explain something. I got that opportunity then. After waiting, it seemed to be succeeding. MP Bal Krishna Dhungel came to meet me. "Explain this hollow in the same way that you have spoken and written in the Triveni program," he said. I accepted because it was a matter of waiting.
It was the time of Covid epidemic. It was too scary to walk. But we took a car to go. We proceeded through Dhulikhel, observing the flow of the Namaste landfill and the shape of that time. And after leaving Sunkoshi, we went upstairs and reached Sanghutar. In Sanghutar, we visited the Narmadeshwor Mahadev temple.
There was a teacher named Rajkumar Shrestha. I talked to him. Now after that, the journey is to Okhaldhunga begins. I think we used to hear rocks around here. Towards Gorkha, towards Syangja. I am from Syangja. There are so many heroic mountains. We call it bear Mountain. I thought that would not be the case. After going up there, it is a very sharp mountain. It is a place where it stands firmly on a rock.
And the nature of Okhaldhunga, the power of Okhaldhunga is in this stone, I thought. Winning it is bravery. Who doesn't build a country in an easy place? Who doesn't build a country in plains? Development is the only way to make the country and the people happy. So I went there asking who had tried to win that big rock. After going upstairs, there was a learned Pandit. He said, "Balkrishna Dhungel is the one who dared to win this entire patrol. He is the man who fought with this patrol." If he weren't there, where would the car run on this rock? ”He remarked. Alas, he did a great job. And we lived on that side of Yasam. It rained heavily at night. Now a huge amount of water came as if it was going to the bottom.
We slept in fear. Vishnu was with us. He is a camera person. We went together on Janata Television. Also present was Chairman Milan Bista. Shambhu Sir was there. We stayed there and went to that hill. An ambulance driver had also died in an accident there recently. We crossed that slope in fear. Govinda Poudel, the chairman of the village municipality, also helped a lot. Then we arrived. We talked to the locals there. Especially this Kirat Pradesh Kirati words are used more there. We went to hear them saying that this Pokali is called so and so. There is a place called Gamnang. Our Milanji village is also a very fertile and beautiful place. Before that, I had asked the President of Sisnupani Nepal ''why people call you Gamnage?'' He said I was the man there. We said that his village is so beautiful. The name of the village is derived from a very natural word.
The word Kiranti also came to mean Gamnang, the word for bowing down to the honor of the earth when the rays of the sun came. And we slowly moved forward. We went ahead saying when we will reach Pokali waterfall. On the way, we stayed at the house of a Kirat brother. He showed a monster's head. That's it. After falling down from there, Pokali came. We were welcomed by Dugdheshwar Ama Samuha there. We reached Pokali. When we saw Pokali Chhanga, we became very weak. We were happy. The water is just as good. The best thing in the world is called water. As long as the water is full, the human body is beautiful and youthful.
When the water is gone and gone, the youth also goes away. Who sees after the youth is gone? The water was falling on the rock-like, is it the skin of a horse? Is it someone who is having fun? Is it anyone's hair? Is it a stream of water that someone has reverently turned away from? It can be said what it is. We watched the waterfall for a long time. We also did some good deeds with the locals. We also talked about happiness and sorrow. We also talked about waterfalls. We also talked about nature and the culture there. Nowadays we have become a little more materialistic. Stones, mud, houses, cement, iron rods, rods, just to see. We call it materialism. What is emotion within materialism? We have created a world where you don't look at the emotional side. But there we felt a very serious feeling within materialism.
We tried to do it with our soul and we saw it the next day as well. I had heard that there would be plenty of material development. What I said was that it's okay to decorate and make the pokali comfortable. But don't overdo it. Playing jhakri here means jhankri is also nature. There are things like Latte Jhankri, Rithe Jhakri. There are things about snakes. That is what our ancestors have been assimilating for ages. This is what people believe more later. I think they enjoy it.
At one point, I met the then Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling. "We Sikkimese have a population of 600,000," he said. We are attracting 11-12 thousand tourists out of a population of 600,000. The basis for this is natural beauty. Many other things we have nothing. ''Where I have a place to haunt a ghost or a banjakri, little dirty waterfalls from above. We have made that water to flow down.'' He said that most of the tourists are enjoying themselves there now. We just don't have that. Such a big waterfall, such a beautiful waterfall, such beautiful forest resources, herbs, water playing on the rocks there, you feel happy even when you touch it. But nowadays we only take photos, we make tik toks, etc. Well, that is also something brought by method and technology. But we are not limited to that.
Our tourism is so deep. When the westerners look at the mountains, they cry and turn their eyes away. But we have become so superficial. We don't look deeply at that mountain. Some say 'I went to Pokali to take a photo and post it on Facebook.' We should not come down from that surface. You have to learn to make a lot.
And we have expressed our intention not to make the physical structures that are built there in a way that suits nature and in a way that is only comfortable for human beings. Then we went to Leti village. We had paved the way from Leti to Khijidemba. But it was already raining. Floods and landslides caused Khijidemba and other beautiful high stoves and monasteries to be seen. But based on what I heard and some footage was shown to me by Lilaji. Based on that, I have written. Until then I saw. I haven't seen it since. I have done both reading and writing. You have given me this opportunity. Thank you
The other one is I'm connected to Okhaldhunga as Pokali waterfall. Pokali waterfall is not only of such natural beauty and tourist importance. It felt like Prithvinarayan Shah to the countrymen and the people of Okhaldhunga or the people of Okhaldhunga and Ramechhap. Connecting everyone. The name of Pokali of Okhaldhunga is present here now. If there was a speech of a leader, you all would not have come. Pokali Jharna belongs to the Congress as well as the Communists. It also belongs to Hindus. It also belongs to the Buddhists. It is nature that unites us all. We all respect that nature. This documentary serves as a general opening.
But many of you may have been born there to take the real assurance of it and to assimilate the peace it gives. If someone is far away, please visit once. The message of this documentary is the same. Once reach there and feel from the heart. The special guest of the program, Dr. Dhananjay Acharya, Executive Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board, said that the Tourism Board is always with the development and promotion of the natural beauty of Pokali: Until then, we can't sell the geography there. As long as there is no knowledge of the culture and history. Naturally, this place is beautiful in itself. The most interesting thing is that there are people living there with different cultures and different cultures.
At the same time, you are also connected to that place. If we can take it forward and propagate it, we will surely be able to bring to the world all that nature has given us. We are ready to help the Nepal Tourism Board on our behalf to assure this society and the people of Okhaldhunga or all those present here. We are ready to help you in the way you are developing now. We are also with you to spread the word.
Similarly, the director of the documentary production of Pokali Jharna and journalist Mr. Lila Shrestha while expressing the experience of making the documentary says: - In the Okhaldhunga district, I had the opportunity to direct a documentary of the District Development Committee and the Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj. As Narayan Sir has said before, an attempt has been made to prepare an initial step. The words or languages we speak are not commercial.
Please understand this. English could be used as an international language in it to identify Pokali around the world. We could not keep it for various reasons. The Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj has also said that it will produce another short documentary, which will be in English. That will include everything else. I would like to say a little bit about its technical side. Especially from the first festival to the third festival, how many photos and videos we have been able to put. Or have not been able to keep. Something is included.
However, I have volunteered day and night as a campaign to identify Pokali. It has been tried for a long time. We couldn't because of Covid. I have tried to fulfill the responsibility given to me. You will see. Let me inform you that we will put it on YouTube. Especially before, Narayan Sir also said. There are some technical complications in the documentary. Attempts have been made to simplify these complex aspects.
There is a general effort to cover the entire Okhaldhunga district, not just Likhu. Brothers or friends will understand that this effort has been done so far. I have a heartfelt request to you. There is also this slightly ambitious documentary of Pokali Jharna Sewa Samaj. Because this is the first documentary. We will talk later about whether the message it conveys is good or bad. But I think you will gladly accept an attempt. Similarly, the chief guest of the documentary public program, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shree Yadav Prasad Koirala, said that the Government of Nepal has always been with the people of Pokali for physical development and publicity at Pokali Jharna.
It is also a place full of natural beauty. Due to this, Okhaldhunga is also the focal point of unique natural resources. Where we have considered only two out of a hundred destinations as destinations. But this district is also one of the 100 destinations. Okhaldhunga is beautiful in itself. The people there are just as beautiful. For a district to be beautiful, a person must be beautiful. In order for a person to be beautiful, the area must be beautiful. This is the confluence of all things. Why do sages call it Tapobhumi for penance?
Beautiful Tapobhumi is a place worth penance. Agriculture is born in that place. This place is used for penance. Why is Okhaldhunga so beautiful in the same way? Pokali alone isn't beautiful. If the people living there were not beautiful, Pokali wouldn't be beautiful. According to the people, Pokali has gone there and fallen and become beautiful. Therefore, we should only try to identify the place. There are many ways to identify. The documentary that has been made now, we should promote it all over the world. Even before. People come to the place where we attract the world. Now is also the age of publicity. If we preach, we can attract a lot of people. It remains the most important area from a tourist point of view.
As we went, we saw the natural beauty on the way to pokali. and the faint smile of the gurgling water flowing from the waterfall after visiting this place which makes us happy. Because of that, we can become a sage or an ascetic by sitting there. A poet can compose a poem. An artist can make a film.
If a person leaves, he can retire by staying in the same place. If some people go, they can spend a couple of days in the natural beauty. In this situation, we have seen that waterfall. The Government of Nepal has recognized it as an important waterfall. For that, we have to look all over Nepal, so the Ministry of Cultural Tourism and Civil Aviation cannot say that we invest everything in this place. There is also the current epidemic of covid. Nevertheless, the Tourism Board and the Ministry will take steps to develop the region as a tourist destination.
Earlier, Dr. Dhananjay had also said. Now master plan will also come. Do what can be done for that too. Let's do what we can with the money we have now. If not, we will put it in the next budget. The second thing is that we have some budgets right now and some work can be done, but not for a big master plan. If there is a small urgent need and it is owned by the locals, if the committee takes ownership, I will also try to bring some money. For that, which area should you give more priority to? I prioritize three things. There should be an employment-generating program.
Tourists must be attracted because of the natural beauty. The third is that once the structure is built, it should not deteriorate. The local municipality should have taken charge. If you pay attention to those 3 things, we will try to provide the budget according to what we have. With the end of the budget, it is not possible to provide much. If it had happened in the beginning, it would have been possible to have a sufficient budget. I will see if there is a suitable title in the budget. I also requested your committee for this.
I also express my commitment to move forward accordingly. Thirdly, my request is that we are bringing a campaign for publicity. The road to that is a bit awkward. It may not be possible to go to that place for twelve months. I hope you will try for that too. Also now there are things about homestay. In fact, there are three things that do not seem to have the potential to attract tourists to Nepal right now. There is a need for big hotels when tourists come. Now it is not possible to open hotels only in Kathmandu. Now hotels should be opened even in such places. We have just passed the policy. We have already made a procedure to arrange some discounts for hotels that go to places with such natural beauty.
If there are such attractive places where you can enjoy staying for two or four days. There has been talking of herbs before. All these things will come in the masterplan. Since there are different cultural people at the top, there is also talk of building a park based on that diversity. After putting all these things in the master plan, not all at once. The Government of Nepal is ready to work hand in hand with you as it develops gradually. We have a general tendency to say that tourists are people who come to visit from abroad.
By developing domestic tourism and attracting foreigners to visit, it is up to you, our local tourists. Some of us have time to travel abroad and get satisfaction. It is important for all of us Nepalis to identify and develop such new destinations by visiting such tourist destinations instead of spending millions abroad. We should not forget that in the post-Covid period, domestic tourists are the sustainable source of the tourism industry. Now Nepalis are also traveling abroad like foreigners. Nepalis have been spending more in Nepal than foreigners. In the current context, it is important for the concerned stakeholders to focus on how to attract Nepalis to travel abroad.
by creating an environment that attracts tourists throughout the year, rather than just keeping quiet before and after the tourist year Our tourist destinations can be made a major destination for internal and external tourism Today we present material with special activities about Pokli Falls, a major destination for both internal and external tourism.
