EP 7 BTS Pachmarhi to Kanha | Sabarvani Village- Tourism village of Madhya Pradesh
Namaskar friends! As you know we're travelling in MP. We started MP tour from Chanderi Then we visited Sanchi, Bhopal and Pachmarhi. Today we'll go from Pachmarhi to Kanha.
We traveled 12 KM from Pachmarhi we've now come to seek blessings at Bada Mahadev Temple. We've come in our taxi. You don't need a gypsy though this area belongs to the forest department. You can come in your vehicle without permission as well. Lets visit the temple then know its history.
I'll find out and share with you too. It's said Bhasmasura took blessings of Lord Shiva that whoever he would keep his hand on would be destroyed Bhasmasura wanted to rule the world. He ran behind Lord Shiva to destroy him Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini.
During that time, Bhasmasura put his own hand on his head. This way he destroyed himself. This place is famous for this legend. We have almost reached the cave. Lets go in and seek blessings.
Few years back when travelers would come here to seek blessings they would bathe in this kund. Bathing in this kund is prohibited now. Tourists go in from here and exit from the other side.
This is the cave. Drop-by-drop water is dripping in the cave. This is a natural cave. You can seek blessings of Lord Shiva here I read outside that the small Shivlinga inside is naturally formed here.
This Shivlinga occurred naturally here. Its not raining currently. Still, water is dripping. Have a look! You can see on these sides.
If you walk 200 Meters from here You can see the idol of Gupt Mahadev ji. We'll go inside from this side. To visit Chauragarh temple you have to trek 3.4 KM Gupt Mahadev Temple is 200 Meters. We've reached Gupt Mahadev Temple.
This side is a huge idol of Lord Hanuman This is a narrow cave. We have to go in from here. Only 8 people are allowed at a time. They can go in and come back. Again next batch of 8 people can go in. In the morning there are few people but as the day progresses more people come.
We'll have to walk this way. You can't walk straight inside the cave. You'll have to go in sideways. It is known as Gupt Mahadev because when Bhasmasura was following Lord Shiva, he stayed here secretly.
After that I told you how Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini and destroyed Bhasmasura. As we saw inside the temple. Chauragarh temple is a low difficulty trek but you have to climb and descend a lot of stairs. You have to walk 7-8 KM as it is 3.5 KM to and 3.5 KM back. It is 9:40 AM now. We'll reach our hotel in half an hour.
The gadgets are all scattered. I'm yet to pack my bags. This would take half an hour. Then we'll leave for Kanha Tiger Reserve. After an hour's drive from Pachmarhi we have reached Sabarvani village This is the surroundings of the village. 2 days back we came here at night so..
we couldn't see the village properly. I told them I'd spent an hour or two here then proceed to Kanha. Do you know the way? Do we go right or left? This side and there's a bullock cart too. Namaste! How are you? Come! You are welcome at Sabarvani! Hello ji. Namaste! How are you? Wow! This is amazing.
Can guests take a ride in this? I was supposed to come for breakfast. But we reached here at 12PM. I didn't even inform that I would be late. I will have what you prepared for breakfast What is this village's population? 700-800 people stay in this village. The goats are going for grazing.
Goats are now coming back from grazing. This is amazing. Currently, 5 homestays are active in a week 2 more will be active. So, these are all tiles? These are clothes dipped in mud. But even tiles are made from mud.
This is made from mud and cow dung. What type of farming is done here? Mostly, you'll find wheat, chana, moong rice and dhan crops. You grow 3 types of dal? Yes sir, moong, urad and toor pulses. This is a wonderful homestay.
The homestay is decorated beautifully from the outside too. If one sits here in the morning.. when soft breeze is blowing. Or you can sit here and eat your food too.
This floor that I see here.. Is it a mix of cow dung and mud? Its made from cow dung, mud and chaff A layer of cow dung is added on top again That's great. Can I see the room once? This is an international award certificate This is a proof of trees planted by us. A certificate of training done at I.I.H.M. There is one more certificate. Only we got it from Sabarvani We got it as per Green Leaf Rating System Lets see this room.
The room has good ventilation. If you open the windows its so windy. The roof seems to be made of tiles.
Does rainwater leak inside? No sir. As it is made of network of threads Setting is such rainwater won't leak inside This is beautiful! You told me the tariff last time. It is Rs 3,000 with all 3 meals included. Great that you also have western toilet. I am keen to have my food here. I spoke to you that we'd have lunch here Would this place be okay? Yes sir. It will be perfect.
Though it is sunny... but I am not feeling hot. Is the lunch ready or will it take time? It will take 10-15 minutes. 15 minutes is not an issue at all. Lets explore the village till lunch is ready.
Yes sir, we can see another homestay. We can see homestay and what other activities can tourists do here This is good. Sometimes, a guest might enter the fields and damage your crops. So, you've carved a path with stones.
India has many villages where tourists go and stay. A special thing I noticed here is new homestays have been made here to give a village feeling to tourists. It would be a rustic experience.
To give first hand experience of village life Along with a comfortable lodging facility. Experiencing village life with comfort. Activities start from morning in the village Guests can take goats for grazing. They can accompany grazers to the fields They can take part in digging activities and cutting fodder. They can thresh and harvest wheat. Whatever villagers do can be done by guest to get a hands-on experience.
Yes sir, guests enjoy such activities. You make a dish using raw papaya? Yes sir, we make dish from raw papaya Guests also enjoy the dish. Lets do something, lets go to the place where the lunch will be served by you. What crops are growing here? As in what is growing here? This is brinjal growing here. It's ready and we used it in a dish just now This is a fresh piece of brinjal.
This is good. This is Sama rice kheer (pudding) What is this? This is called Mahua Lata. What is Lata? It is made from Jagni, til and Mahua You showed me til (sesame) This is Mahua- a tree as well. So, what is Jagni? Jagni is like til, oil is extracted from it.
It is bigger in size, I don't have it now. No problem. With what can I eat it? You can have it directly.
Alright. What is this? This is known as Gulgule. So, what is Gulgule? It has Mahua and wheat flour added Mahua as you showed this to me. Yes sir Wheat flour is 10% Main ingredient is Mahua. Is it fried? Yes sir, Mahua is fried in oil. I can eat it directly? Yes sir.
Its delicious with a mild sweetness You can't say its completely sweet Nor is is totally sour but midway. Yes its not that sweet. But it is mildly sweet. Mahua Gulgule with Kadi.
What a combination! I have no words! When I took the first bite of Gulgule I liked it but not that much. Kadhi was the game changer in taste. See how Gulgule looks like! Let me break it into chunks. Wow!
Kadhi has mild sourness of curd. Kadhi is well-cooked. As I said Gulgule is mildly sweet. Its a different taste I've never had before. I'm talking about this item. So, when the guests come here Do they get to taste this? Yes sir. So, what do they say about it?
They are pleased to have this unique dish and sometimes having eaten this they eat 1-2 chapatis only for lunch. This is great! I enjoy new dishes and when I get to taste unique dishes like this I feel very happy. It makes my day! It is healthy as well sir.
Should I add Lata in Kadhi and eat? You can have it directly sir. This is quite new, I've never had it before. It is a bit dry. It has til (sesame), Jagni and Mahua. Yes I am getting a taste of Mahua.
Jagni I haven't seen but Til I can taste. Do you have it with tea? We have it with tea or alone as well It doesn't rot for 3-4 days. One can munch on it now and then. It is Spinach and Potato.
It has such a fresh taste You must be doing that, using vegetables straight from the farm You can take brinjal from the farm & cook In cities we get vegetables a week later. Amazing! Is Sama rice growing in your fields? Yes sir, we grow it in our fields. Right. So, you also grow such plants.
It is in high demand these days. Delicious! This kheer is yummy. I'll have this after my meal. The sweetness is quite balanced in kheer. So, lets do something.. Let me enjoy and finish my food.

This deluxe room is for Rs 8000. AC Standard room costs Rs 6500. There is slight difference in size. We have a morning safari tomorrow. The gypsy will be here by 5 AM.
Then we'll go for the safari. Since many years this safari was long due Finally, I have reached Kanha. The property seems quite big. I'll show you in the morning after safari. Bye for now. See you soon. Thanks for you time.
