Leave a comment Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, is a member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World' (LHW) LHW is an exclusive collection of more than 400 luxury hotels in more than 80 countries LHW has many iconic hotels in its portfolio, such as La Mamounia in Morocco and The Ritz in Paris LHW has its own loyalty program, called Leaders Club, which allows guest to earn points and spend them on free nights A floor–to-ceiling glass wall and an adjacent observation deck put the sweeping red rock views on full display Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, overlooks the protected preserve of Coconino National Forest Once check-in is complete, guests are whisked away by an electric vehicle to their room Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, features 40 cubed-shaped pavilions (called ‘atriums’) The atriums were built using atte-charcoal colored metal and floor-to-ceiling, bronze-tinted glass walls I stayed in this atrium during my trip (room category: "Forest Reflections Atrium") The atrium features a bedroom with kingsize bed, a sitting area and a petite kitchen Welcome amenities: a bottle of wine & a plate with cheese & cold cuts The atrium offers an Earth-toned decor, aiming to foster a disconnection from everyday life and a reconnection with nature The ensuite bathroom is equipped with an oversized soaking tub, two wash basins and a walk-in shower Most atriums have a private rooftop deck, featuring lounge seating, a roaring firepit and a day-bed Ambiente is designed by a team of award-winning architects, including Stephen Thompson, an architect based in Scottsdale The atriums appear to be floating amidst the landscape as their bronzed glass structures reflect the surroundings Ambiente aims to be Sedona's leading example of an innovative design that promotes long-term vibrancy within the environment At the center of Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, is an outdoor lagoon-shaped pool (with a built-in Jacuzzi) Right next to the pool is a pavilion housing the hotel’s signature restaurant, Forty1 Forty1 offers a seasonal à la carte menu which is inspired by organic ingredients from the local Verde Valley Also poolside is a custom Airstream that has been transformed into The Drifter, a separate culinary destination serving lunch Directly adjacent to the restaurant is an elevated deck offering fire pits, lounge seating and programming like nightly stargazing Ambiente is owned and operated by a local family: Michael Stevenson and his daughters Jennifer & Colleen After serving in the US Army, Michael, at age 26, moved to Sedona to work at his father’s restaurant In 2016, in an extraordinary turn of events, Michael was able to purchase a beautiful piece of property in Sedona After exploring the landscape of pinion pines and red rocks with his daughters, Michael's dream of Ambiente was born Let's have lunch at Forty1 Restaurant Let's return to the main lobby pavilion to explore the spa One floor below the lobby is Velvet, an intimate spa with three treatment rooms Velvet offers treatments that integrate locally sourced ingredients embodying Sedona's spiritual inspiration & healing One of the treatments room is the Dark Sky Lounge, an interactive sound lounge surrounded by the celestial night sky A sauna room is located right outside the spa area Sedona is one of the best places in the USA to watch the sunset Let's have dinner at Forty1 Restaurant The à la carte breakfast is also served at Forty1 Restaurant Sedona's red sandstone formations form a popular backdrop for many outdoor activities, such as hiking in the wild One of the most popular trails is the hike to Devil's Bridge, a large natural arch in the red Supai sandstone cliffs The hike to Devil's Bridge takes two hours (one way) It can be very crowded at Devil's Bridge itself, with a waiting time of more than one hour for a photo on the bridge
