another chat cheers um so we're doing this week we're going to do 20 must-haves and 10 tips for traveling now these are the videos we used to love watching before we traveled and getting sort of you know tips and advice these are our obviously our views there like yeah not everyone's gonna probably agree with them but we think these things are relevant yeah can help us out definitely so anyway as well as that we are going to celebrate getting a thousand subscribers thank you so much for everyone that actually watches and subscribes um you know we started this YouTube channel literally just to make memories and um yeah and for the kids to watch back when they're older and Freddie especially Freddie he's got no idea he's traveling in Australia so it'll be good for him to look back and say yeah give us some tips we can get some more we like some tips anyway let's get straight into the video on number one must-have is storage every single cupboard we've got under the bed uh we've got under the sofa uh in the back cupboards as well there is some kind of storage whether it's a containers it's um buckets it's whatever you can find uh we've got Systema ones for our food cupboards as well it just keeps everything really nice and organized and especially in a small space like a caravan this just really works so our second must-have is our cruise Master hitch here the do35 um for us not only is you know it's a safety thing everyone knows how they work they rotate the van was ever to you know flip over um it's not meant to take the car with you so that's a bonus um and I find it really easy to put it on the back of the Ute some people say they have troubles with them but I just wind them down and on they go and it's quiet and we've had camper trailers in the past with the normal tow ball receiver and I found it really noisy and having this one it's made it a lot more quiet so that's our number two all right so our third must have for us is second fridge in the car for sure um our fridge inside is always having such a big family is always full so getting drinks anywhere is just a pain so we keep this for Freddy's milk our soft drinks bottles of water beer beer obviously um yeah so definitely if you're um weights allow it definitely have a second fridge on board because I just yeah it's too hard just with the one fridge um especially drinks they're very awkward to pack um so that's what we have a fridge for and I think it's awesome so number four on our list is definitely a decent battery system um ours gets us by we've got 200 ounce of lithium uh 300 watt of solar on the roof and a 200 watt external solar blanket which is fine but next time we're going to put more in um just makes it just makes it so much easier off grid I'm not having to worry about your batteries all the time yes you get your overcast days but if you've got the money put it into your battery system and you won't regret it all right another one here came with the Caravan but we've also added in four of our own they are troop in a van ones and they are bloody excellent we've got a couple of books in both of ours they fit iPads and loads of books in as well which is absolutely amazing it just stops everything from being on the table and clutterage which is not what you want in a small Caravan and also the kids boxes as well for toys because as you can imagine that would just be everywhere otherwise so um yeah those ones are a must-have number six would be kids bedding now we didn't want the kids to have dunas because they're just so bulky they don't need them all year round either and also they just don't make the bed the way that I like that seems so silly but you know what in a caravan you need to be neat and a bit tidy and whatever but we chose these for the kids they are bloody excellent this this one here is from Target Parker also has one from adairs they're pretty much just a fabric sleeping bag and they're quite thin but we also have a fleece blanket for both of them as well just in case they get cold and it has worked a treat all year round whether they have to wear a bit more of a thicker pajama as well during winter but this has really been amazing I love these These are absolutely beautiful and look how nice and neat and tidy that is and queen made that this morning winner [Music] number seven is a washing machine now if we were to ever buy or build another Caravan we would always always choose to have a washing machine in it uh it's so handy yes the only downside is the weight you've got to make sure your Caravans allow for the weight of a washing machine but I'll tell you what they're so handy with children especially and they save us so much money in caravan laundry fees we all know the Caravan parks cost an iron leg anyway and we don't want to give them any more money so um yeah we love having our washing machine right number eight is Fusion locks because we love them that much they're all over our Caravan so in the bathroom here we've got um our Shelf we've got the soap and sanitizer ones here we actually use the pegs as well for our towels and we've got one in the shower as well that holds all of our shower gel and our body wash and stuff like that and our shampoo but yeah we absolutely love them only downside um is they're a little bit pricey but they're an amazing product we've had most of them in here since we started and they do not move at all and we've been on some crazy corrugated roads but yeah they we absolutely love them now number nine on the list is our fire pit um we have found at plenty of places where you have to have if you're having a fire you have to have it off the ground so our little fire pit that we have it is only a cheap one from Kings which they've copied off everyone else but it keeps our fire off the ground at the end of the day you roast your marshmallows who doesn't love that so number nine definitely have a fire pit on you our number 10 must-have if you are like me and you're a little bit of a um scaredy cat in some places you want to feel safe you've got your children in the van um there are some sketchy-ish places or if you're free camping but this is how I solve my problem I got some locks put on the um door they just go across like that and they just hold in place there and you know what they make me feel so much better if I'm free camping or whatever we've got our kids and everything inside um so if you're like me get a lock alrighty so number 11 on our list is our inverter I've already touched on the battery system so it's kind of an extension of that um it's a must-have for us not only because we've got starlink it runs our starlink I love my coffees so my coffee machine is a must I know it's not everyone everyone doesn't need one but we think it's a must our microwave it come in real handy when especially when Freddie was younger I went to heat up his bottles at night I was just so much quicker to plug it in get the bottles warm and you're done um you got to make sure your battery system can handle your inverter which ours can which is good but definitely have an inverter on your list number 12 on our list is gray water tank so we didn't start off with a gray water tank on me left because our van didn't come with one but we soon discovered that the really awesome places in wa you needed to contain your contents so we did have a 45 liter portable gray water tank but if the Rangers do get strict on it which I've heard they can I couldn't not keep the water in that properly so you need a gray water tank if you want to go to the cool places like on the negloo coast we've also missed a few camps because we haven't had a gray water tank and we weren't allowed there so we definitely think a gray water tank is a must teeth must have now van but oh gosh this is a game changer our bathroom door it is so annoying it is frosted all the light comes into it from up in the bathroom vent that does not have a blind on it so in the morning the kids are wide awake at 5am if you don't cover it so I'm yet to find anything that will go on it that is sort of neat and tidy but for now all we use is a blanket we put it over the top of that and you know what kids sleep in which is absolutely amazing but yeah you need to cover that door if you have children so number 14 which we think is a must especially for full-time travel is this thing it's starlink um obviously we need it for our social media and that but if you've got kids and you need internet anywhere um you definitely need starlink it has to be on your list especially for us uh Wi-Fi Nomads as they call us now um we love our Netflix we love you watching YouTube so definitely have starlink on your list number 15. fans I tell you what Sirocco fans are amazing we've got one on each of us at night time as well and the kids all have one on their beds I tell you what especially if you're off grade and you've got no aircon or you can't do air concrete battery system Sirocco fans are absolutely amazing these fans come in super super handy and are really really good number 16 you must have is definitely outlets and plugs now if you're building a caravan and you can put more in put as much as you can in seriously we are so happy that ours came with loads so on each side of the bed we've got power we've got 240 and 12 volt here as well we've got all of this for the kids iPads which is actually amazing we've got um the power outlet here for all of our kitchen appliances and everything like that and on the kids beds as well we've got our 12 volts as well and I'll tell you what we probably don't use it all anyway but it's amazing for when we need to charge all the kids iPads our computers all of our phones and whatever so more the merrier in my opinion number 17 must-have and this is a big must-have for us we've used it pretty much our whole trip at every single stop we've been to is a mat for outside now we invested in the Recycled mats and we absolutely love ours and we love the design but any kind of mat is amazing it's just to keep your feet clean and it's really really good for children as well so yeah we wouldn't be without our mat okay our number 18 is if you are building a caravan and you do get a choice in what material you choose for your sofa we absolutely love ours so instead of a fabric one this is a bit of an upgrade um it's just really easy to clean especially with children and our children um we we just love it and it's really really comfy as well so yeah I'm very very glad I've got one of these and I don't have to clean all day 19 on our list is decent pegs for the ground so we have these are the easy anchor pegs which we bought at the very start and I can't fault them they drill into everything um sand they're not the best in sand obviously but sand pegs are easy just to whack in you can get other ones I think the drilling for sand but we are in the pilber at the moment where the ground is hard as and I have managed to put my awning down because I'm able to drill them into the ground so definitely a decent set of ground pegs that drill in too that's number 19. all right number 20 our last must-have right there um it's the one in the Caravan obviously here but we carry and we bought a spare one um yeah places we've been we wouldn't even be able to stay there for as long as we have without the spare cassette 100 family of five or even a family of three I reckon you need to get another cassette a couple hundred dollars and it saves you in those remote places where you'd have to leave and go and find a done point where you can just stay there relax and not worry about it just Chuck it in the car and put the other one in simple as that Speck asset must have alrighty so let's get on to our top 10 tips and um I'm sorry the phone's just here so we also know you have to excuse us all right number one is research the town before you get there obviously we all do that anyway but really take the time and make sure you plan enough time to be in the town to explore everything you don't want to rush no there's so much to see everywhere yeah and also if you're still in the planning stages of your trip as well um keep up to date with YouTube and always search on Instagram if you see anything cool have a little notes section on your phone just write stuff down so that when you go to that place we still do it yeah oh absolutely cool places that people have been doing and you write them down and yeah he comes in handy yeah research just research number two this goes into number two as well number two is talk to the locals of the Town you're in yeah um this is a good one um even the other day I was in the fishing shop and the guy straight away said because I got the kayak fishing kayak now um told me where to go he goes go up the river a bit jump in it's where the best fishing is yeah haven't caught a fish yet but he said that's where the best fishing is so they know I don't know why you said yet but um they know all the hidden gems around yeah that's their town so that's why even the neighbors in the Caravan Park they've been there a few days before you they might have been somewhere cool that you don't even know about so absolutely talking to everyone is a big one the pub get out of the pub talk to we go like the old guys at the pub they're always knowledgeable so absolutely so yeah locals know more than what you can find online yeah number two talk to locals alrighty number three enjoy your time yeah I'll tell you what sometimes you do you forget that what you're doing is absolutely amazing yeah like seriously some days I do take it for granted I'm being totally honest I'm like you sit down you're like whatever but then you realize oh my God we're traveling Australia we're not working we're living the life really spending time too much time with each other no no that's why I got a fishing kayak I'm gonna go fishing but no but yeah just take it doesn't matter how long your trip is yeah 12 months A month's trip yeah it doesn't matter just enjoy your time yeah slow down because you're going to go back to normal life soon and you'll be like no regret not enjoying your time so sit back relax breathe take it all in and um yeah don't take it for granted that's exactly right okay number four so the way we figure out where we're gonna stay we have a look at hip camp and we also look at Wiki camps as well so we're always comparing where the cheapest place would be obviously where the nicest place will be as well so they're our main two apps um and also do not take the reviews on Wiki camps too seriously and this is unless there's about 100 of them then yeah maybe maybe but sometimes there's the odd review on there and we've been to plenty of places now where we've not listened to the reviews it's been amazing so just go there for yourself and um yeah so the tip there is just compare yeah compare prices you know I don't know if everyone's like this but we got a budget and then we you know so we want to save where we can save where we can yeah one big spend for us is yeah compare your prices all righty number five uh this one's a good one I this is my one um checking over your Caravan um checking your wheel nuts checking all your nuts and bolts um checking your nuts checking your nuts just make sure they're good no but I do this probably every third stop we go to um I check have a look under the van at the suspension I go around with a screwdriver and tighten up all the screws around the door the hatches um the wheel nuts are nearly dude it's quite a bit but nearly every time I pack up I've got the little thing in the back of the car I just run around and quickly check the mail notes on the Caravan and the car just to make sure they're tight um but yeah that's the top tip especially after corrugations and everything yeah it's just good to check like you know our vans still got you know the roller rocker suspension it's not an off-road van we take it off-road so I like to check it make sure it's fine um and yeah maintenance yeah my top top tip is maintenance there you go all right number six this is my one is make your Caravan feel like home and whatever that means to you to me that means uh lots of fake plants around and knickknacks and blankets and cushions and they're annoying she loves them it looks what you're talking about but you get your home on Wheels you're literally living in this space and you want to make it feel like home and to me that feels like home and you know having lots of little things around so um make your space feel like home alrighty tip number seven um this is a big one really understanding your weights um and obviously it's serious like you should understand it for safety yeah it's really good especially before you leave like yeah you don't want to be overweight and it can be confusing um so if you need to contact someone to explain your weights like professionally yeah we got professionally weighed yeah and it's crazy things you can move in advance and how much it changes the weight in the van especially the ball weight like you can open your door and your ball weight will go you know up by two three kilos which is just crazy but actually knowing that um and also just what we brought in the Caravan yeah we had to color Fair bit Yeah like we've probably only got a third of the clothes that we didn't think we had much at the start but you soon learn we don't have a big payload that we can have in our van but understanding it is a big one research understand your weights be safe be safe be safe okay number eight this this big one for me and it took me a while to really really I needed to do worry about a clean Caravan like seriously we are here to travel around Australia we've got three kids that doesn't help us anyway because I clean it and then it just gets destroyed but really just don't worry about it you're literally traveling Australia to get out there and explore this beautiful country and not to sit inside worrying about a clean Caravan I understand the time our van is a mess inside toy toys Freddy's toys the biggest one yeah yes we've just got stuff everywhere it used to really get to me but I've just learned to just say and just you know we're just we're here to travel we're here to explore and that is what we're doing pretty much every single day so don't worry about your dirty characters and number nine I plan your woolies trips so for us we like to see where the next woolies is going to be because obviously it's cheaper than IGA and your smaller um so we like to stock up on obviously our things like nappies and wipes so any any lightweight items bigger items yeah toilet paper is a good one yeah um anything anything that you know will you'll soon when you get on the road you'll soon figure out what is more expensive in little shops like a lot more expensive um so you'll start realizing that if you can go to woolies and get three or four of this of an item it will save you lots of money money in the long term in the long run yeah when you go to igas and all the small little just so much money for things oh it's just uh it's just it's because it's because they're just remote I know I know that's just the price but yeah plan your woolies trips find where they are stock up stock on items you can if you have the if you have the weight available in your cabinet yeah we don't go crazy like we mean like we get two bags of nappies yeah box of wipes extra we don't go you know stocking up yeah all righty and number 10 our last tip is to don't worry about having the best of the best setup and just get out there and do it this is by far the best tip seriously if you if forget everything we've said this whole video just remember this one just yeah just just get out you don't need the best of the best no um like yes we we have a brand new Ute and a brand new Caravan but it's you know it's not the best of the best we don't have an off-road van um so but we still get out there we still go everywhere that we want to go nothing there's going to be nowhere that's going to stop us going so to speak so if you only have a rooftop tent or a camper trailer or it just doesn't matter it doesn't matter the main thing is to get out there and see this beautiful country and um just enjoy your life like get out there and enjoy it who wants to work the nine to five forever you know you want to make memories of your family and you know so if you're wondering it's totally worth it if you're wondering if you're wondering totally worth it yeah don't worry so much so that we're doing another lap that's exactly right we're not stopping so um yeah so number 10 is definitely just forget everything we've said this whole video just get out there and don't worry about having the best just get out there and explore the country absolutely
