what is going on down there I guess we're about to find out in The Money Pit area at a depth of approximately 80 feet just water yeah a mysterious obstruction is preventing the massive Hammer grab tool from removing spoils from the 10 foot wide tf-1 shaft where does hell yeah Marty said that Michelle could drop it and then there so okay let's let him drop it three times and have him keep monitoring it yep every three were monitored [Music] foreign oh look at that Rock not Billy yeah look rock with a drill hole in it look I'll get out so you can lift it out yeah he's got something check this out look at that that's beautiful it's fantastic it's almost certainly the anomaly that's probably the D2 borehole don't you think yeah The Mystery of the obstruction in the tf1 shaft has been solved the team is Unearthed a large Boulder which they apparently drilled through earlier this year in the six-inch borehole known as D2 a borehole where they discovered evidence of gold at a depth of some 90 feet it's getting pretty good Scoops though yeah looks on our side a lot of wood coming out there it is that eight incher at least [Music] that was a Big Timber I was hoping there would be a lot of wood coming up and there indeed is a lot of wood coming up from the hammer grab some looks ancient some looks more modern yeah that's an interesting piece The Perennial problem on Oak Island is that is it old enough we're looking for stuff that's substantially predates the search that's the kind of old I want to see oh is this a shoe look at this it's actually got a boot over there a boot found at a depth of more than 80 feet deep in the tf-1 shaft I thought it was an old shoe for a minute here I'll go grab it I'll go grab it how did it end up that far below ground could it have been left by a previous Treasure Hunter on Oak Island or did it belong to someone who came here much much earlier as requested thank you well from the color I was hoping it was leather but that's that's more of your classical rubber boot does it have a size or brand on the inside I'm gonna try and get some of the dirt out of it gonna sneak in here oh yeah um our can is at 98 and a half yep we do have an eight foot plug right now Jared says he can see a bunch of wood in there so we're about 90 and a half to dig we'll work we're gonna keep digging we're gonna get this can down tonight and then probably start giving them okay yeah I think we have early Returns on this rubber boot boys what is it so up here it says Kaufman they were a Canadian Rubber Company making these type of boots in 1908 1909 this might be the pit that FDR was digging in well that'd be pretty cool they thought they were chasing the money but at the time maybe they were in 1909 a 27 year old lawyer and 32nd degree Freemason named Franklin Delano Roosevelt helmed Finance the old gold Salvage and Wrecking Company which conducted a large-scale excavation of what they believed to be the original Money Pit although the future U.S president was unsuccessful in reaching the fabled treasure before his company's efforts were drowned by flooding from the legendary booby trap some reports suggest they did recover evidence of gold shavings while drilling at the bottom of their shaft did in fact belonged to one of Franklin Roosevelt's team members could that mean that Rick Marty Craig and their team are on course to make a breakthrough Discovery in the original Money Pit we were certainly hoping that this was an older structure there is connective tissue the boot to Franklin Roosevelt's work it's a clue it's information it's a reason to keep going and to stay vigilant and hopeful we brought up a piece of gold in D2 yeah but the difference is we can get down nothing's going to stop that look at that oh there you go yeah that's tons of wood isn't it unbelievable hopefully this has been changed from some of this more modern yeah well that's the tunnel we're looking for with tons of Timbers who knows exactly what's in it unfortunately as the sun is beginning to set the team from Irving equipment limited and rock equipment must now wait for morning before they can continue unearthing spoils and hopefully something of incredible value David is a gentleman where's the gold just wanted to give you guys an update we are finishing up for the night the can is at a 101 feet and the excavation is at 92 and a half feet okay all right well we're working on a new Theory actually promoted by Dr Kroll over here correct why don't you why don't you tell them real quick all right this thing here which was a little disappointing Laird and I found a name along the top Rim it's Kaufman that company was a Canadian Rubber Company making boots around 1908 1909 and so this this could be FDR's boot part of the expedition why that's good is we know they were working alongside what they believed to be the money pet that could account for the new and old wood we're seeing yeah I think we just rolled the clock back 112 years and we're now on the site of what they were exploring in 1909 there's only one flaw in that is they didn't find it so it was no good to go into the same place they didn't get deep enough right right and we found a piece of gold here they didn't and I got 60 more feet of Casey when Doug and Laird date the boot to 1908 1909 sort of changes in importance to me now we want to proceed because it ties with Doug's Awakening to the possibility that we're digging in the shaft that Roosevelt dug in and that shaft was near the original Money Pit so hope sort of rises again a little bit we might find some things deeper okay so we will declare victory for today we're not giving up and you know with that rationale I mean it makes sense right but the proof is down that hole and it we're not going to give up until we figure out what that hole has to tell us over in The Money Pit area we got chance members of the Oak Island team are monitoring the excavation of the b4c shaft hopefully we start seeing good soon hopefully it gets a tunnel too with treasure chamber or an offset ball I am sorry located just five feet north of borehole C1 b4c will soon reach the approximate 90 foot depth in the so-called C1 cluster where earlier this year the team not only recovered evidence of potentially 15th century wooden tunnels but also detected High trace evidence of both silver and gold this has prompted them to speculate that they have either located the general area of the original Money Pit or perhaps a tunnel that may lead to an offset treasure chamber even though this is the final can we're not going to give up we know that there is a tunnel in the 90-foot Horizon well a tunnel means we're close to finding the original Money Pit we got to be good oh yes yeah we should be enabled soon every time we dig you just wait and see that next scoop that next grab hoping that it's it fact that there's gold in the water means there was gold introduced into The Money Pit here we go see what we go ah just bits of wood everywhere look at that that's a big old iron fastener raw iron hammered round that's what we're looking for yeah how old do you think it is I think we're in the 1700s or older it's so crude okay so so pre-money pit Discovery yeah oh that's sweet Gary lo and behold there is a what we deem to be a hand rot Spike and so we have an opportunity with this Spike to do some types of analysis on it every little clue means something oh it was a big spike I saw yeah this is old mate that's an oldie for sure it's mushroomed in at the top there unforged raw iron nice and heavy a nice bit of chunky iron looks like to advance in the can a little bit more and more water no there's nothing in that one I mean there's no wood no no structure it is a startling turn of events for the Oak Island team after recovering incredible evidence of a potentially ancient wooden tunnel Bedrock has just been encountered at a depth of approximately 130 feet in the b4c shaft so long day appreciate all the hard work but we're at bedrock bottom line is I think we're pretty close to being done although the team is now out of time to conduct any more excavations in The Money Pit area this year the fact remains that all five of the massive steel shafts they dug over the previous months offered evidence that the legendary treasure people have sought for more than two centuries is still buried somewhere below the question is what will it take for Rick Marty Craig and the team to finally recover it I think we have all now come to understanding that The Money Pit is incredibly complex what it tells me is we need to find new technologies in the application of those Technologies to our situation that has been key to moving the search forward so there's reason to be hopeful we're disappointed in the results in The Money Pit but scientists say there are big quantities of gold down there and big quantities of silver dollar and there's plenty of evidence that it's true so we need to do more searching look I think every hole teaches us something right and we we have definite elevations for that tunnel we do have a significant artifact that can be tested we have the quality candidates for c14 sure and we're approaching the depth at which we call the hole Yeah that's where we're at later that day Carmen welcome back once again it's much appreciated Marty lagina along with his business partner Craig tester and Gary trayton meet in the research center with blacksmithing expert Carmen Legg to get his analysis of the iron Spike recently discovered more than 100 feet deep in the b4c shaft this came out of money pit spoils when we was digging oh let's have a look this is a typical size and structure of a rock drill a rock drill yeah we found a rock drill used for what Carmen for uh drilling rocks or drilling holes okay so it used in the digging process yes come to a big boulder you need to break it up and also these are the type of drills that would have been sharpened on the sharpening sways that would be exactly what would be sharpened on that well those swages were old so is this old it is very old yeah same time period as a Swedish wow whoever made this did it a long time ago two years ago while investigating lot 21. and this is even bigger which was once owned by Freemason Daniel McGinnis one of the men who originally discovered The Money Pit in 1795. Rick lagina Gary and Dan Henske discovered two heavy iron swages or Rock drill sharpening tools which Carmen believed could date back to the mid 15th century is it possible that this rock drill found in the b4c shaft could offer more evidence that the team was within Striking Distance of the fabled treasure after all that's absolutely fantastic because that was brought up by the ammograph this is very interesting the knowledge you know those Rock drills down there you can sort of surmise what they were creating down there were they creating caverns and caves and so on where they expanding it for some reason with these date service has got to be an artifact from the original Money Pit Construction this rock drill could go back to Medieval Times so when you let your mind wander it could have been used to Chisel out a chamber if that's the case maybe we're looking in the right spot and this speaks to me it says Medieval baby we're coming to the end of the season so we're out of time but are we eventually going to investigate it yes we can't walk away from that Discovery without looking more closely I mean this really is this is old in the piece of history in Iran from The Money Pit which makes it even more special Carmen thanks for explaining things to us once again um Gary go find some more stuff I can do that thanks Carmen very good see you see ya later that afternoon with the discoveries that the team has made in recent years across the island from the stone paved area in the middle of the swamp which could date to 1200 A.D

and the 500-year or older Stone Road in the swamps Southeastern corner along with the discoveries on Lots 4 8 and 15. could the team finally be zeroing in on just who was behind the Oak Island mystery if so then what is it that was so ingeniously hidden Deep In The Money Pit for me there's been a absolute pleasure and a my oh everyone a sincere thank you for continuing to stay involved in what I have always thought since we were little kids this is a wonderful story a wonderful mystery and it has only gotten better because of all of you and now it's inspirational that's real treasure and I'm grateful for the experience and I thank you all for and he makes me follow that let me come on no look here's I would just say we didn't win this year but we can no longer lose it's not possible to lose anymore because there's gold on Oak Island there's gold in The Money Pit we ain't gonna give up it's down there we're gonna find it yeah we got a good thing going and we need to think about it and Advance the ball next year here here yep yes shall we cheers when they were just boys Rick and Marty lagina dreamed about a legendary treasure buried deep in The Money Pit on Oak Island as grown men the fact that so many capable Searchers had tried for more than two centuries to find it inspired the brothers to take a chance themselves see ya till next year Charles and Billy and now after more than a decade of tireless work with the help of their dedicated team keep the faith guys we will they have not only proven that the Oak Island mystery is more profound than anyone ever thought possible but are closer than anyone who came before them to finally recovering the treasure honestly I feel better about this whole thing than I ever have there's no way to say we're on a wild goose chase because we can prove for sure but there's gold down there now the hunt for information is every bit as important and it will ultimately hopefully yield the results it will find what we seek Dr Lee Spence Tony thank you for coming what we're about to undertake is important Rick lagina along with his nephew Alex and members of the team have gathered in the war room to plan a highly anticipated dive operation with Tony Sampson and renowned underwater archaeologist Dr Lee Spence we do have some data provided by CSR Geo service Dr Spence you have had an opportunity to look at some of that data very interesting with more than 50 years of experience as a treasure hunter and underwater Explorer Dr Spence has located more than 100 shipwrecks and discovered more than 50 million dollars in artifacts and treasure dating back to as early as the 15th century what we ask of Dr Spence is to look at that CSR data that mag data and see if you can suggest to us what these targets might be and whether or not you saw anything worth Tony diving on the so Steve if you could bring that data up sure so there are the anomalies supplied to us from CSR the reason for the dive obviously is to try to explain those two mystery targets up there yep exactly and that's the Frog Island show one as you can see there's a number of targets around the island but those are probably the two most interesting they should be we're heading towards the Frog Island show mate one week ago Rick Marty and Craig commissioned representatives from CSR Geo surveys limited to conduct a magnetometer survey across the northern Waters surrounding Oak Island oh stat ahead that's a hit yeah incredibly the scans identified a number of compelling anomalies including one adjacent to lot 5 and also a massive object near frog Island to the east of Oak Island one that could potentially be the wreck of a large sailing vessel this area up here if I'd done this maggot and I saw these targets I would think okay looks like we have one or two shipwrecks right here that's great well it's exciting here's a man who really knows what he's talking about Dr Spence thinks that the anomaly near frog island is indeed a shipwreck for our purposes it could be a shipwreck that helps us solve our mystery here this looks like a shipwreck to me that's the one off of lot five yes now this is a very shallow water you can have shipwrecks in extremely shallow water but you all have all of this geology here and so there are lots of things that it could be although Nova Scotia law restricts treasure hunting in open Waters it is the team's hope that if they can find evidence of a wreck they can acquire a special permit to investigate it more thoroughly so what's what's your approach then looking at the Frog Island show one I would take their handheld mag out and if you've got a six foot linear feature down there you know then the heart starts to beat a little bit because it might be a cannon or an anchor or something well I think all that can be said at this point is you know go find a shipwreck okay yes we will indeed so we're about on the spot now guys Alex lagina and his cousin David fernetti joined diver Tony Sampson and his team along with underwater archaeologist Dr Lee Spence to investigate the waters between Oak Island and neighboring frog Island what do we got for depth Ryan 19 feet 19. sweet great okay let's get up and we'll unsplash this one we're gonna drop the anchor Jamie Tony and doctor's bets will be conducting a dive in an effort to collect more data regarding the metallic anomalies that were detected during the recent magnetometry survey the Target today is a cluster of magnetometer hits that could be a shipwreck on frog Island Shoal however due to environmental restrictions they will only be able to perform a non-invasive investigation of the ocean floor using cameras and handheld scanning devices away we go if evidence of man-made objects or human activity is found the team can apply for a permit to dig out as well as remove objects from the area hopefully they get a hit soon because the ocean floor is covered with vegetation is utilizing an aquascan dx200 handheld magnetometer which emits magnetic pulses capable of detecting iron targets buried up to 23 feet below the ocean floor [Music] [Music] five minutes surface to diver we hear you over at a depth of some 20 feet in the waters between Oak Island and nearby frog Island diver Tony Sampson and underwater archaeologist Dr Lee Spence have just confirmed that some kind of a large metallic object is buried beneath a thick vegetation on the ocean floor copy you Tony that's great news do you see anything sticking out from the bottom anything prominent over copy fingers crossed they see something really we need permission to move the silt and see what they're actually finding to get a permit we need to lay eyes on something underwater that comes from a shipwreck a magnetometer hit is not going to be enough we need Tony or Lee to see something a cannon a coin Timbers from a ship something on the bottom because the silt and vegetation is preventing Tony and Dr Spence from seeing the metal object or objects they have just detected they are now expanding their search area in order to look for any visible debris that could help determine just what they have found foreign we hear you go ahead over here [Music] another magnetometer hit [Music] that Tony and Dr Spence have found more evidence of human activity and possibly the remains of a shipwreck if so could it be connected to the recent ship-related discoveries that the team has made in The Money Pit copy that nothing visible over copy that gets in the silt nothing on the rocks copy you we'll see you on the boat soon over well there were actually two areas out on that show where we did find a reading that was buried that could be part of a ship but so much of the bottom there were large rocks and a lot of kelp growing and it could have easily hidden a wreckage that's there very interesting die yep I'm absolutely convinced that there's a ship right there hey hey hi guys how you doing how did it look well yo there was a reef line there we could see it there was structure good but everything solid had kelp on it and so that kelp could have been hiding part of a shipwreck like a fluke of an acre sticking up right so so you think maybe further investigation oh I definitely think that no question about it and I would not write off right okay well that's that's good I mean I would love it but whatever we're getting is below the silver yeah they're never going to issue us a permit because it's going to be buried and we can't see it right right all of the evidence and even the expert is saying there's a shipwreck here but none of it is enough to get an excavation permit Our Only Hope really would be to come back and hope that just the natural action of the tide and maybe some storms uncover some evidence of a shipwreck at which point we could get an image of it and then apply for an excavation permit it's great and this is our most promising spot and if you go down there and you think that it warrants further investigation I think that's good should we continue with the Shipwreck investigation 100 so it continued dive program is warranted late winter early spring because that's when the water Clarity is best well I think yeah we'll probably have to keep Lee here for another year I think okay let's pull anchor and get out of here guys metal detection expert Gary Drayton and treasure hunter Michael John arrive on Lot 8 located on the western Drumlin of Oak Island once you find a large grouping of potentially good fines like this it's like what are they doing here so this is like a Central Area yeah that's right exactly yeah in addition to The Money Pit and the swamp Lade has now become a potentially critical zone of interest for the team due to a number of recent discoveries and developments these include a large metallic anomaly detected by ground penetrating radar some 20 feet deep just a big layer of rocks right across this whole area this looks clearly man-made the mysterious stone-paved feature and large Boulder proving to represent evidence of previous human activity and a semi-precious Garnet gemstone a gemstone that 32nd degree Freemason Scott Clark believes could be connected to the Knights Templar and one of the most sought after missing holy relics in human history the Ark of the Covenant okay mate you ready yep let's get stuck in now while Rick Marty and Craig await a government permit to conduct a large-scale excavation to determine just what the mysterious buried anomaly could be Gary and Michael are hoping to find any clues to help verify if Scott Clark's incredible Theory could be true it might this is the first Target let's see what this baby sounds like oh look that sounds fantastic mate that's what I liked here mate that is the sound of History being uncovered in a few minutes alrighty foreign [Music] that looks like an old oval chain link yeah the old chain links were always oval the newer chain links around and if you notice the irregularity of it yeah it's a very crude chain link definitely not factory made oh no whenever you need a chain that means you've been all in something and you never know maybe there was a chain like around the chest or an old box could Gary Drayton be correct that this piece of chain may have once been used to transport a large chest if so who left it on lot 8. and could it be connected to the large metallic anomaly that the team hopes to excavate as soon as they can obtain a permit this is fantastic what was the chain doing out in the middle of nowhere because this is that and the Boon is even for o'connelly yeah all right mate put that flag back in let's keep rolling mate a good sign that we're in an area where people were there's got to be other stuff in the area but no doubt the next flag is down here mate let's see what this one sounds like bit jumpy I suspect this is iron okay well definitely a biggish Target nice and deep yeah just there yeah there we go here we go another excellent sign mate yeah a big old hot shoe just by looking at it like that what I can tell you mate is kind of out of place just here out in the middle of nowhere mate and I don't believe this was Farmland I don't think it's right I don't know and I'm happy that we've found an option in this area me too they were definitely all in something here because we got the options we got the oval chain that's that's the mystery isn't it yep a large auction discovered near a piece of chain where the team is also detected a large metal anomaly buried some 20 feet underground wow this Oak shoe was very deep and it's in great condition whoever was all in in this area was all in something big because this option was on a big beast of burden over the past two years the Oak Island 10 has discovered numerous ancient stone pathways along with Ox shoes and other evidence suggesting large operations to haul cargo onto and across the island previously the most compelling of these was found between the triangle-shaped swamp and The Money Pit have Gary and Michael now found more evidence of a similar operation on lot 8. and if so could it possibly support Scott Clark's theory that the Knights Templar hit Priceless religious artifacts on Oak Island centuries ago what are those artifacts doing our ear in the middle of nowhere we're right in the middle of the island I'm telling you mate we are on to something here all sense leads to activity something happened you know exactly in this area someone spent a lot of time out here now whether they were passing through from one Shore to the other Shore and the artifacts tell the story of the site yeah this might be the missing link telling us that we're on a treasure in this area yeah okay mate let's keep rolling mate we just found something at The Money Pit and the wash table looks like a piece of parchment okay in the interpretive Center Rick lagina along with crank tester and Laird Niven our meeting with imaging experts John Genki and David Sampson to have the possible parchment just found in the tf-1 spoils analyzed in the skyscan 1273 device man we're standing okay so the next step once we have all of those different slices collected is that we're going to reconstruct the original sample on the image itself what you're seeing is these very straight lines on the top and the bottom so that's the actual pieces of paper that we've inserted in order to hold the parchment in place the parchment's going down the center line I would expect to see some sort of fiber isn't that fibers you're seeing sticking out the sides though or not yeah I'm starting to see that same thing Craig especially up top there yeah right there yep yeah good news is iron in particular when it's hit with x-rays it tends to Glow it's a process called fluorescence so if we see a lot of those Rays coming out from it it could be indicative of iron so as we're looking at that Center Line where we'd expect the parchment you can see those very very bright spots that could actually be some of the writing some of the older inks were made of gall and so that is a metal it's an iron-based ink iron galling also known as Oak garlic is composed of iron salts and tannic acids from vegetable sources and was developed in Europe during the 5th Century A.D

ever since the discovery of parchment Deep In The Money Pit pack in 1897. many researchers have speculated that the treasure lying deep in the booby trap money pit is composed of not just Gold Silver and jewels but also Priceless documents even if the ink itself is no longer readable that iron should be left behind and should be visible is it possible that the team has found more evidence that this Theory could be true if so what sort of documents would someone want to hide by such ingenious means if we had actual proof that there were a book a parchment an old Tome that depth in The Money Pit it's all exciting so at this point in time can you make a determination whether it's parchment or something completely else what we can say at this point is that we tend to see some lines which should be indicative of say a type of parchment generally when we've looked though at more modern fibers that structure becomes very apparent very quickly here we're seeing more of a rudimentary style to it the fibers seem to be a little bit larger yes it likely wasn't placed there recently that it has some historical context to it so we are likely looking at something a little bit older so you know my suggestion would be that we set up a little bit longer scan get a little bit higher resolution on this and then we get back together maybe in the war room I think that's a proper plan right let's do the high risk scan and see what happens it sounds good yep all right we'll get that started thank you thank you both the following morning so guys today we have the gentleman from Brooker John and David Marty Brothers Rick and Marty lagina and members of their team are meeting in the war room with imaging experts David Sampson and John Genki regarding the possible parchment discovered one day ago in the spoils from the tf-1 shaft yesterday we gave them the parchment that Jack found and we got incomplete information yesterday so these gentlemen were kind enough to to rerun the sample at a higher res and I believe this is the information they're going to present to us today yeah so we looked at this piece of what we're calling parchment and what we see is that there's some some striations in it so if you look you know carefully you can see that there's directionality now when we think about indelible types of material that people would write on in the past one thing you would generally find in that is not so much of this specific striation now that being said one nice thing about this technology though is that we can actually look deeper so uh Dave maybe if you could bring up a cross section sure as you see those little streaks coming off that tends to come from materials like iron so iron glows when you hit it with x-rays and that's what we're seeing here just a little artifact from that glow I saw those shiny bits up at the table are you saying those are iron well we can refer to it as it's high density likely iron yeah you also mentioned that older ink has a high iron content yeah yep wouldn't expect to see that as a big chunk of iron though I'd rather I'd more likely see that as some sort of streaking across the material yeah this one is a little bit different colored [Music] from this what we can see now is relative densities and as we look at that inner part that tends to indicate that we're looking more out of paper probably a cellulose type product not necessarily an animal skin right right what what about the green and the blue yeah very good question yeah so blue now that's your little chunks of the iron oh the green now what are we looking at there well that's when we started thinking we brought in a little bit of context from what could be present at the site and one thought was that this could be a coded paper product something very traditionally found maybe somewhere around here might be something coated with wax it held up so it'll hold up it's resistant to moisture in fact it's so resistant to moisture it's typically used for uh for say wrapping um explosives is that what you think it is yeah well that definitely matches the historical record yeah yes in the fall of 1909 upon reaching a depth of nearly 100 feet in The Money Pit workers of Franklin Roosevelt's old gold salvage company exploded dynamite in the shack hoping to not only clear the debris from the 1861 collapse but also as an attempt to seal off the flow of seawater from the flood tunnel the effort failed on both counts and the company would close down operations at the end of the year could the team have now determined why they discovered only small fragments of gold earlier this year during their core drilling program and if so since they have also detected high concentrations of both silver and gold where they are currently digging ec1 could that mean they are on course to locate the vast cache of treasure that people have been trying to find since 1795. if Dynamite was dropped somewhere right near a treasure you might tend to find small bits of metal with gold on them we did so that's good that's good stuff makes us keep looking what's important is that we were able to discern what it was it's about what the technology can tell us how we can use that information to perhaps provide us with greater understanding of what happened out on this quite mysterious place all right very very very great presentation and we're impressed so let's go look at some more stuff as soon as you're able thank you thank you thank you let's go Rick lagina and members of the team arrive at the renowned military museum in Lisbon Portugal nice to meet you all of you here Korean mall has arranged for them to meet with sergeants Ricardo Lopez and Carlos Mongrel both of whom are experts in Portuguese military history so the reason why we're here is we have some artifacts that we have found on the island and we were hoping that you can affirm that the stone shot which we have is exact match to what you may have here in the museum okay no problem well we've actually brought along replicas of the stone shot we found on Oak Island okay all right there's one yes a 3.9 centimeters past two years the team has found two small cannonballs or stone shots one of which was recovered from Deep In The Money Pit area but even more compelling was the recent analysis conducted by geology Professor Dr Robert rayside who believed the stone that they were composed of may have originated in Portugal's Azores Islands [Music] could we expect our Stone shot to be made in the Azores or here on the mainland yes definitely wow they could use very small calibers for these type of cannons those type of weapons were mainly used on ships oh wow is that a general rule that smaller caliber on ships on ships or on fortresses but modern ships okay yeah yes yes yes they were lighter to be used on ships and also they could be used on the deck what they call a swivel gun yes exactly swivel gun if we could see a cannon that would shoot that stone shot such as that we would love to see it yeah we have it here so if you could come with me okay love to we puzzle now over why was that stone shot found down in The Money Pit on the ship are they an artifact that was absolutely connected to Oak Island and perhaps here to this land so this right here yes this is 15th 16th century with a four centimeter caliber and fire is a uh half a Portuguese pound iron ball we've got one of the replicas here um we can try it it's it's pretty corroded here so oh look at that pretty close so I would say that's a match to this but that pretty much confirms that that is a known caliber of shot from the 14 1500s but there's a possibility that if you were doing something say on our Island you needed to protect what you were doing to keep people away remove this gun from the ship mounted in some Fashion on the island if they were building some tongue of semi-permanent or permanent structure they could take this gun out of the ship and place it on top of Palisade for example that's big that's huge good could the team have just found an explanation for how one of the potentially Portuguese Stone shots was found Deep In The Money Pit area there's quite a bit of corrosion in there if so could it be related to the evidence of wooden tunnels discovered earlier this year which could date to as early as 1488 and also the high concentrations of silver and gold I think we have a new strong possibility that we really have to give consideration to and I'm very very hopeful but it couldn't happen without people like yourselves and we're most appreciative later that afternoon nearly 20 miles west of Lisbon welcome to sintra and you are in the heart of these very romantic Town Rick lagina and his team arrive at an early 20th century Palace known as kinta de regalera here Korean Maul and Templar historian Zhao biandero have arranged to show them one final structure that they believe may be directly connected to the Oak Island mystery the Templar knights came to here and they managed the land for a long time everything you see was built in the last century to create this magical Masonic Wonderland but it's based on much older ideas in 11 47 during the Crusades following his conquest of Lisbon the first king of Portugal Alfonso Enriquez also captured the town of sintra in 1154 the town and its administrative duties were transferred to the Knights Templar who utilized it as a stronghold for centuries to come however in 1904 a wealthy Freemason named Antonio augusto de Carvalho Montero purchase this property and established it as kinta de regalera a vast palatial estate where he is believed to have hosted secret Masonic and Templar rituals and there's indeed something here that will remind you very much of Oak Island the initiation well that is the Masterpiece here let's go I'd love to the beauty is inside that's remarkable wow it's deep what is this Dimension the diameter 13 feet which is awful from failure that chamber at the bottom I mean it's very Masonic at its core what I can't help compare it to is the design of The Money Pit the initiation well has nine platforms the ninth floor sounds like something that we have possibly on Oak Island yeah The Money Pit yep okay let's go down smooth and easy because watch your steps when you look at the well there are nine levels we know there were nine levels in the original description of The Money Pit we know that the original Money Pit was 13 feet in diameter it's curious if that is not a coincidence and it seems as though it is not and where was that information derived and why was it important to replicate it what does it mean I don't know it is rather spectacular isn't it yeah remember the restalls thought there was a spiral staircase Around The Money Pit in 1963 while conducting a lateral drilling operation Deep In The Money Pit Oak Island Treasure Hunters Robert rustall senior and Bobby restall Jr reportedly drilled through a series of mysterious voids at oddly descending angles beginning more than 100 feet underground this discovery LED them to the astonishing conclusion that a spiral tunnel encircled The Money Pit potentially leading to the fabled treasure Vault we're almost there guys is it possible that the initiation well with its nine levels 13-foot diameter and which was constructed nearly six decades before the restall's discovery is in fact a replica of the Oak Island money pit [Music] oh man so you would perfectly see that oak tree from here right branch of an oak tree over the well that's exactly what the money pit story is about we now start the path in the tunnels the whole point of the initiation well is to create a representation of the influence of Templars possibly the influence of Masonic beliefs and ideals and here we are back into the lake back in the light initiation done there may be some correlation between the initiation well and The Money Pit on Oak Island we have to take the information back and see what it tells us what we've seen here is a a vision that was not inspired but instructed by Knowledge from the past which is being carried forward from the Knights Templar into the order of Christ into the Masonic thought leading all the way up to this right it shows that the ideas have persisted throughout time even to today and that means that they must have been worth preserving I truly believe in what we have learned in Portugal it only enhances my belief that Oak Island is part of this Legacy I think we continue to persevere in that with that hope and for that we we thank you Avanti simpriament Rick lagina his nephews Peter and Alex and Oak Island historian Doug Kroll Korean yeah good morning welcome to Portugal thank you have traveled some 2 800 miles east to the city of povo de la nioso Portugal can I introduce you to joao he's a historian and he's an expert in the Knights Templar Portuguese you're welcome to Portugal upon the invitation of researcher Korean Maul Rick and the team are here to investigate potential clues that Corian believes could tie the 14th century sect of the Knights Templar known as the Knights of Christ to a number of discoveries that have been made over the last two years on Oak Island and what you're believed to be of Portuguese origin these finds include the Stone Road or Wharf uncovered in the triangle-shaped swamp a fragment of a ship's Cannon and two Stone cannonballs one of which was found Deep In The Money Pit area to begin their investigation they have arrived at the historic church of fontarcata so it is Corian correct he tells me that this is the first land Granite to the Knights Templar in Portugal yes it is documented that in 1126 the mother of our first king lady treze donated to the Templars font darkada probably one of the oldest church that we have in Portugal in 1126 during the Crusades members of the military order of monks known as the Knights Templar arrived in Portugal at the invitation of King of fonso the first in exchange for their service in battle against Islamic Moors across the Iberian Peninsula the king granted the order both land and great wealth that would help expand their influence across Europe and the holy land where they are believed to have later obtained Priceless religious Treasures Treasures that some researchers suggest are buried today on Oak Island we might be looking at what I think is you know the oldest Templar commandery or place in in Portugal maybe in Europe well what that tells me then is whatever the earliest understandings and foundations of who the Templars were might reside within the church correctly we will not find written things we will find symbolism in some details of the church that was what they did at the time cool let's go to church let's go to church thank you guys oh wow why don't we split forces Peter Alex one of the three of us look for symbols on this side and we can look for symbols on that side okay okay let's see what we can find every one of them has a symbol it's just unbelievable how many symbols there are in a wall here so many different ones yeah if we are really tracking the Templars or Masonic connections to Oak Island we need to look at the Mason's marks and see if they actually mean something it may only take one just one clue one strange symbol that says here here is what you seek hey guys generational you might be interested in this one over here oh yeah yeah oh that's interesting I can see it from here so this symbol is definitely on the 90-foot stone actually I have a copy of that picture right here right there yeah yeah look at this right there it's perfect yep a symbol found on the walls of a 12th century Templar Church matching one from the mysterious inscription that was reportedly carved on the legendary 90-foot Stone and I was curious it's even got the same slant I know I know this is the only one of these Baker's marks we've seen this is unique right here did the person who carved the 90-foot stone have a connection to the Knights Templar and Portugal we know that that type of symbology has the potential to tell us many things so the first thing to do is do a comprehensive study of the Mason's marks but one of the things about the 90-foot stone we've always tried to evaluate is is there a clue to who wrote it in the symbols that were used to formulate the cipher yeah now we have another option to consider Maker's Marks but what did that Mark mean to the person who carved it right we're not certain of the characters on The 90-foot Stone but as we understand it that symbol is on that stone we should check outside do you think there's something you should see here yeah love to you have to take that information and think to yourself okay is this part of a Mason's market and does that make it imperative that we understand what these makes and marks possibly are telling us I'm curious your take on this your interpretation job do you feel that the ho Stone could be Portuguese in origin it's very interesting it could be definitely European and if we're saying that the Portuguese were in Oak Island it would be something made by them seeing the O symbol and the ho Stone represented on the wall of the church that means something that represented something it's not decorative and I think there is a direct connection to Oak Island so there's some information there I just don't know what it is at this point I believe if I'm not mistaken we have the identical symbol over the original entrance to the castle of Tomar where the Knights Templar and lately the order of Christ had their headquarters yes Tomar is from the 1160 the capital of the temple knights in Portugal so if we're looking for evidence that the Templars were connected to Oak Island I'll repeat it through symbolism or anything else that's where we need to go and that's significant because the Portuguese age of Discovery was completely fueled and driven by the people in Tomar yes so any Journey that would have landed on Oak Island in the 16th century would have departed from from tomorrow to me it's pretty simple right we also must take a voyage a very short one we need to go to Tamar and figure out how it might affect our search yep we do so off we go some 2 800 miles to the east in the town square of tumor Portugal and welcome to the Temple City of tomorrow so this is a town center this is the church of Saint John the Baptist who was the patron saint of the Knights Templar you see the sun is shining on the statue that we've come to see correct yes and guarding pieish he was made Night by our first king of Jose rich in 1157 after a successful military campaign in the Holy Land where the Templars were headquartered during the Crusades while Dean pies returned to Tamar Portugal where he became the fourth Grand Master of the order Jerry would make tumar the new Templar headquarters in Portugal and according to some researchers the temporary hiding place for their Priceless religious Treasures there was 1307 when when King Philip and and the pope actually brought them to the knees that's the official abandonment of the Knights Templar organization was 13. 1317. however he's believed that several hundred nights escaped with their sacred Treasures some went to Scotland While others fled back to Portugal and were renamed the Knights of Christ but to this day no one knows for sure what became of their Priceless Treasures the Portuguese King Denise did something very clever he just rebranded the Templars into the order of Christ so what he did he invented a new name and a new logo so instead of the Templar cross that we will see on the shield of guildim he made a square cross with the flattened edges and another cross in the middle this is the cross that you will see for example on the ships that went to America and then over time it got a little bit longer until it ended like yesterday so on the church you see the elongated Cross of the order of Christ wow so when we look at that representation that you have this one here yes when I look at Nolan's cross on Oak Island then I see this representation the longer part of the stem Nolan's cross possibly could indicate Portuguese influence can we make that assessment yes if the cross you have it's in this shape so it's kind of like a fingerprint that if they created Nolan's cross it would be in the form of the elongated cross yes put it that way could Rick lagina be correct that the megalithic cross formation of Boulders that was discovered in 1981 by Fred Nolan on Oak Island is a representation of the symbol for the Portuguese Knights of Christ the long-stemmed Templar cross in Nolan's cross they are quite similar the stem is much longer than the arms there's something to this an actual connection between Portugal and Oak Island the thing we've found on Oak Island is even the most subtle clue might have impact I might have import and that's why we're here right absolutely looking for Clues maybe in this scoop right here you got that Gary David and Peter have joined treasure hunter Michael John and heavy equipment operator Billy Gerhart as they continue investigating the southern edge of the mysterious triangle-shaped swamp hey you and I we found a lot of ship spikes of wolf pins all along this stretch that's why I'm surprised we haven't found any of those yet yeah and those are only what six inches to a foot down yeah and now we're digging six feet down but what we have been finding is some really cool interesting pieces of wood from a like an old sailing ship yeah and some good stuff you ready oh mate in recent weeks the team has recovered a number of clues in this area that could also help validate Scott Clark's Theory including possible deck planking as well as tools related to ships and a trapezoid-shaped piece from a believed cargo boat that was dated to as early as 1680.

[Music] oh yeah that stands out one more for the pile that's a very interesting piece of wood it's very similar to some of the planking that we've found but this is irregular it's wider at this end and thinner there obviously was shaped by man and that stands out yeah I mean what what would you call it decking or siding probably decking Gary be correct that Billy has just recovered another piece connected to a large ship in 1969 the esteemed landowner and treasure hunter Fred Nolan drained the swamp and was astonished to discover his own Trove of ship-related artifacts these included scuppers and even part of a mast the operation made Fred speculate that the swamp may have been artificially created in order to hide an entire Treasure Galleon could the potentially ship-related discoveries that the team continues to make in the swamp not only support Fred's Theory but also Scott Clarks but definitely another piece that we can maybe have C4 in and have the Marine archaeologists put some eyes on it I'll definitely get it looked at I'll put this to one side [Music] I'd like to see some coins coming up here yeah this is the edge of the beach anything that got washed off that stone roadway as well would be really cool but it's gonna get stuck in yeah that is interesting yeah I got something what are you thinking definitely shaped kind of looks like it would be inside a small boat maybe the rails across that's definitely man-made I was thinking that too a wooden fragment potentially from a smaller type of nautical vessel could it be connected to the trapezoid-shaped artifact dating back as early as the 1680s that was found in this area one week ago it was the opinion of geoscientist Dr Ian Spooner that it may have been part of a Long Boat used to unload cargo from a much larger sailing ship that's from that two to three feet death seems like we're finding most of the pieces of wood at about two to three feet deep yeah could these fines be related to the pieces of cargo barrels found near The Stone Wharf one year ago and if so could they also be related to the traces of silver recently detected Deep In The Money Pit there are all kinds of things with significance in the swamp at this point we are finding bits and pieces in there from a ship so is there a ship in the swamp or are there bits of a ship in the swamp that were used for other things we haven't got an answer to that yet that one's really interesting yeah yeah well but let's keep these to the side yeah perfect God this is fun all right guys it's just right up here metal detection expert Gary Drayton along with Jack Begley and surveyor Steve gumptill arrive on lawn eight located on the western side of the island Lot 8 has continued to produce compelling clues that may be critical in helping to solve the Oak Island mystery all right so this is the anomaly okay as you can see it's an indentation there does seem to be some sort of a depression in the ground yeah so I'm going to say this is probably one of the most interesting anomalies we've had this year and it's just strictly based on the data there is a vlf hit right here so that just means there's something going on under the surface I'm sure we'll find some stuff here I'm open it's a big jewelry box down here it's going to be something yeah I mean this whole area is a hot spot yeah all right guys I gotta run though let me know bye thanks cheers all right let's start gridding it out Cloud 8 clearly is anomalous because of all the fines and because of several things like lidar and Zenith map and there's a MAG anomaly there too there's a lot of iron in this area for sure all kinds of things that don't make sense because nobody ever lived there that makes you wonder what happened on Wadi we have gotten it right in the area that Steve last marked right there mate we're trying to understand the whole island trying to understand everything as it relates to the Story the mystery that is Oak Island We Know The Money Pit is of interest and now we have some new research and some new theories that leads us to these other x marks the spots it's out yeah that's quite a strong signal but the sound of it look at that you see how it's mushroomed there oh but it's been beat on up here with that Adele mate look that looks like it's the end of it and the best way to describing this is an iron Rod it could be a chisel yeah exactly and when you're older in your hand like this you you get the feeling that yeah it could have been a chisel man this has got a swages and point chisel feel about it I think this is a very very old piece of History we're old in in Iran's smoke that's incredible come and date in the ampoint Chisel and the swages back to the Middle Ages oh really it was way back to the 1400s mate well then what the heck is going on in this area I don't know mate cast three years that looks old to me that looks unforged huh the team has not only recovered a similar metal artifact near Smith's Cove on the Eastern end of the island but also two iron tools known as swages here on the western side of the island these are very very rare which blacksmithing expert Carmen Lake believed to be of great significance I would say the swages they were used for major mining or tunneling operation for tunneling I would go back as far as mid 1400s feel how heavy that is made could this iron object that Gary and Jack have just found also be that old and if so could it possibly be connected to the large anomalies that have been detected much deeper below ground it's a cool find though we're finding more things like swages and rock chisels and other objects that lead to work being done on the western side of the island previous to the discovery of The Money Pit so how were these tools related and why were people doing work on the western side I'm out I'll put the flag in but you know what mate I think we should get this back to the archeology trailer now so the guys can start working on this right away we'll come back what a fantastic day the following morning Marty lagina joins Jack Begley Gary Drayton and members of the team on lot 8. well it's time to dig our guys yep after following up with the authorities they have been granted permission to conduct a five foot deep excavation at the site of the mysterious anomalies the okm says there is an anomaly here at five feet and one at 20. if I can get you down five that thing might say something oh yeah this will get is another five the GPX 5000 is pulse induction mate this is Big Bertha if they succeed in finding evidence of human activity they can apply for a permit that would allow for a much deeper investigation all right what do you say we dig yeah let's do it okay mate I'll get settled what I would really like to see as I'm digging is something that is buried there of significance so obviously a chamber of some sort would be fabulous so you know to hit metal to hit concrete to hit wood even to find wood here say five feet down with me gigantically significant it would be hiding something and of course every bucket you're always looking for signs of treasure it's a heck of a lot of rubbles all right nothing but Rock yeah I know it's all those Rocks coming up look like someone had fill this area all of this here it all looks like it's Phil it's Disturbed it's just like the paved area there's just a big layer of rocks right across this whole area is it Disturbed more this way yeah so I should go that way yeah pretty big route come out of there that Boulder is a bit like an iceberg isn't it there's a lot going on down there wouldn't you say it's almost for sure that's been dug before it looks like it's been Disturbed there oh you see all the Organics well the boulder it suggests that somebody dug then pulled the Rock and put it there I just know there's got to be something deeper it'll be an etch this might lead to something much
