The Suspicious Case of the Reykjavik Confessions

The Suspicious Case of the Reykjavik Confessions

Show Video

This. Week on BuzzFeed himself we discussed the reykjavik confessions and icelandic case in which six people confess, to murders that police have no physical evidence ever occurred, this is a treat for me because. As. You, know yeah i went on a trip to Iceland, last year yeah I've heard about it it certainly is one of the many arrows in your anecdote, quiver a big one well I'm excited to tell you that perhaps the place that you deemed, heaven maybe, isn't so heavenly, stunning. This. Does yeah. Hot springs great stuff let's get into it on January. 26th. 1974. Booth moon Dare Anderson, a quiet, 18, year old laborer went, out drinking with some friends, they ended up in a dance hall and happen Arthur a town, just south of Reykjavik. Goof, moon Dare left the party in the early hours of the day and decided to walk home around. 2:00 a.m. two, of his friends saw, a good mood there on the road trying, to hitch a ride with another, man they did not recognize both. Men were clearly drunk and Guth moon there swayed, as he stumbled his way through the snow booth moon there never made it home, at the, time the, entire country, of Iceland's, population, was about two hundred and twenty thousand people for context that's five thousand, fewer people than lived in Reno Nevada, in 2010. Major, crimes were very very uncommon, they, didn't even have government. Bodies tasked, with finding missing, people after. A few weeks of searching and coming up empty the, volunteer, search parties ended, their hunt yeah, not a lot of crime they're not used to it still, I mean you should have some systems in place let me tell you something about Iceland. One morning we, woke up to, go on a beautiful kayak, trip, the woman who drove us to the kayak thing we were talking about just, the way things go there and she. Said you know we don't have a lot of crime here about, once a year we will do a murder and she made. And. I was like okay, I know you know you're not implying that the whole country gets, together and picks one person like the lottery and decides, to sacrifice, them. She. Said, we will do over there do a murder. Around, ten months after good moon there anderson disappeared. On november 19, 1974. A quiet, construction. Worker given their anderson, with no relation, to good moon there was watching TV with a friend at his home in kep Levesque the pair briefly left to go to the harbor cafe but Geffen there shortly returned, back, at home he received a phone call his. Wife goofed knee said governor, told the man on the other end of the call quote I've already. Come end quote. Followed by quote I'll come, and quote, GERD Fenner then drove his car into town parked, close to a cafe, left, his keys in the ignition exited. His vehicle and, was never, seen again, two, guys disappear, within the span of ten months they have the same last name no relation in a place where this is not common yes, so, we may have a bit of a crook on our hands, yeah maybe, turning around up the. Task force. To. Find the missing people another. Missing person, meant another search party of, volunteers, who, found no trace of Garin er this being the second disappearance, within the year detectives. Decided, it might be time to do a bit more sleuthing, the, first step for police, was to find out who called Garin er two teenagers, and a cafe employee described, a man they had seen place a call from a phone booth outside the cafe, from, these descriptions, the, police made a clay recreation. Of a man's face and began, showing it around kept, Levesque is a small town so, when no one could identify the man depict it in the police's, model, they assumed the man was from out of town the. Manager of a nightclub in nearby Reykjavik, was questioned, but released by, the following summer detectives, had no witnesses, and crucially, no, bodies, what they did have were rumors swirling around once, Ivar, see sales key so. This is a. Possible. Suspect. Based, off description, so instead of doing like a a police sketch they, did a yeah arts and crafts I got a little mr. Potato Head mr.. Potato Head here. Sy, VAR c sales key was a local petty criminal, with a penchant, for stealing things like alcohol candles. And checkbooks, he, sold drugs and, would tell his girlfriend. But let doctor about, his desire to commit, the quote perfect. Crime end quote, together, the two would forged checks using, airless, job as a telex, operator for Iceland's post and telecommunication.

Company Shortly after Geffen Nair went missing aired 'la and savart bought one-way tickets, to Copenhagen, with money they didn't bezel from Atlas job so, these are these these is like a Bonnie and Clyde situation, yeah, you. Know what actually. Now. That you bring this up I did. Go to Copenhagen. Right after Iceland, and it is a stunning. City. Wouldn't. Mind escaping there in. Denmark. Antlia, soon became pregnant and the couple moved back to Reykjavik, to have their baby in September 1975. In, order to support his new family, cybers, plan was, to smuggle cannabis. Into Iceland. Perhaps. Consequently, Ella, decided, the two should live apart. I'm. Gonna provide, for this family. Some, of that good good good, turn Iceland, into Greenland, baby. While. Police were still stymied, by the previous, year's two disappearances. They had been making progress on a case of some stolen money at the post and telecommunication. Company on December, 12 1975. Savar, was arrested, on suspicion, of embezzlement. Two, days later antlia. Was also taken into custody Ella. Initially, denied everything, authorities. Questioned, her and detained, her in solitary confinement, after. Seven days of grueling questioning. She confessed, to the post and telecommunication. Fraud as she, was preparing to be released, investigators. Showed Erika, a photo of Guth moon dirt intercept the first man to go missing, who, she recognized, from Reykjavik, they, had once shared a card together and had on another occasion ran into one another at a party, etna, told investigators. That she vaguely remembered, the night good moon there disappeared, she, had been at a nightclub without sy bar who she thought was in Denmark at the time when, she got home she immediately, fell, asleep though, she recalled a nightmare, in which she could hear sigh bars boys whispering, outside, her window. Sensing, the faintest, hint of a lead police, asked, her if it was possible she hadn't been dreaming, so instead. Of releasing her they'd been through Ella, back in solitary confinement, crook, Lord she admits to the embezzlement yeah and then they throw a Hail Mary they say here's a picture of goo moon there yeah hey you do crimes, you know. She. Remembers him she, has a nightmare that. Sigh bar who, is unaccounted, for is whispering, outside of her window the. Police then, say maybe, it wasn't a nightmare yeah, they then throw her back into solitary confinement two, birds one, stone as, they say that, is what they say little something I heard in Iceland.

Alone. Air club began to doubt her memories, she, thought quote is it possible, they killed someone in the apartment and I saw the whole thing and I can't remember, end quote, Ella, was questioned, for six hours on December, 20th, naming, sy bar and their friend Kristian Vitter as possible. Suspects, in booth moon dares disappearance. She also, mentioned, being perplexed, to come home On January 27th. 1974. The day after goof moon there disappeared, to find her bed sheet missing investigators. Drew, up a confession that said she saw cypher and three, others, carry the body of guthe Linder while wrapped in the missing bedsheet, antlia, signed it after being kept in solitary confinement, for days and being, threatened, to be kept there indefinitely all while, she had an 11, week old baby at home Eric, but herself was only 20 years old like. You put me in a room for. Three, straight days I'm. Starting, to already questioned my sense of reality yeah I needed. To talk to people the, next day cypher, who had been in solitary confinement this, whole time was, questioned, for 10 hours then, six hours the day after once, investigators, finally showed him airless confession, sy bar told investigators. He was involved along, with three friends Christian, who cypher had seen that adla had already named, Craig, V Runa and Albert, Kaun, so, he's in solitary he's, wondering what the hell's going on they're grilling, him for 16 hours and then, they show that his, you, know I guess former significant, other hasn't, a signed confession saying, this is what he did I think that's the last, draw right that breaks the camel's back and you may suspect if, he's. Thinking well if I confess to this maybe they'll just get me out of solitary but, if I implicate. Some other people maybe. Maybe that'll, spread. It out a bit exactly, the police had developed an unfortunate. Habit of during, their suspects, in solitary, confinement, anytime. They needed to solicit, a confession. In this criminal case they, arrested, the three men and threw them into solitary, eventually. The men all confessed, to playing roles in booth moon dares murder now, that they had extracted, confessions, for one disappearance, the investigators, wondered, was, it possible, that they could solve the second one - pretty. Much everyone I met in Iceland was so kind, and so polite I just. Imagined, the most polite people in the world doing this and being like well, we figured out that if you put them in that room you. Know they'd tell you. So. I guess, maybe we'll just keep doing that I would like to not think that's the case I would like to think that maybe the community is pressuring like this. Guy's running rampant they're killing, they killed two people that's twice the output in the last 20 years we got to do something and this. Is the answer they're they're doing result based investigative, techniques they're getting the signature they did their job in their head yeah that's how they're legitimizing, it which like. I said some people you, could you could understand that police. Went back to air club and asked, if it was possible the men they've gotten confessions, out of for good moon there's disappearance, could have also been involved in get winners as well antlia. Replied quote maybe, end quote. The police told their quote we have a reason to believe that you have experienced, something traumatic concerning, Geffen Ayres disappearance, and we are going to help you remember and quote, they, were like do you think this could maybe be connected, to this other disappearance.

And She said maybe. And, they're, like oh yeah that's the Greenline baby fire up that room again. Ridiculous. Oh great great this is the second, time they have taken her out she. Assigned something and thought I'm free good to go and then they said uh-uh uh-uh and, you, go so you just got to think about what. That would do to your brain her. Brain is Plato right now yeah the, police began to question it. Sighs var and Christian, about guarantors, disappearance, and sure, enough received. Confessions. From all of them their, stories however kept, changing at, one point the murder happened on a boat but, the final confession presented, in court said, the men had killed him on land eventually. Christian mentioned, a foreign-looking, man who, helped them murder Jeff inner that, foreign-looking, man was, eventually identified. As Guth yon Scarpia Tinson a former, teacher of ciphers if you had a good teacher they say like write a note to him let him know how much you appreciate it give him an apple or something it'd be weird to be like hey you did a great you I really liked the multiplication. Tables we did you. Want to kill a guy yeah, you did a really good job molding, my mind you did it such a good job I'd, like you to come. In with me on this big score. How'd you like to make a man disappear. Guth. Yan was arrested, on November 12, 1976. Though, he initially claimed, he could not remember the night in question which, at this point was almost two years ago 17. Days of solitary confinement managed. To jog his memory and, he confessed, by, December, 1976. Antlia, sighs Vaart Christian, Guth Yan trivy. And Albert, had confessed to involvement, in the murders despite, the fact that all suspects, demonstrated, foggy memory of the events the fact that aired Lucifer, and Christian all tried to retract their confessions, which the court rejected and the fact that no murdered bodies had been discovered in December, 1977. They were all found guilty by, the court and given, various sentences relating, to their involvement oh boy. Yeah, this, is this is now getting kind of comical at this point yeah they're, just roping him in it's, worth pausing to go over what life was like for the six while they were detained by the police, Albert. Spent a total of 88, days in solitary, confinement, antlia. Spent two hundred and forty-one days, goofy on spent, four hundred and twelve, days trip, Vee spent, six hundred and twenty-seven, Christiaan. Spent, six hundred and eighty two and savart. Spent, a whopping seven. Hundred and forty-one, days more, than two full years in, solitary confinement. They were periodically, prohibited, from sleeping, and interrogated. Hundreds. Of times according. To prison guard Lena Thor Magnussen SCI VARs head would be dunked, in buckets of water as he was told he'd drown if he did not confess that. Is ridiculous. Usually it seems like when they try to force a confession like, this it's. Like they maybe may, not reveal they've got someone locked up Duncan their head, in a bucket. Pretty. Proud of themselves you know I imagine, yeah be they were pleased, with the results while in detention, Christiaan twice, attempted, suicide at times, he was made to pose and recreated, crime scene photos in one, Christian. Strangles, a police officer, who is standing in for given her false, memory experts, say that the acting, out of supposed crimes, can make those crimes more, concrete, and realistic, in the suspects, mind, on May. 3rd, 1976. Art 'la who was not being detained at the time was, brought in for questioning as a witness, she was kept in custody overnight and the following day seemingly, out of nowhere give.

A Statement that she had shot air Fenner she, was then detained in, solitary. Until December, 22nd. Their, cruelty seems, to know no end if, you're already doubting, yourself in, thinking like man maybe maybe, my brain is just blocking. Off that part of my memory suddenly, now, you've. Got sensations, to tie to all the things that you may or may have not done the, psychology, of it is like maybe if I give them this or that they'll, let me go yeah and that's, all it becomes on New, Year's Eve, 1976. Gisli, Guth young son a young, detective at the time of the disappearances. Who has since become one of the world's foremost false, memory syndrome experts. Gave, Guth young a lie-detector. Test that, test, sparked, something in Guth young causing, him to suddenly question, whether he had been involved at all he, couldn't remember any event happening, gisli. Author of the book the psychology of false, confessions, 40 years of science, and practice, says, false memory syndrome which. Can be triggered by interrogations. With false evidence, isolation. And tense emotional, situations, can, lead to false confessions, easly says. Diary kept by Gucci on while he was detained in solitary, for 14 months was, the best example, of false memory syndrome he's ever seen of the, whole case gisli, says that quote these, individuals. Had absolutely. No knowledge of what happened they were just trying to appease the police they, were trying to be cooperative because. They knew if they were not cooperative, they, will be given more solitary confinement, end quote. Well, who's this young go-getter, shown up on the scene because I like the cut of his jib. Yeah. He's, kind of writing in like the white knight I like, you, got this young detective, sitting there he's, probably like hey, you know that guy's been in that room for 700 days maybe, that's not the best practice that we should be engaging, in yeah maybe.

Think About what we're doing here folks oh no no okay well I'm gonna write a book about you, know ya with youth comes a changing of the guard so to speak yeah it was necessary, here yeah in, September, 2018. Everyone. Was acquitted but ECLA who was still fighting a conviction of perjury, by, then everyone, had already finished, serving their sentences, and savart, and Cristian had already died both in their 50s while. Much of that was about how horrible, the justice system in Iceland, was in the 1970s, they're still a mystery, to get to the bottom of so, with that here, are some theories about what happened to Guth moon there Anderson, and gif man they're a nursin the, first theory is that the police got this one right Guth, moon dare was murdered by Erica sigh Park Christian, Albert, and trig, V governor. Was murdered by Erica Savar and Christian, and Booth Yin what. Evidence is there of this no, bodies were ever found, though there, was it was missing bedsheet. Missing. Bedsheet doesn't, always equal murder you know my, freshman year of college, mm-hmm, we, went to Bed Bath & Beyond to get some some. Stuff and my mom was like hey, you. Should get these rubber, sheets, I. Said. Why. On why in the hell would I buy rubber sheets and she was like you know case you spill like a pop, on your bed I thought she was gonna say cuz you're like sleeping, in a pool of your own vomit no no. Anyway back, to the murder did you buy the rubber sheets I'm actually no I didn't buy the rubber sheet I think who, would do that apparently. You because you're getting pretty touchy about it which makes me feel like I just know why we're standing in that room for ten days and then I'll ask you about the road okay how about that is good, you're bringing them back around the second theory is that neither man was, murdered while, crime was very uncommon, in Iceland, disappearances. Were not in fact, disappearances. Happened so often in Iceland, that they feature prominently. In the country's folklore, in the 50 years prior to these cases dozens. Of people had gone missing in Iceland, most, of them their cases unsolved, in the, more than 40 years since, the disappearances. Of gooth wonder Anderson, and get, veneer Anderson, they too have, also taken on in nearly mythical. Quality within Icelandic, culture, oh I'm, buying that because, in, Iceland, big open, fields were I don't think people are walking but, on the on the Reg so, you can get a body out there. Decomposes. Nobody, knows yeah. I'm booking up two years later than that book you might take a Dyson right now you've sold me you gotta check it I wasn't on board until you got to the decomposing, body in an open field but after that. Yeah. A third, theory is that the men were murdered but by someone else new evidence, in the case has compelled investigators. To reopen it a new, witness says they saw two men carry, a third weakened, man onto, a boat the date governor, went missing, that, man allegedly, told the eyewitness.

Quote Remember. Me end quote, when, the boat that was carrying two men and the one Wigand man returned, to shore there were only the two men, on board recently. This, witness, claims to have seen one of the men in East Iceland, decades, later working, on electricity, lines weird. That you wouldn't just if you saw someone carrying. A weekend de man who looked at you and said remember me you. Wouldn't maybe. Yeah. Get, the police on the horn maybe do a little hey, I saw a guy get carried off it looked like he couldn't walk he said remember me may want to look into it maybe like well we don't have a missing task force so so. Do you later you later. Hang, it up and that's that yeah, while these mysterious disappearances took, place over 40 years ago we can draw important, lessons, for today in the way the cases were handled while. It might be tempting to try and cram facts to fit a convenient, theory truth, works the other way around had. Authorities, been better equipped to discover the facts of the case perhaps, we'd know what happened to Goodwin there and get Vener but, because of a rush to find a convenient, solution these. Icelandic, disappearances. Remain. Unsolved. It's. Not often, that I have almost, zero hope. That. This one a case is going to be solved I just I feel that way about most cases I'm really a bit, there's, a small glimmer but this one it just I just don't think so and for, the record. Iceland. Is. Breathtaking. And you should really consider heading, out there men hard sell after this story but yeah I'll check it out I met an unsolved, fan there oh really, yeah so shout out to all our murder. Heads in. Iceland. You thought you were doing so well we're caller. Alright. See you next week everybody.

Make sure to leave your questions for our Post Mortem episode down below!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network will you guys ever do the Madeleine McCann story?

#PostMortem It's 100% False Memory Syndrome. About the missing people... 1. Maybe some psycho took/killed them... He(or she) had the perfect location... It's not hard to dispose bodies especially in Iceland. 2. They just left without anyone. 3. Aliens... They erased their memories and it resurfaced when they were stressed the hell out. 4. It's the Watcher. Thoughts? #Shaniac (until given concrete proof of ghouls/demons) #Boogara (when it comes to respecting locations)

Will you be adding BuzzFeed Unsolved Rubber Sheets merch? LMAO #Shaneyoudefinitelyboughtthem #iLOVEtheghoulboys

My largest takeaway from this episode is that Ryan is very upset Shane did not take him to Iceland. #ghoulboysontour #postmortem #ryantist

Do some indian mysteries.

#postmortem: Are Gudmundur and Geirfinnur related, since they have the same surname? Maybe the murderer hates Einarssons. I have a theory that maybe that other unidentified man with Gudmundur may have something to do with his murder. Geirfinnur, on the other hand, could be involved in organized crime or had some bad blood with that other dude on the call. I really hope this makes it to the postmortem. LOvE yOu GuYS SoOo MuCH

#postmortem Do the Max Headroom Hijacking

what if they just like decided to leave town and never come back like tho if shane says iceland was hella pretty why would they leave even, or lmao was this aliens HAHHAHAHHA

Hi Shane, I'm planning a trip to Iceland atm, what is the one thing you think people absolutely HAVE to do/see there? Great show guys, love from the Netherlands.

It was aliens #buzzfeedsolved

Do u have any idea what could be the motif for the murder? Seems kinda hanging there

Maybe... Just maybe... It was aliens...

Ryan going through all that trouble to try and say those names right but still didnt say them right

#postmortem Who did Ryan interview for the pronunciations of the Icelandic names?

#postmortem : the most important thing in were isn't the "what happened to them?" Is what kind of friends see the other friend on the side of the road very (VERY) DRUNK, asking for a ride and DIDN'T STOP to give the so called FRIEND a ride? Oh boy, oh boy, best friend's forever am I right? Love from Portugal!

#postmortem ; is the rate of disappearances in Iceland compared to the population significantly higher than in other countries? If so, even considering the hostile terrain (which locals would surely be familiar with) isn’t that a bit suspicious? From a psychology/sociology perspective if not a criminal one?

How long did it take to learn to pronounce these names

What if shane's mother thought that shane is a bedwetter HAHAHAHA

Shane why didn't you buy the rubber sheets?

How did you guys found this case? btw love you guyss!

When will you release unsolved supernatural season 6? I loved those videos

Why does Ryan look so grossed out when Shane says he went to Copenhagen? Is he jealous? Disgusted? Annoyed? All of the above? Explain

For Postmortem. Why do you think that In September 2018, Iceland's Supreme Court acquitted the five men jailed for the murders but Erla Bolladottir was not acquitted. What more evidence did they have on her that they didn’t have on the others? #postmortem #ghostarenotreal? #oratethey?

Ryan can you gives us a pie fact?

Pie fact?

if you two were in the places of the investigators what would you have done differently? love u guys!

I like how Rayn didn't say that it was aliens

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network when is ryan gonna play us a power ballad on his guitar? #wet

#PostMortem Ryan, how much time did you spend practicing these names and did you have a tutor? (Proudly Boogara!)

Postmortem: What happened to Erla's baby while she was in solitary? #concerned #worryingpolicepractises #postmortem

For post Mortem: who was looking after the baby? It was eleven months old and it’s parents where in solitary confinement. Was he or she ok?

Ryan can pronounce all they Icelandic names but can’t pronounce February

FOR THE POST MORTEM what happened to that baby? #loveyouboth

Next episode Denmark? Creepy country you will never know when a lego brick will hit your head!

BUZZFEED UNSOLVED - TRUE CRIME SEASON X • EPISODE X The Mystery Surrounding the Death of Adolf Hitler plz do hitler #postmortem

Conclusions of this case: don't torture people. Ps : do a episode on Madeleine McCain! #shaniac #respectforBoogarasthough

Question for post-mortem: could they be part of a spy group because none of them made any sense with their confessions as they were all different, and they wouldnt confess immediately meaning they couldn’t remember or were hiding something?

Could you cover Jhonny gosh please

I am a fan from iceland, I loved this episode... my grandfather knew Sævar ciesielski and used to help him with some stuff and Sævar always pay'd him with paintings he painted himself, ... Another fun fact Guðjón Skarphéðinsson was the priest at my baptism. :D - can you guys do a episode about disappearances in iceland, like you say there are a lot of them. or take a trip to iceland and do some supernatural stuff, there is a lot of that s**t here :D #postmortem

for Postmortem: is it possible that both of them somehow left the country undetected? Also how come there were no theories about them having the same last name? I'd like to believe that neither one was murdered, but both of them having the same last name and vanishing in such a small amount of time is pretty sketchy. Love you guys

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Ryan, how hard was it to pronounce the words and names?

for the post mortem: what i’ve elra, did the murder, but all those iceland guys helped her? and now she is turning the tables and she is accusing the guys? and what did ricky thought of this case?

#postmortem who are the 2 friends that saw Gudmundur when he was hitchhiking ? And why did they not stop to bring him home (since he was drunk)?

For Post Mortem: What if the guys just straight up left the country innocently and nobody knew about it. Or, what if they never existed at all and they were used to create a moral panic of sorts, or they were just ghosts

Must be the watcher

Shane, are you sure you didn't get the rubber sheets?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Speaking of missing people, have you guys heard of Alaska's Bermuda Triangle? There's also a BigFoot type creature there called the Kushtaka in local lore. Would be cool to see you guys there on location! Love u guys!#ShaneRyan#bestBromanceEver

Can you guys do the Arushi Talwar case?

Why the clay head could they not have just drawn the face and put posters out instead of walking about with a disembodied head #postmortem

Nice pronunciation Bois

If any of these people were mudered they could have just put their bodys in the middle of nowhere in iceland as theres no people to find them outside of the capital

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network #postmortem how would you do in solitary confinement

Maybe that witness who came forward decades later didn’t go to the police straight away because they didn’t want to be put in solitary confinement too?

#Postmortem Geirfinnur sounded like he knew the person on the other line of the call he got right before he went missing. Could that have implied maybe it wasn't just a disappearance?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network @Post Mortem how long did it took Ryan to practice the names

Ryan, just curious, were you in a fraternity in college? If so, which one? #Boogara

Why are they not searching for a missing person/body at all?

Will you guys do more recent unloved episodes this season?

did the iceland police ever get any fallout for how they treated the suspects?

So, uuuhhh maybe Ricky Goldsworth killed them! The proof is just right there! He doesn’t even know when he goes all psycho. Every case closed it was all Ricky.

This should just be renamed Shane talks about Iceland for 20 minutes

Maybe the two vanished men were lovers and ran away together. They could have chosen to “disappear” at different times in order to avoid suspicion

#PostMorthem Why does Saevar in Solitary the whole time? How come that Saevar in the Solitary?

For Postmortem: Just a theory, I may be way off the mark. Could the Icelandic Police have been trying to cover up for someone incumbent/influential? They could have been bribed into putting the blood of these two men onto some plebeian's hands. Had these six actually been responsible for these murders, the Police should have asked them where the bodies were and tried to search for it. The fact that the Police seemed so quick to target these people seem like they were desperate to close the case due to both public and political pressure. Love you guys! Keep doing what you're doing.

Do MH370 case

When is ruining history coming back???? It was the BEST show ever. #postmortem

Question for post Mortem: Ryan how can you even pronounce these names. But not pronounce "February" anyway love you guys! #shaniac

I'm you #1 Murder Head!

Wait, WHY would the "remember me" witness, knowing all those people were arrested and sentenced to prison, wait so LONG to come forward?

For the postmortem: yeesh, this one was rough. coerced confessions are one of the grosser abuses of power police have and do utilize against civilian suspects a disturbing amount, even now. God its disgusting that theres places where solitary confinement is even legal anymore, its medieval. but, onto the question i wanted to ask: Ryan, while researching this case, did you find any interesting theories on why disappearances were/are so common in Iceland?

For post mortem :- It is possible that the guys must've just ran away or just wanted to be wiped of the face of the earth. The bodies were never found.

Maybe the two cases are not related or it was done by two different groups of people or people??

For the Post Mortem: I've got two theories off the top of my head. 1. What if someone hired a hitman/hitmen over the phone to kill Geirfinnur Einarsson but they got the Gudmundur Einarsson instead because their names were so similar and the call had bad signal? 2. Based on the fact that so many people went missing over the years, what if a supernatural/cult/mob conspiracy was at work in Iceland? It would be the perfect place if any aliens wanted to do some abducting or a secret organisation based there that would make anyone who found out about them disappear. Surprised Ryan didn't bring up any of those types of theories. Love you guys!!

For the post-mortem: Did the Icelandic police determine a motive for the murders?

#postmortem What if these 2 guys just wanted to disappear...

So.. Umm.. This might be silly but I wanted to ask.. What happened to the baby of erla because erla was imprisoned for more than 200 days and i think also sentenced.. I was wondering what happened to that baby?

how is ryan able to pronounce these complicated names but he still can’t say january correctly? #ROASTmortem

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO THE BABY

OMG, you guys. Humor me and watch your video with the "auto generated" closed captions on! It is so confused with the names, I'm feeling very evil for cracking up over a persons disappearance. I'm frikkin dying!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network - would you do an experiment to see how long the average Joe could go through solitary and/ or interrogation before giving up?

How long did Ryan even practice those names bruh?

Buzzfeed Unsolved Network: I have a question (For Ryan and Shane) Why does Saevar in Solitary the whole time? How come that Saevar in the Solitary?

Why does Saevar in Solitary the whole time? How come that Saevar in the Solitary?

I'm just sad Aliens weren't involved in this one #Shaniacs and #Boogaraforlife #unite !

What happened to the baby while their parents were in solitary?

k this is police abuse right here.

Post Mortem: okay but like why didnt the police set up a missing person department if people disappear a lot there, it dont add up boys.

hello Shane and Ryan, i gotta ask, when will you guys make something about the fake moon land of NASA? you have to know its an urban legend, I'm just curious do you guys really think the legend is true or a fake or another option why did NASA faked it? I know the two of you are smart.

+Aníta Rós Would love to visit Iceland! See the volcanoes

Those dudes were clearly carried off by elves.

I just wanted to ask Ryan, how do you find these crimes or mysteries? Because some of them are unknown to me and I research crimes and stories sometimes and I've never heard of some of the stories you've discussed about.

#postmortem: Shane, do you plan on going back it Iceland? Hope you don't go (wheeze) missing. #ghoulboysrock

Was their not a system of bail in Iceland?

i wish you would've used the real mugshots of the people; the mugshots are so 70s it's awesome. they're pretty easy to find too so idk why you didnt...

Ryan: LITERALLY no one: Shane: Iceland is the BEST .

Hey Iceland, quick question. What the hell?

Well, all hail the watcher I guess

Throw in Thanos in solitary confinement for too long and he will confess to Killing half the univ....oh wait

How come NOBODY is commenting on the voice crack at 10:15? Ryan says qUOte

for post mortem : so his friends drive by, see their friend wanting a ride, clearly drunk, and with another drunk stranger that they don't know and they just drove by him? didn't stop? it makes sense that he was trying to get home but eventually drunkenly passed out, but why not try and get home again when he was sober? Also i don't really see the connection to the two cases, they were so far apart, and it may be common for people to have the same last name if the population was so small. (also ghosts are real)

you should really pracice your pronounciation..... just a little bit. cus this is kind of embarrassing

Interesting that both missing men had the name G. Einarsson

watcher: iT wAs aLL mY dOiNg

No-one: Shane: so my trip to Iceland... Did I mention I've been to ice land?

#postmortem This just means that erla and the others are just making up stories since they've been in solitary for too long, so there's a chance that their statements are not true.. Plus if they did murder the two what could be their motive?? I mean even if they're are criminals doing frauds they should still have a motive for killing the 2 righ :')

Gaman að sjá þá taka Guðmundar- og Geirfinnsmálið fyrir

Love the room discussion

This Luks like a UFO abduction

Maybe they do ......one person is sacrificed to the volcano God's every year

Well atleast the country's name is pronouncable

More paranormal videos please!

#postmortem . After Erla and Gudjon got out of the prison they were asked questions. According to Erla and Gudjon they did not execute the crime. In fact they were blackmailed by the policemen to give the statement. Erla was blackmailed about her child.. I love you guys and keep up the good work...

i wish you'd cover the finnish bodom lake murders or the case of anneli auer, simply because i'm finnish

This is a reason torture don't work, you don't get out the truth you get out what ever the interrogator want to hear. So what USA do to the terrorist suspects in Gitmo will not get any result more then material which can be used as anti US propaganda by the enemies and to keep the sheep home calm.

I believe the term you were looking for is "BUNheads", or "BUNies". :-D

Can you guys do a buzzfeed unsolved on the disappearance of Madeline McCann?

Candles... WTF ?!?!? CANDLES ?!?! I'm surprised Shane said NOTHING XD

Ryan did such a good job not butchering those names

You guys should follow the Icelandic police on instagram... @logreglan

I would love you guys to do a episode on the cab mystery in Norway. In norwegian: Drosje mysteriet. A really interesting case.

It is still unsolved.

When they mentioned the police making a clay face model and showing it to everyone, did anyone else remember that weird detective that carried around a mask replica of the boy in the box? #Shaniac #StillLoveYouThoRyan

I hope Iceland has a proper/legitimate government to handle these sort of cases now, God only knows what 'Innocent People' have went through in 'Iceland's Quest for Justice' since their Government was established.

they have the same last names because in Iceland your last name is your father’s name+daughter/son

Coming soon: The Purge: ICELAND "Once a year, we do a MURDER!" *DUN, DUN, DUNNNN*

No one: Literally nobody: Shane: HEY Y'ALL, wanna hear about my trip to ICELAND??

KSJSKSKS THE PRONUNCIATION OF THE ICELANDIC WORDS HAVE ME ROLLING

Since Shane likes Copenhagen they should do an episode here

What if those 2 people just decided to leave Iceland without telling anyone?

shane looks stoned this episode

Idea that probably isn't right: What if the guys that went missing were lovers and they thought 'hey if we go away at different times nobody think we're together' and all the people who were questioned we're in innocent and the people that man saw being dragged to a boat was just drunk and his friends were having some fun with him This definitely isn't right but it's fun to think the that the two guys who disappeared just sitting on their couch and seeing this on the news and begin like we effed up

I like your beard ryan! Very nice! Great video!!!! HAHA

Oh my god. Props to Ryan for pronouncing the names. I would probably mess them up badly

Heck yeah

Wow back to back? It's not even my birthday

you guys should make an episode about the case of a child's death in sweden in 1998 called the "kevin case", saw a documentary on it once, seemed pretty interesting

Now I know if you put someone in a cell,.. they would be a polite person..................

For Post Mortem: Are we officially called "Murderheads" from now on LOL

For the postmortem comrades, if they confessed the murder, didn’t the investigators ask them about the location of the bodies?

For Post Mortem: To both Shane and Ryan, which theory do you believe is the most likely to have happened?

Hey who's the father of Erlas baby? I have theory that the guy who was missing may have slept in Erlas bed because they were living together or Erla was he's sidechick. Maybe he got her pregnant. Maybe she hated him or didn't want anyone to find out and told her friends who kidnapped the guy by wrapping him in their bedsheets, throwed him in to a truck and then killed him. That would explain the missing bedsheet and the motive if this case is even real. What do you think Shane and Ryan? #postmortem #loveyourshow #beenheresinsethefirstepisode

The only thing suspicious here is Ryans hair

Im from Iceland omg omg omg

I swear I just was there!

So, how f***ed up is it for the police to not only keep a (potentially innocent) mother locked up away from her 11 month old baby, but to keep her imprisoned well into the 2019? On what grounds?? Suppose she was involved in the murder alongside men. Are you telling me her involvement was more severe than the mens to warrant her being the only one remaining in prison? With no evidence, no body, no murder weapon and a bunch of confessions received under torture (yes, torture. how else do you call this shitshow?) are you telling me the police has solid ground for treating her like that? I hate to throw the word around, but what the hell is this, if not a severe case of sexism? The police needed a scapegoat to cover their incopetency and they got one. The judical system of Iceland is FUCKED UP and I am disgusted with their conduct.

Omg omg im from reykjavik!

Goddamn iceland has a pretty facist police system

Why do they both seem so tired this episode

Who puts the "(wheeze)" every time before the guy laughs? Can't even hear it haha

You should do a video on the Birmingham (UK) pub bombings. The IRA claimed responsibility but the men imprisoned were found to be wrongly convicted and released after 16 years in prison. The police were found to have used wrongful methods in investigating the bombings and there is some suggestion of a cover-up. The investigation has been reopened an closed a few times since then and is currently open

i crylaughed through this episode, ryans pronounciation is so good lmao

There's an amazing documentary on Netflix about this!

okay but why was that dude stealing candles??

There were only 220k people in a whole country? There’s 8 million people just in my city lol

these poor bastards, jfc. put investigators in solitary before they're allowed to put anyone else in

Whether they killed somebody or not, I think anyone put in solitary confinement for days would confess to anything just to get out of that misery.

solitary confinement is torture. it has long term psychological and physiological effects like depression, psychosis, self-harm, suicide, and so so, the mental pain that people in solitary are subjected to is inhumane. we're only just beginning to understand how harmful it really is to the human brain. there is some evidence that even a short stay in solitary can lead to the prisoner being unable to differentiate what is inside and what is outside their own body. solitary confinement is often used for minor offences in prison as well, such as stealing food,. "juveniles are held in solitary confinement in jails and prisons across the United States, often for days, weeks, months, or even years" and their psyche is permanently damaged due to this. so please take a moment to donate to Chelsea Manning's legal fund. she has just been released into GenPop after 28 days in solitary and is being held in prison indefinitely, all for refusing to testify in front of a grand jury.

I’ve good a good case, what about the charge of the light brigade in the Boer war in why it went horribly wrong. Also you could do what William Morris said when he was taking his note or something to the battlefield.

Shane, I know I can just google this, but can you explain what the heck "rubber sheets" are? I feel like it is self explanatory but I still want to hear it from you.

the way they pronounce the names are funny

Listen I love then but I can’t stop cringing on how they pronounce everything

#postmortem What if these people are victims of human trafficking? Usually when a person gets trafficked, people can't find them or any information at all. Iceland is not very populated so maybe the traffickers take that as an opportunity and steal people from there knowing that nobody will look for them since it's a part of their culture.

I couldn't watch this to the end. Too frustrating and deeply disturbing.

My dad wanted me to buy a rubber shirt

Never trust nice quaint places. There’s always some messed up secret like lunatic police torturing their citizens and eliciting false confessions

shane talks about iceland the way rich girls talk about europe after taking a semester abroad

"getting kinda comical" I'd have said something more like horrifying, disgusting, extreme, or inhumane. But sure.

For the #Postmortem : alright be honest y'all how many shane's vacation stories did you cut from this episode

For postmortem Since Iceland's population was small back then, could news be spread that the two guys were missing. Perhaps this caused police and investigators to be put under pressure since the crime wasn't very common. They probably wanted someone to confess to the supposed "murder" of the two guys. This could be similar to what the police did to Frank Dolezal which was forcing him to confess. The solitude maybe had a toll on the suspects minds there fore this could have made some if them think they were in fact part of the crime. This maybe was all done to let the public be at ease. #boogara #shaniac (both great)

For #postmortem do you guys think it's possible the police were involved with the two disappearances/ murders? That would explain why they were just so damn desperate to frame someone.

the names are killing me

They dont have a search team but a crap ton of solitary confinement.

This wasn’t the best of all of the episodes the boys do but they are always entertaining. Seems like just a horrendous indictment of Iceland’s policing abilities in the 70’s. Who wouldn’t question that kind of treatment those people were getting?

maybe the 2 victims just ran away together and the whole boat situation was staged

I feel so bad for Ryan who has to pronounce all of the icelandic words

Lol iceland...we dont have a sketch artist we only have Gunther who plays with clay.

I like turtles

Cant go missing on an island.

When the half Hispanic speaks better icelandic than spanish.

Can you look at the Enfield Haunting outside of London - so fascinating and interesting!

19:10 as in, like, coco?

Is it possible that aliens were responsible for both disappearances, which would explain why no bodies were discovered, as they were taken aboard. And maybe the police only convicted those people, as to cover up for the aliens and not spread fear among the population of iceland??

If theory one is correct that they all murdered the 2 men how come, they stayed in in prison that long?

*gasp*

You have to make a Madeline McCann one, only you guys can solve it

I think you should do an investigation about the Stockholm syndrome

You should do the "Sacramento Vampire murders"

these uploads are so chaotic lmao get your schedules right

2:36 that's what she said

it's nice to have a case from Iceland since I am from Iceland.

10:14 that voice crack from Ryan lmao

Pls do olof palme

If Iceland has so many people who disappear, isn’t it possible one or both of them just left the country? Saevar and Erla just dipped over to Denmark, what’s to say that one of the victims didn’t do the same?

What happened to the child?

Why would she call it a NIGHTMARE and then The police are like “are you sure it wasn’t a nightmare.” But if she woke up from the dream than wouldn’t that make sense that she was asleep?

+Bloody Scourge He's a legend

You guys said that crime was very uncommon so there wasn’t a special government bodies tasked with finding missing people, but then said missing people cases were very common in iceland. If missing people were common, then why was there no missing people government body? (Sketchy part ahead) maybe the government did something with all those people, and then the population started to get suspicious and demanding investigations and answers, so the government just made these random people confess so the public would be satisfied and be quiet again.

I love that this episode had captions available! It helps a lot your international, not-so-fluent-in-english fans and deaf friends!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network if all suspects were kept isolated and separated, how their confessions weren’t wildly different from each other?

Can you do the Justice for Garrett case from Potsdam NY?

for the #postmortem: is it possible that the victims could've been taken/eaten by the local wildlife?

Its amazing, he didn't say aliens

For Post Mortem: So what was going on with the baby while they were in confinement? You said that he was left at home but with who? He couldn't possibly be at home alone?

If you do go to Iceland you can take my dog she’s trained in Human remains detection.

Geirfinnur is my grandmothers brother. Youre talking about my family. I feel weird

I have a question: do we ever know what happened to Saevar and Erla’s baby? I can’t imagine how difficult that must’ve been for Erla to be away from her child as much as she was. I would imagine that it’s important for a mother and child to bond soon after birth (I’m no expert, so correct me if I’m wrong), and she couldn’t even do that because she was stuck in solitary confinement for a crime she might not have committed. Ps love you guys! #boogara

For Postmortem: I don’t think they actually killed anyone. It can take up to three hours to convince a person they committed a crime that they didn’t actually do and the fact it took them up to and more than 700 days to get some of the confessions makes me think that they weren’t the actual killers and that it was somebody else. Alternatively, they missing guys could have been embroiled in some shady stuff and just ran away on their own accord knowing they wouldn’t be found. Great job on the pronounciations btw Ryan and thanks for the motivation to go to Iceland Shane

What the heck was wrong with those police officers? Using dreams as evidence and “helping” people to remember things by mentally torturing them with solitary confinement sounds like a bit much. Also, somebody please make a compilation of all the times Ryan has said “quote” and “unquote”.

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Where was Erla’s baby during this whole ordeal?

There is also a realistic theory that Guðmundur wasn't murdered but just stumbled somewhere drunk and died from the cold weather. There has also been speculation that Geirfinnur's weird phone call might have been about a drug deal or even a gay hookup as him and his wife apparently didn't have a happy marriage. He might either have run off with or been murdered by the person he went to meet.

So nobody asked this people why did they murder those guys?

It's not a question but they don't share the same last name they share the same father's name The last name of a male Icelanders usually ends in the suffix -son (“son”) and that of female Icelanders in -dóttir (“daughter”)

deerish s

In what way was Erla’s connection to the victim(s)? She said she had gone out clubbing and seen one of the victims on the night of the murder... were there ever any alibis surrounding that claim?

Love this series so much ngl

Is it possible that there was a hit out for someone with a name beginning with G and a surname of Einarsson? The hitman might have mistaken Gudmunder for Geirfinnur as it is very unlikely that two men with similar names would go missing months apart. Also, did detectives follow up on Geirfinnur's wife's lead?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network maybe it was frostbite or hyperthermia

these names r weird

Is there any point commenting what unsolved case I would like to see next? Because I have mentioned the Villisca axe murders on several of your videos guys. This would be a good one for either Unsolved or Supernatural. Please do it.

Maybe you could even do some kind of crossover.

It's the hidden people

I hope they know that the surname system here is totally different from other countries. We have our fathers name + either son if you’re a guy or dóttir if you’re a girl. So the two guys just a had dads with the same name.

No motive to kill?

#postmortem Do u guys know about the Danish ubout case? U should check that out!

This was great, but i just couldn't stop laughing about the name pronunciation!!

My cat selected this video and woke me up lol

Bolladóttir means mug doughter

I'm from Iceland and I just wanna ask are icelandic names THAT hard to say? Skskjs I'm laughing at Geirfinnur

As an Icelandic person this is so bad pronouncing

OMFG the 10 days in a room challenge ☠☠☠☠

Reno!!

From Iceland

Be a Boss! Drive for lyft and earn your dreams! Use code ARRIONE73916 Lyft.com

You’re supposed to pronounce Guðmundur like Guth-mundur.

I find their pronunciations so funny btw

Pleeeeeeeeeeease do the westall alien sightings in australia pleeeeeeeeease

Why didn't police just ask about Bodies and where they pot them ??

You should do the Madeline McCann case

She said, ''maybe" and they were like "Oh yeah thats the green light baby. Fire up that room again." You put that woman in solitary confinement for some more time and She'll confess to the goddamn chicago fire.

It is basically police torture

Lol Im from Copenhagen❤️❤️

yeah denmark! no really denmark is boring, and weird we don't really have anything, but some citys are really pretty, i guess. but anyways great video:) it's rare to hear the word denmark from youtubers who aren't from denmark. i love murderer mysteries and well just mysterires.

the picture used for Saever looks like the actor Carl Martin Eggesbo, from the Norwegian show Skam.

Plz do a video on Nonna's pizzeria

Geirfinnur was not watching tv with his friend and his son did hear the words not his wife

Perhaps the cops did it

Guðmundur and geirfinnur case gudmundur was born 1955 and geirfinnur 1942

Great Video as always. For any of you wondering this stuff works.

okay but americans badly pronouncing icelandic names is now my favorite thing ever

she did it and got the loved one back

Number 15. Reykjavik.

Icelandic Police: You have done the crime or not WE WILL GET THE CONFESSION OUT OF YOU! Shane: I have been to Iceland, beautiful place, you should definitely go there..

So... did they ever looked for bodies Or like personal items?

You can go on Netflix and watch “Out if thin air” and see this case explained with more details and also photos. Enjoy

Since everyone's already said everything I wanted to say about this crime, all I'm going go comment on is how amazed I am by Ryan's pronounciations. I'm not Icelandic, so I know how hard it is to pronounce. Props to you Ryan for not biting your tongue all the time.

It’s solitary confinement because no one else is in prison in Iceland

Bodomjärvi killings wanted for next episode! (:

How about on Jeff the killer??

Please do a episode on barmuda triangle's mysterious disapperances

Do you think they should re open the case and examine the minds of these people with full psychological evaluations

I cringe so much when they say town names & names

I’m icelandic so i find it really funny to hear ryan say those icelandic names. Btw we in iceland the prisons in iceland are basically like a hotel, prisoners get there own room with a bathroom and a tv. We actually dont have a jail, so the people that they are questioning are in solitary confinement but its not like in the us. They get books and a tv so its not the complete hell that your imagining.

I hate that manequin

For the 7.6327% who sees this... Now you have great luck forever :) Like to activate

This comment belongs in permanent solitary confinement

suspect: h— icelandic police: solitary confinement

Stolen comment

Solitary confinement shouldn't exist.

Didn't they have defense attorneys? Didn't the court even take the way the confessions were obtained into consideration?

Okay I'm Icelandic and I'm impressed in how well you can pronounce the names

Everybody is seeming to forget that this took place in the 1970s. The US justice system was doing things just as bad as this back then

I love when you do cases like this that don’t get as much coverage as others. It gives a sense of being original

Have You seen My new YouTube channel Click here to view my New YouTube channel

#postmortem Is anyone else confused about what erla's part in the crime was

Hey, Buzzfeed Unsolved! Since you’re talking about a Nordic case, can you maybe talk about some Swedish cases? Like the confessions of Thomas Quick, the Da Costa case or the vampire murder?

There was once some people That fell in to the ocean

You said Reykjavík wrong On icelandic i would say... Þú sagðir Reykjavík vitlaust... Not Saevar its Sævar

I really appreciate you learning how to pronounce icelandic for this episode, Ryan!

This series really fell off. It’s not scary like it used to be

#3 on trending bois

Don’t look at my username

I love this song Www.ratanakiricambodia.wordpress.com

So they tortured her into a confession? Edit: they tortured everybody!

Iceland is great. I just want to see my name on the Eve Wall in Reykjavik. I'll be happy and glad to get away from the ice then.

#postmortem what happened to Erla's baby?

Please do a video on Aarushi murder case in India.

Pls watch this. Have a nice day. :) https://youtu.be/yEAHKVc8PYc

I like the cut of his jib.

Im danish

https://youtu.be/eKS7FtC80vM Watch this

the pronounciation is frickin horrible

Do Madeleine McCann

When you realise you could have visited Iceland around the same time as Shane

Shane looks high

completely unrelated, but ya'll should go through the shanghai tunnels in portland oregon

Two men disappeared Solitary confinement cleared No matter how long you lock her Should've gone with the lie detector

Guys please do an episode on Robert Durst- he’s been accused of three murders and been found guilty of one of them (thorough self-defence). There’s been several films about him including “All good things” with Ryan Gosling and a documentary which details a lot about him with a possible accidental confession at the end of the series.

Im from Iceland, born and raised and honestly none of this is surprising

I love you guys but this was HARD to watch, the pronunciations were so bad

Please do a Madeleine Mccann one!

this sounds like it could be a darker plot for hot fuzz

Sup people Icelander here

Shane : *been to Iceland before* Shane : You know, I'm somewhat of a genius about Iceland

Guys, come on over and do some stories "on-site". We have some really good stuff for you; ghosts, trolls, other mysteries and much more. Ryan, you did the names spot-on, have a try with Eyjafjallajökull, you could crack it. See'ya :)

yikes

Nobody: Shane: oooooh I went there it’s beautiful

Can we just appreciate Ryan’s pronunciations of these names

please try to cover about the infamous Poughkeepsie Tapes

"about once a year we do a murder" maybe full outlawry is still a thing?

To shay

https://youtu.be/69TEtVE84AQ

Hell yeah Reno for life. Finally someone notice us.

Murder heads...I like the sound of that

You're welcome for #2 on trending.

Icelandic police:oh yeah we'll lock the guy up in solitary just until he confesses A few days later.. Suspect:I confess! so can I get out of solitary now? Police:NO!MORE SOLITARY!MUAHAHAHAAAAAAHA!

suspect: yes police: solitary confinement!

100/100 to Ryan for pronouncing Hafnarfjörður right!

As soon as he said albert I was like ALBERTSSTUFF NO

You guys should do the mystery of Harris Burdick!!

You guys should look into the Mexican JFK assassination equivalent, the Luis Donaldo Colosio murder, and it actually happened close to you guys, in Tijuana Baja California, the story is insane!

For Postmortem: So do you guys think this is a situation where the entirety of Iceland is in on some kind of elaborate cult and they do a couple of crimes a year, just to make themselves look normal, but as soon as there’s a crime that’s not orchestrated by themselves, they go berserk and play the blame game? Love you guys!!! #shaniac #boogarasarecool

To be quite honest, I wanna visit Iceland after all of Shane's babbling...

for post mortem: can police force people to remember something that isn't true. Was it forced confabulation?

PLEASE GO TO SAN FRANCISO AND TOUR THE ALCATRAZ WHICH IS THE INFAMOUS PRISON!!!

im literally dying of curiosity thinking where did they go really

4 episodes a week?!! this is my lucky week!!

Confession reminds me of cersie's confession

wait... they have the same last name.. they aren't related?

of course they aren’t related! Icelandic last names don’t work the same way ours do! they’re patronymic, meaning that they’re named after their father. for ex. Markus Persson aka Notch, son of Pers. etc

Yah I remember this story.

I love the pronunciations in this episode

Your BEST comparison of population is from Reno from 9 years ago??

So wait if disappearances were so common. What made those 2 disappearances so special ??

All hail The Watcher!

0:16 is Shane's hand bleeding?? :(

They all want to copy the american serial killers

IceLandic people: saw two men carrying a weakened man Also IceLandic people: oh, okay

4 videos in 1 week and it's my birth week ! thanks for the gift, watcher ! ALL HAIL THE WATCHER :--D

I think it was Ghufnremdr or Gjurfinrdhggt.

Why are they treating this like some kind of sitcom?

Hey my name is Mummi and I live here in Iceland. Please don’t be making jokes about the guðmundur disappearing it’s a very sensitive story here in iceland

For postmortem: What if the icelandic police did the murder of the two or someone involve in there? Maybe that's why they keep forcing a confession from them despite their blurry memories of the said murder to cover up their own sht?

all hail the watcher, baby

hahahahahah, the way you guys pronounce names an places :D

Do a true crime on the disappearance of madeleine mccann

Three words: in a grove

Does it bother no one that the dialogue does not use capital letters at all?

For the #PostMortem : I guess it's a matter of perspective, but do you think people in Iceland could have been "disappeared" for The Greater Good??? Shane going on about Iceland's renowned beauty and the kindness of its population, and then you tell us it's a place where, while murders are very rare, disappearances are not, hmmm... just makes you wonder. (PS: love you guys

Could you do the mystery of Sweeney Todd??

nobody: literally nobody: shane: so when i was in iceland—

You didn't butcher their Icelandic names, which is the hardest in the world to pronounce... good job!

Hwaseong Serial Murders need some investigating. This and the Frog Boys Incident.

"I can't remember that night... OMG I MUST BE A MURDERER!"

A clear violation of human rights..

Ever thought of doing Bear Brook Murders, or the Allenstown four?

Ciesielski is not Icelandic. The surnames for girls in Iceland end with dottr. For guys it''s son

Wait, so people go missing all the time in Iceland and yet they didn't have a missing person task force set up? How does that make sense?

Some “fun” facts related to this case: Erla at one point implicated her brother and he still doesn’t talk to her to this day. Geirfinnur had a brother who went missing a year before Geirfinnur was born, his brother was 3 at the time. My grandparents were friends with Geirfinnur and I think they were actually questioned by the cops at the time of his disappearance, I wish I could ask them about it because this case has always fascinated me but my dad has forbidden me from doing that

I'm waiting for the Madeline McCann case. boys hurry up on that one

So people just casually forget that they murdered someone?

You guys should do murder mysteries of Asia!! It would be really cool!!

get you a guy who looks at you like shane when he looks at ryan waiting for his reaction after cracking a joke.

@postmortem #post mortem what if the two men on the road were einarsson and einarsson? Maybe they met in the bar, drank a little and both had the idea of leaving reykjavik?

Aside from you know, all the murdering and pillaging, this is not a proud Icelandic moment...

The disappearance of Boris Weisfeiler would make a good video, many possible explanations there.

Can you make an episode on The Dyatlov pass?

Im in Iceland an crimes happen like 2 time a year

Icelandic names are not linear, they are mostly patronymic, so Einarsson means son of Einar, therefore both men had a father who was named Einar, so if Gudmundur had lived and had a son his surname would be Gudmundurson, if he had a girl her surname would Gudmundurdottir

Same thing in GITMO, innocent kids are tortured by sadists who get off on inflicting pain, into telling lies, confessing to things they didn't do. SHUT IT DOWN,

This is more horrifying than the actual crimes, I hope they actually committed the crimes because if any of them were innocent that would be horrible

Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray Maura Murray please

Honestly just here for the comments section

So, big props for you trying to say their names.... I'm wondering how many takes you had to do because It's so hard to follow with those names sometimes!

So you're telling me, disappearances were incredibly common in Iceland, yet they felt no need to have a missing persons task force? Okay...

I love how the ad I had on the video was about visiting iceland . Yes advertisements, I'll go to Iceland just for the fields and the decomposing bodies!

Its 12 am.. woops

WOOOOO MORE TRUE CRIMES!

Ryan: pronounces Icelandic names perfectly Also ryan: stumbles off llorona

Bruh I just *_cant_* stop watching these

For the #postmortem, have you guys gotten your avengers endgame tickets yet? I heard people were selling them online for $2500 in LA! Wild

I knew it. Shane is too laid back. He's a pothead isn't he? Lol. #Ryaniac

You need to do a Madeline McCann episode

Can you investigate some school unsolved cases.

Its 2:00am

Hello BuzzFeed! I am a real true fan from Philippines, I've watched all of your uploaded videos including ghost hunts and Q and A's. I would just like to suggest that you cover the unsolved case here in Philippines about the mysterious case of Pepsi Paloma, an actress that died not knowing the real reason if she was raped or committed suicide. There was a song that a band wrote relating to the case but still no one knows the real reason. I'm looking forward to this. Thanks and More videos to come! :) All Hail the Watcher!

Witch-hunting

That was torture

Not many things can make me laugh after a 16 hour shift...you guys are two of the things

We don't have many murders here, just many missing people that have never been found.

2.3 million subs. 2.2 million views in two days. That's pretty sweet.

The *real* crime here is the physical and psychological torture of these six people.

I'm in love with Ryan.. he's probably straight :(

Entertaining-yet-vapid. Quintessential Buzzfeed. Dear Buzzfeed: Give up on political "journalism" and focus more on this type of content.

for post mortem: why then would there be no missing people task force if disappearances weren't uncommon and was even frequent at one point in their history

We have a dedicated Search and Rescue department that regularly works with the Police and Coast Guard but if we can't find someone then we just can't find them. We are a low populated country with more mountains, rivers, valleys, creeks, nooks and crannies than we can count. If you really wanna hide a body somewhere in the highlands or you fall into a crevice somewhere. The chances are you'll never be found. So top tip. If you wanna go mountain hiking somewhere then either go with a group of people or tell someone where exactly you're going and roughly when you'll be back.

What if the killer was someone in the police department. They could just be looking for scapegoats and force 'confessions' out of them to appease the court.

no one: literally no one: shane: *iceland story* All jokes aside, love you guys! & good job with the names, Ryan.

You should do conspiracies of 9/11

Iceland got some European ww2 names

Would love to see a video on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann

#postmortem what ended up happening to eria bolladóttir's daughter? is she still alive? what are her thoughts on the case?

So wait you saw your friend trying to hatch a ride and you don’t stop...tf

You guys should do the Father’s Day Bank Massacre

ALL HAIL THE WATCHER

I think it's funny this came out the same day my psychology teacher started teaching about Pseudo memories (false memories) . The way a person may ask a question can make a big influence. Do you guys think there should have been justice for those days they were in solitary confinement? P.s I love you guys ! #postmortem

My closed caption couldn't even keep up with him

The Emmy goes to Ryan for killing saying the names of the people in this tale

No one: Icelandic police: *Solitary confinement*

But those names though

For post mortem: Do this guy SERIOUSLY not ask for a lawyer?!?!?!?! If he did the detectives would legally have to let him go. #AllHailTheWatcher

All said they killed someone #AllHailTheWatcher

The suspicios truth of Five Nights At Freddys?

As an Icelandic person, my favorite thing is listening to people trying to pronounce Icelandic names and places. There truly isn’t anything better.

They should do a video about the amityville haunting Who else agrees?

Can you make an investigation about 8 Feet Tall/ Hachishakusama?

“gonna turn iceland into greenland, baby” HAHAHAHAHA idk why but i’m laughing at this

Plays LOFI MUSIC RAPIDLY

oh, it was in the 1970s... makes sense

4:13

Can you please do the Dennis Martin case. It's incredibly unsettling and very suspicious, but more people need to know about it!

Do the "chiong sister case" next

GO TO CRYBABY BRIDGE

no one: literally not a single soul: shane: Have I mentioned that I went to Iceland???

Can you guys cover the Villisca Axe Murder House? I stayed the night at that house, and it is creepy as hell. It can be a True Crime/Supernatural crossover

Y’all need to cover the unsolved murders of Shane Stewart and Sally Mcnelly in San Angelo Texas!!! https://unsolved.com/gallery/sally-mcnelly-shane-stewart/

If you put him in solitary for 7 days he will confess to wearing womens underwear.

why the heck did they not just do the lie detector earlier? i'm pretty sure this entire thing would have been done in just a few months. smh disappointed at iceland 1975

Erlas baby has the same birthday as me

These names are so freaking long Idek who’s who

lmaaaooo same I've watched this video at least three times and I'm still confused because of all the names

Ayyyye shout out Reno

erla: *gets put in solitary confinement* erla: damn. all hail the watcher

They just agreed to the police hoping they will free them for their cooperation but all they got is solitary confinement. Solitary confinement begun making them think they are guilty.

“Gonna turn Iceland into Greenland!” Omg, lolololol!!!

Is anyone else thrown off with Ryan’s weird Iceland accent? Like it sounds like after saying the names for so long that he kind of developed the accent through the whole video lmao

All this False Memory Syndrome stuff reminds me of Brendan Dassey

#45 on trending street

Hey, there's this one really interesting case that I was hoping you could solve. Could you address why Ash never ages in Pokemon? I'm pretty sure it's one of the stranger mysteries.

All these foreign names are really confusing me

Please do the Australian Chamberlain "Dingo" case. It's unsolved and drags out really long with lots of potential theories, perfect for an episode.

Give Ryan an award for pronouncing these names lol

Next madeleine mccan

Did they ever think that it could’ve been someone just visiting the country? Btw I’m def a shaniac when it’s the true crime series but boogara for supernatural altho hey demons it’s your boy is hilarious!

Considering how many times Ryan's forced Shane into dark rooms for hours, I'm surprised he hasn't broken down and admitted ghosts are real. Jk, #shaniac for realz.

Next you should do the murder of Jonbenet Ramsey

Thank God I live in America

Anyone playing the buzzfeed drinking game.... with the amount of (wheezes) alone you're fucked lads

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is exactly why the whole "confessions taken from torture are invalid" is a thing. I don't believe any of these confessions are true, and they were all created in an attempt to get out of solitary confinement (something I would absolutely attempt suicide for after a long enough amount of time). The true horror story of this video is the inhumane cruelty of the Icelandic police force during this time, jfc.

i wanted to message you guys but i don’t know how!! YALL need to explore the myrtles plantation house in St.francisville louisiana. you can stay the night and it is veryyyyy haunted! i would love to see an episode of this!

You guys should do one on Gianni Versace's death and go to Florida to his home which is now a hotel!

Buzzfeed unsolved is the only good thing to ever come from buzzfeed

Ryan is so attractive to me

Y'all !!!!!!! Come to The Grand Hotel in Mackinaw Island Michigan!!! Literally so haunted and beautiful and scary plz come

Just another example of how police abuse of suspects can create false confessions. Hearing about cases like this is so frustrating, especially since police still use these practices. The solitary confinement bit is just terrifying tbh

HEY! Can y'all make a video on "The Secret: A Tresure Hunt." and test a solve for one of the gems! That would be awesome!!!

#postmortem: I think 'murderheads' is a bit strong. what about bunniez (buzzfeed unsolved... bunn-iez?)?

#postmortem #bunniez

My heart hurts for these people abused by the system, forever changed.

Pascualita.

Can we get an episode about the assassination of Gen. Antonio Luna

@2:39 That's what she said.

for post mortem: how is Erla being charged for perjury if she confessed under duress? isn’t anything she said basically invalidated because it was all forced from torture? or is her perjury charge unrelated

Oh my lord PLEASE (if you haven't already) do a video determining if Vlad Dracul The Impaler is Dracula

yes!!!

Wow Ryan did pretty good with those pronunciations! Also, question for Shane, what was the best part of your trip to Iceland?

what happened to the detectives/interrogators that tortured the “suspects”?

for post mortem

Definitely recommend coming to Gettysburg for some real ghost experiences!

This is #42 on trending

AWH I’m so happy they mentioned Reno lmao idk why but no one ever talks about us :(

Nobody: Shane: when I was in Iceland—

I love that Shane's just there for commentary and Ryan's there to lay out the facts and case

american names: bob, jon, alex icelandic names: goose-moon-bear

“Gonna turn Iceland into Greenland baby!”

Ryan’s pronunciation of all those Icelandic names was STAGGERINGLY impressive. Bravo, sir!

Please subscribe to pewdiepie, and keep individual content on top

BUZZFEED UNSOLVED SUGGESTION: you should do the death of james calendar. nobody knows for sure if he was murdered in 1803 and thrown into the james river, or if one of the founding fathers murdered him due to a grudge and threw him into the james river. it is unsolved.

Not that I miss it (I don't) what the hell happened to the hot daga?!?!?!?!?!

P

#murderhead 4 life

Video Idea: The recent disappearance of Dennis Day, a man who starred in Disney's original Micky Mouse Club in the 1950s, and the UNIDENTIFIED HUMAN REMAInS FOUND IN HIS HOME and the odd fact that hiS HUSBAND CAN'T REMEMBER A THING

About once a year we will do a murder

When is the Jersey Devil gonna be covered?? Maybe other cryptids too like a trip to go see the Loch Ness monster or the Chupacabra!

5:05 I'm surprised Shane let them film his stash

where was it that Shane went to last year again?? Does anybody know? I wish he’d talked more about it.

Aliens

I'm literally LMAO! You're pronouncing every Icelandic word wrong!

Postmortem: I’m down for being a ‘ murder head’ it’s a fitting name for this particular fan base

and this is why i wanna do a research paper on false confessions so bad!!

You guys should do one at the Glenn Dale Haunted Hospital!

The Blair Witch

Buzzfeed Unsolved really said 1312 huh

I RECON IT WAS DEM DER ALIENS!

At the beginning I had an add for the trailer Llorona

The unsolved guys and the try guys are the only ones keeping buzzfeed alive, but the try guys left. Happy they started their own company. Good work boys and well done to the crew and staff

Do the Monster of Florence next!

As much as I dislike Buzzfeed, this is one of the only good things they make

Can we talk about how the names from Iceland just sound like baby gibberish?

Please do a Madeline McCann investigation!!

You guys should do one on the deaths of sid and nacy

Hey Shane... Instead of "murder heads" why not "killer bees" for "Buzz"feed unsolved.

(for post mortem) why wouldn't Gudmundur's friends who saw him hitching a ride just pull over and help him out? also keep up the good work!#shaniac #boogara #ghostsarentreal

Do one on the John gaslie clown case please

why do all these names sound like someone sneezing? no offence meant but likeeeee still

The police should have sent them to the ranch

Did anyone else notice the creepy figure behind Shane?!

Love the show! Have you guys considered doing podcasts?

DO MADELEINE MCCANN

Ryan, how many times did you have to practice saying all these names?

i think i'd confess to anything u want after hours n hours n hours of questionning ... cant imagine what those poor souls went thru .... didn't the icelandic police know anythg about forced confessions? idiots....

Hello! Huge fan, hope you guys read this. You should do a episode about Sture Bergwall/Thomas Quick. He is a swedish man who clamied to have murdered alot of people but later took it all back.

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network @Post Mortem Do you think that the ‘missing people’ were murder cases that the Icelandic police hadn’t solved and maybe they needed a case to pin some murders to so they didn’t look extremely incompetent?

me: all hail the watcher Iceland: solitary confinement

Try the stoneman for the next episode

Unsolved is quickly becoming a favourite series of mine, really excellent work, best wishes to all involved

Do madeline mccann

You guys should look into the case of Lauren Spierers.

ohh??? this was uploaded on my birthday???? what a birthday gift then

#postmortem Shane, do you hate the spirit box so much because you are a demon?#shaniac #boogarasarestillrelevant

Isn't it obvious what happened to those two guys? Classic case of alien abduction.

No one: Shane: did you guys know I went to Iceland?

ey I have ideas for new episodes: Lead Mask Case Springfield Three 2001 Anthrax Attacks Walker family

Okay but what if it was ALIENS

And how about the poor baby

For the post Mortem: if you solve a mystery, will you change the series name? It's an important question that's caused fights between many I know

there's a movie about this case on netflix, 'out of thin air.' it's really good but it's also heartbreaking, because it goes more into the lifelong effect of the mental abuse these people suffered. for some of them, their lives were absolutely ruined.

Nobody: Not a single soul: Not even my sleep paralysis demon: ICELAND POLICE: "SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!!!!!"

what about 'The Wallace Case', the death of Julia Wallace, seems interesting..

The case name looks like you just typed it with your eyes closed look i could do it! Shrnzgsj how did I do

Can you please do an episode about the Miami Showband Killing/Massacre?

Idk if u have already done this but you should look into the Madeleine McCann case

You should go to the Bisbee hotel I think there is a ghost tour

#poatmortum how do u guys decide what your going to investigate? Do u take turns picking?

Hwaseong serial murders case please

Alcohol, checkbooks, and CANDLES??

do Paco Larrañaga's case in Philippines please

dunno if you'll see this, but you should do an episode on Bela Kiss! Creepy Hungarian serial killer who disappeared, very unnerving, very intriguing, very unsolved

They probably all went crazy for staying there for years

@ 10:14 ryan has voice crack and i quote: "QuOtE"

"quote. maybe. end quote."

"Alcohol, candles, and checkbooks" candles

Is no one gonna mention the vibrator in that bed when they removed the sheet in the pic

You should cover the Iguala mass kidnapping. I haven't seen a lot of YouTubers talk about this so far and it needs to be talked about.

this just in: BFU fans now called - murderheads

You should let Shane present the next case

Ryan: Says Icelandic words correctly. But can't say February. Sorry! Love you guys so much! #boogara

You guys should go to the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Georgia

please do the lady of the lake in washington!!

I know this topic would be really hard but i think buzzfeed unsolved should shed light onto the Sewol ferry tragedy there’s so much that went without explaining such as the cause of the boat mysteriously sinking but also why they didn’t do anything to rescue the kids

I get that there isn't much crime in Iceland but if people disappear regularly there why wouldn't there be a missing persons squad? even if they don't think it's related to a crime isn't it worth it to have something in place to solve these disappearances?

We want more aliens and ghost !!#ghosts#aliens#hotdoga

favorite part of the video was ryan saying all the names

It reminds me of the Alctaraz Solitary Confinement. For #Postmortem, what happened to the laws existing today in Iceland? How does it work nowadays? Rules for anyone to receive solitary confinement should be clearer by now.

The sad part in this is that no one will ever know what really happened to the missing men because the police spent so much time messing with wrong suspects.

For anyone curious about similar cases, watch confession tapes on Netflix. It’s really eye opening

For Post Mortem: Can we just get some commentary just how flawed, awful, and outdated certain prison and investigation practices are? Like, even polygraphs (lie detectors) can be tricked and were pseudoscience to begin with. (Did my research with the help of Adam Ruins Everything)

Check out "Disappearance of the Beaumont children". Another Aussie one thats remained unsolved. They not so long ago dug up a neighbourhood on an anonymous tip and found nothing new. P.S. It's pronounced Bath-hurst, not Bat-hurst. P.P.S. Glenelg is a palindrome and the only other one I've ever heard of is on Mars.

*No one:* *Absolutely nobody:* *Shane:* *_"ICeLAnD"_*

can't do this, my brain isn't working because of SATs and this is very confusing to my simple mind

The kidnaping of Heather Teague

do an unsolved on cary stayner

peep the voice crack 10:15

Lindberg Baby! Do the Lindbergs!

I thought the reason to get rubber sheets would be cum-related lmao

I lose it every time Ryan says a name

I love the fact that instead of a sketch they make a sculpture of the guy's face and carry it around showing it to people

For the post-mortem: What if the two men who disappeared were actually lovers who ran off to start a new life together? And they did it ten months apart so no one would be suspicious of them?

i'm literally watching this the day before my friend goes to Iceland and i'm scared for her

when Americans can't say Reykjavík right :/ Edit: They can't say a single word right.

What was the act mentioned in this video??

Can you please do an episode on the Loch Ness monster?

You guys should do Jonestown Massacare

Iceland is just Germany,but Colder.

Is it weird that I had a school assignment on capital city of Iceland...comes up in my recommended

#BuzzfeedUnsolved101 Cops are really bad at doing their jobs (because they're corrupt).

Me : *ALL HAIL THE WATCHER !!* Icelandic Police : He seems like a stable guy. I don't think there's any need for solitary confinement.

when in doubt, CONFINEMENT.

I actually went to Iceland and stayed in Reykjavik for about 5 days in January, didn't get to see the Northern Lights but this is super cool to hear about!

Do an episode on the murder of Evandro that happened in 1992, in Brasil. It’s a really really really strange case. People were declared guilty, but there are lots of facts that put he charges on doubt. It would be awesome to see you guys talking about it.

literally no one: iceland police: SOLITARY CONFINEMENT

Do one on Madeline Mcann

im from ice land : )

You guys should do Sacco and Vanzetti next!

I live in Iceland

Ohhh, everything about Erla... it just screams poor management. I've taken ONE class on witness psychology, and this (as you're describing it) was just so poorly done that it's literally what you're taught in lesson one not to do. Never ask leading questions. Don't mess with their memories. Never threaten the victim.

all the names sound like keysmashes

Love how Shane wanted a usual suspects joke but was denied by ryan

Pls do some Indian unsolved cases.

Never thought I'd miss the "wheeze"

I really liked this episode. I feel like I should travel to Iceland to walk the fields and solve this myself.

These names are funny

It's the Terminator, schizophrenics, and an alien Lind controlling people to act suspicious

ryan: Shane: when i was in iceland...

You should do one over area 51

Does anybody else find it ironic that the name of the town sounds like “wreak havoc”?

*SOLITARY CONFINEMENT*

Plot twist, the police did it

I totally understand that it can be really hard to pronounce scandinavian words, but I just can't manage myself. It's entetainment on it's best when non scandics are trying to pronounce "our" words :)

There are some ppl who enjoys pushing people into the water late at night on pay day. Drunk ppl lose their orientation under water. Several cases of this in Sweden.

Iceland into Greenland

Ryan, go to Iceland. It is absolutely breath-taking... and they still believe in faeries and trolls there. I'm sure you could do an episode for the supernatural series!

And how come these people were convicted without any apparent motive. Plus the victim that went into a cafe, how did nobody see him inside the cafe?

maybe they didn’t report it because they didn’t want to get put in solitary confinement? idk, but i love you guys

So I’m from Iceland and it’s so fucked up listening to u say those Icelandic names like for example Guðmundur Einarsson. But any way good job

maybe until now they still have low rate of crimes cos of the way they solve crimes

If disappearances were so common on Iceland, then why were the police so eager to assume/prove these two cases were murder?

Erla hormonal imbalance would also be completely off due to her just having a child.

Even just solitary alone is torture, jesus christ

this confession reminds me of the Salem Witch Trials. The case of the blame game b/c they were being tortured.

you guys should cover the disappearance of Harold Holt, he was an Australian Prime Minister who went swimming one day and just never reappeared and his body was never found

honestly if i was kept in solitude for days and days id even confess for a crime i didn't commit just to get outta there

Can you do one season of SOLVED where you talk about Ted Bundy,Jeffrey Dahmer and such. I think that would be so cool.

All Hail The Watcher

This is honestly one of the most confusing true crime episodes I've ever watched...

I live in Reykjavik and when my car was stolen they didn't even jail the people who stole it. We got our car back full of needles and they went about their lives.

Japans 300 million yen robbery would be interesting

*sponsored by Greenland*

Could you cover the murder of the Swedish prime minister Olof Palme?

Moreeeee videos!

Why does Shane’s look different in every single unsolved video. he goes looking 20 to 35 and I honestly think he’s an alien

no one's commenting on the fact that erla fought a conviction of perjury for _decades?_

Can you guys make a video regarding the Mysterious Voynich Manuscript?

Nobody: Shane: IN ICELAND!!!

what a horrible miscarriage of justice

THESE NAMES WOW.

tbh i want them to do an ep on the jersey devil, seems pretty interesting

do you guys reckon shane went to iceland?

I would love to see an episode on the St. Valentines Day Massacre.

10/10 would Stefan Karl again.

All of this would be SOOOOOO illegal in the U.S. Yikes.

This doesnt seem suspicious at all this just seems like abuse

You guys should do the case on the Texas chainsaw massacre

This is truly weird, and yet he did not make it home. Jeremiah 1:5 New King James Version (NKJV) 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified[a] you; I [b]ordained you a prophet to the nations.” So do not let the evil voices snuff out your life by getting you to see only the debt, enemies, bully’s, sin, problems, and/or self-hatred. You are more than a conqueror! Life has ups and downs. Remember, if you are at the bottom, you can only go up from here. Do not listen to the voice that suggests death. For death is not of God, it is a lie from the enemy to suggest a quiet place, a grave, but God says, 15 “Look, today I have set before you life and death, depending on whether you obey or disobey. 16 I have commanded you today to love the Lord your God and to follow his paths and to keep his laws, so that you will live and become a great nation, and so that the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to possess.

5:20 I'm 100% sure neither of these two have every been around anybody whos smoked weed in their entire lives

I can’t stand the lottery story

Isn't this why Arthur Miller wrote the Crucible?

aliens.

For the Postmortem- so, this is more a question about the show in general, not really this specific episode, but anyway- how do you guys pick the cases in your true crime episodes and the places you go to in your supernatural episodes? (This is totally not the reason I’m asking but there’s a spoopy theater in town that’s supposedly haunted and like

Do the hinterkaifek murders again in a longer series. That's the most interesting thing EVER!

I feel like Iceland is in denial about how many murders they have...

And everybody wants to hate on American cops.. go to Iceland, and humble yourselves

AMOS Don_dolphins

"Ertla"

I'm impressed. Not only did Ryan make a solid effort to try to pronounce these names correctly (whether he did or not is beside the point - he clearly tried and didn't stumble over them), but there also was not a single f-bomb dropped this episode, or any cursing for that matter. These two guys are my favorite, but they do have horrible potty mouths. I'm a terrible potty mouth myself, so that made me even more impressed with it. Lol. I also love the cassette holder that's on the desk next to Shane holding the books and old phone. We used to have one of those drawer-holders a long time ago and I never thought I'd see another one. That's neat.

Sometimes we do a mirder

Lets learn icelandic!! Hi my name is (your name) Icelandic: hæ ég heiti (nafnið þitt) Hi Icelandic: hæ Bye Icelandic: bæ Im tired Icelandic: ég er þreitt(ur) Comment if you want to learn more! (Btw i didnt use google translate)

But Ryan can’t pronounce February?.....smh xD

Ryan: Flawlessly pronounces “Gudjon Skarphadinsson” and “Saevar Ciesielski” *cant pronounce la llorona*

#murderheads

Skin walker canyon??

I literally can’t keep track of who’s who bc the names all sound the same

I don’t know why they just don’t use their real pictures.... it’s public knowledge.

I try not to watch these cuz then I get extremely paranoid and really depressed but like I love these and they aren’t the SOUL reason I get depressed so oh well

Anyone on Earth: Shane: You know Ive been to Iceland

you guys should do the Madeleine McCann disappearance

THEY WERE DRUNK! BECAUSE WHEN UR DRUNK U USALLY CANT REMBER WHAT HAPPENS WHEN U COME OUT OF UR INNER DRUNKEN SIDE o.O

Creep

anyone from Iceland: h- police: solitary confinement

For the Postmortem- So I never have bedsheets on my bed. Does that mean I’m a murderer?

They literally forced confessions from all of them. It would be possible for none of them to be involved. All of their "memories" could be their imagination.

My Lord the police in Iceland make the United States justice system look like a kiddie bounce house.

I am icelandic and i mnow of one murder that happened last year where a teenage girl dissapeared and was found murdered

i hope these people get an apology and reimbursement from the government for psychological torture. this is such disgusting treatment and they weren't even convicted of anything yet

Where’s the freaking Netflix series???!!!!!

Solitary confinement can do some real damage on the kind and then the torturing. Not saying that they aren’t bad people, but that is a little too cruel on the torturing

but why did the people want to kill the 2 guys??

i went to iceland last year too, and i completely agree with shane in the beginning. iceland felt like heaven

You need to do a video about the Maude Crawford case!

can y'all cover the unsolved murder of Olof Palme?

I’m a huge fan of you guys, and also a huge punk fan. I’m not sure if y’all have done it yet, but maybe try the story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, or Kurt Cobain’s alleged suicide/possible homicide.

Solve the murderous butchering of the Icelandic names (Also we love you, Shane)

Ryan Skype with someone in Iceland to learn how to pronounce the names , how commited is he!!!

You're butchering the names, man x'D

May I suggest you do the Beth Doe case from 1976?

#postmortem did they just make her have suggested memories?

I want to see an episode on Albert Fish so bad but I’m not sure if they do cases like him rip

Question for Post Mortem- Have there been any reparations, or law suits brought by the people tortured into false confessions?

https://youtu.be/YvRbUUYdVgI You guys need to do conspiracy theories on missing Macadventures you tubers and Area 51!!!

I GOT BACK FROM A TRIP TO ICELAND 2 DAYS AGO NOT EVEN KIDDING WTF SPOOKY

Iceland's police discovers that if they psychologically torture anyone enough, they'll confess to anything

hi from iceland

Me:"Good Morning Officer." Icelandic Police:"Solitary Confinement!"

wow! all cops sure ARE bastards huh!

It's really hard to have any suspicions for me because I can't trust any of the suspects at all given how they were coerced and tortured. Which would also make it hard to come back to now and try to solve it. At best, maybe an amateur diver could look for the body underwater?

*I wonder how squishy a brain is*

I’m in AP World and we were talking about the Tiananmen Square protest, and I remember people talking about this but I was heavily interested in the Tank Man disappearances

Please !! Go to the Warren Occult Museum ! We need to know if the doll is real!!

"Gonna turn Iceland into Greenland Baby"

Lets go denmark

Go to the Annabelle doll place

PLEASE DO THE OURANG MEDAN CAASE!!!!!!!!

Can you guys do Elisa Lam?

Police officer: Your name sir? Guy: iogipjferopskrojusdson Police officer: Alright then maybe solitary will refresh your memory

#postmortem I once read that in 6 hours, you can be concinced you committed a certain crime. I believe that's why they gave false confessions. Also, could you cover the case of de bende van Nijvel? It's an unsolved case about a group of criminals that committed various crimes in Belgium. There has been a movie made about it, and I really would like to know your opinions on the case!

There is a documentary called 'Out of Thin Air' which is all about these confessions and murders. It's available on UK Netflix - you should give it a watch if this interested you!

For post mortem, i have a important question. where is the hot daga?

Why is no one talking about the people who saw their friend drunk stumbling in the snow on the side of the road, and were like “okay chill.” And just left him? Fake friends

A history of school shootings

*Like or Na*

do a video on manuelita dejos pierce. crazy

New BUN case to cover: Why Shane will not answer Ryan’s question about the rubber sheets.

Can you investigate the Mary Ellen Tanner case? (The Girl on the Bridge)

So I think the boys should go to a haunted house and just see how much hunting real ghosts has prepared them

hey the mystery was solved It was Icelandic cops committing crimes against humanity

I’m icelandic, I never knew these.

Please do Oscar Pistorius and Henri van Breda murders in True Crime!

The disappearance of Madeline McCann is a mystery that would be great to see

For post mortem: how many takes did it take to shoot ryan saying all the names at 12 08

You should check out the danish case of Emilie Meng. It's tragic but also extremely interesting.

Leo Frank and Mary Phagan pls!! It baffles me

The murder of Mary Phagan pls!!!

I'd love to see you both tackle the mystery about Mark Adams escaping San Quentin prison in 1986.

At what time comes the new epsiode?

Reykjavik is pronounced Ray-ka-Vic (like Victoria)

I love this show

im icelandic and they way he says reykjavík

the way he says guðmundur- gOoThmOoNduR

Who would have thought that "Albert" would be the least comical of all the names?

Plz visit haunted Maggie Maggie bridge...PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

"turn Iceland into Greenland" best line in the whole video lmao

I’m watching this at 12:30 probably won’t sleep

Ayyy, I'm from Iceland and currently live in Reykjavik Also the pronunciations were painful to listen to, good try though

I kinda wanna see them come to Portland and Investigate the Kyron Horman case. He's been on my mind lately.

Can you do marilyn monroe

My friend just made me realize that Ryan and Shane is just an iconic pair of duo names. Shane Dawson and Ryan Adams. Our goul Bois... Conspiracy??

They're the "Problem Unsolvers”

Madeleine McCann pleaseee

Really appreciated the effort put into proper pronunciation in this! It's refreshing to see foreign words/names spoken well rather than butchered

I am from Iceland and I have NEeeEevErr heard of this. Can’t wait to watch this.

whats bun

“he was told he’d drown if he didn’t confess.” wow i wonder why they confessed

Easily my 2 favourite YouTubes, together Ryan and Shane work amazing together and are so entertaining xxxx

Do you think you could make one of Edgar Allan Poe’s death

okay but when he says "geirfinnur" it sounds like a reversed phrase. I don't know what phrase, but it does.

AYYY THE BOYS ARE BACK

Solitary confinement is torture.

I think they were gay and were together but couldn't bear telling their spouses/family so they just disappeared at different times The phone call was what gave it away

Isn't there a Netflix show loosely based on this?

nobody : shane and Ryan : *(wheeze)*

*(wheeze)*

You guys should go to the Stanley hotel.

I have some stories that happend in reykjavík. Comment on this comment and i’ll show u :v

*NO ONE EXPECTS ICELANDIC SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!*

If there are so many disappearances in Iceland, why do they not have a missing persons task force????

Cieselski isn’t an Icelandic last name, that’s pretty interesting

4:53 so awkward.

Hello :) How about this case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brabant_killers, de Bende van Nijvel ?

I bet 5$ that iceland is the most *safest* country in the world

Nein, Es ist Kopenhagen

An old grudge over carrots and the grandchildren swore to avenge their carrots but they lost the blood line and had to kill them all

Next unsolved video should be about Madeleine McCann

19:12 remember me, tho I have to say goodbye~

11:28 basically breaking bad lmao

It’s funny you mentioned the lottery because I was in a play for it. Also I have a cousin that all of a sudden disappeared and no one knows what happened

quick question, why not use the real photos of these people if this is all public information anyways? I feel like that would make these videos that much more creepy lol

do a bonnie and clyde

false confessions, for sure.

The mannequin behind Shane always freaks me out every time I see it

Iceland is or used to be known for low crime. BUT, they don't include disappearances in their crime statistics. There probably have been several serial killers operating there over the past decades and decades. It is easy for people to disappear voluntarily and commit suicide without being found there, but that means it is also easy for murderers to hide their crimes there too. Also, Iceland likes to brag about low rates of Down Syndrome babies and handicapped babies being born there, but that is because they promote and advocate for those babies to be aborted before birth. So statistics don't tell the whole story. Sure Iceland sounds like a paradise on paper to some people, but when you delve deeper you will see that really Iceland is no different than many other countries and has many crimes, they are just not found out about due to the type of land and environment they have there. Sure many people who have disappeared probably died by suicide or by natural elements due to the weather and other hazardous conditions there, but some of them probably were murdered also. Iceland loves to tout their low crime rates for tourism money but they are not a crime free perfect paradise. One of the main reasons Iceland has lower crime rates is also that they have low immigration rates. Hmmm. Maybe if we want the USA to have safer cities we should consider that? :)

MH370 please!

do the villisca axe murders!!!

Most of these cases are only unsolved because the police have no idea what tf they're doing

iceland is amazing, i went there too!!! have to agree with whatever Shane had to say about the people. they were all so nice and welcoming.

How have they still not done Madeleine McCann?

See I have to question all those disappearances. They say there's like one murder a year....but just accept that people just go missing and its just not from murder? Unless I misunderstood what Ryan was saying, just seemed like two and two weren't being put together by Iceland.

Are shadowed faces that you show for the people their real identical faces or just random faces

Sævar Ciesielski was terrified of water, that's why the tortured him by putting his head sink of water.

Okay I'm sorry but how did two of his friends, NOT stop and pick them up if they we're there friends that doesn't make any sense to me they just drove and keep doing

The. An in the back at 3:03 freaked me The heck out

When Shane said like "murder lottery" reminds me of a short story I had to read in English, the short of the story is a small town gathers up and does this lottery thing one person from each family picks a piece of paper and what ever family has the paper with the dot gets chosen then they put the paper with a dot on it back in the box shuffle it and make the whole family pick a piece of paper and who ever has the dot this time gets stoned to death by the whole town for like a sacrifice

Someone give Ryan a medal for pronouncing all those names

Come on, the way he pronounced these names and places was funny...but he did well considering how difficult Icelandic is.

*Police Officer asking his Crush out* Police: So,do you accept me as your date? Girl: Yes. Police: I have never got that answer, To Jail You Go.

Girl: *Pikachu face*

So....we're not talking about how that guy just randomly steals CANDLES??? Like....how....why??

Out of all of buzzfeed this creates the least amount of buzz, but is the most accurate, and intriguing sub section of buzzfeed. Good on these two guys.

Just because your police are incompetent doesn’t mean Iceland is a safe place with no murders

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqKdEhx-dD4

I just want to say ...ryans voice with his unique accent is soooo good pronouncing all those Icelandic names lol ohhh i loved it! Especially Erla

Can someone love me as much as Shane loves Iceland

Oh yeah, that's the green light, baby. Fire up that room again. 10:25

They should investigate Jon Benet

wait, did shane go to iceland?

Who's the man at 0:29

"Gonna turn Iceland into Greenland, baby" fav line of the season

“decomposing body in an open field” *hozier has entered the chat*

Dove: Fashion ready underarms Shane: ThrOw an in soLitArY coNfIneMenT

this hurt my brain.. the way he complietley SLOUGHTERED those names.. a point for trying though!

Can anyone tell me what's so special about Iceland? Literally I've had at least 6 people either visit or show interest in visiting in the last 6 months. Iceland was a "nobody" country until like a year ago and now it's blowing up and I'm hearing about it everywhere. Is there some big event that I'm missing?

Rubber sheets rock when your cat decides to owe on the bed for whatever reason or dog or spill something like water or Roman noodles

All hail the watcher

What happened to the baby?

I don't know about anyone else, but this only made me hate the police more than I already did lol. However, it was a good and interesting episode, and I loved hearing about Shane's Iceland trip xD

No one: Shane:

The next video that I would like to see is the Clinton road in NJ mystery they say it’s haunted

iceland rated the number one place to comit murder

I like how they're like "nah crime never happens here...on an unrelated note there's a ton of missing people. That's super common. Oh and we still don't know what happened to them." Do they not think maybe that's the result of crime, at least in some cases? Do they not put those two things together possibly?? I mean I know some people run away but come on lmao also, I've always wanted to go to Iceland! Kudos on pronouncing all those names!

For the postmortem: What if they have the purge..... Thoughts?

When I get murdered I want it to be done so well when it's featured only one theory is presented and it's about aliens.

My b'day is on Jan. 27

Well uh, I not long back from a school trip to Iceland and well uh, I survived

I just finished watching the one about la llarona and I got an ad for the movie

Take Shane to see Annabelle and let him do his thing lol

where's the new episode

HEY FROM ICELAND!! I'm probably your biggest fan over here hahah With so much love - ICELAND

Selena Stickney thank you ❤️ It's really Icelandic hahha

I love your name

If u wanna know more watch out of thin air on Netflix

Finally Ryan fixes his hair up

Do bella in the witch elm!

2:43 thats what she said

Lemongrab voice: SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!!!!

The mannequin gives me anxiety

13:18 Is that supposed to be a Mob Pyscho 100 reference?

Cops are way scarier than demons

ACAB

They should make a movie about Gisli, I think it would be amazing

Ooh so sims characters speaks Iceland names!!

I got an ad for a visit to iceland lol

Haf-en-ar-fjor-thur

Ryan: Gudmundur Einarsson My ears: anus

This was on my reccomended and I just checked the thumbnail and it had Iceland in it so I clicked on it right away because I’m Icelandic and I never see videos about Iceland

Where did you go kayaking?

Would ye ever do the death of Kurt Cobain? Man was one of the greatest rock stars ever and influential to many (including myself) and many of his fans are unsatisfied with his death being ruled out as suicide considering all the inconsistencies in the case and evidence it was otherwise.

I'm from Iceland btw

Finally someone is talking about Icelandic mysteries! We have a lot of missing persons mysteries only a handful of murders (now a days) and loads of folklore and ghost stories. I love when foreign people try pronouncing Icelandic names and places and you did a good job but at least one time you murdered Geirfinnur's name

half the letters are unrequired in the names

False memory syndrome - this is why Ted Bundy "confessed" and why so much of what he said didn't match up.

Reykjavik Police feels like Ace Combat 7's Col. Mckinsley and Bandog. "YOU! SOLITARY NOW!"

This is not normal police work in Iceland, this was 45 years ago (1974). Pretty sure around that time, no matter what country, you could fine holes in the police work of said country. We don’t have a lot of murders in Iceland, that is true, and the police was not equipped for the investigation. This case is famous, in Iceland, as an example for what not to do. Btw, not perfect pronunciation of the names but pretty good. Made me laugh a bit ☺️

Ryan’s pronunciation is surprisingly solid this time

Im still curios who was taking care of the baby while the baby's mother was in the solitary confinement

Your awesome?

Do the talwar case

His wife goofny

Why are there so many comments saying all hail the watcher because I don’t get it

Damn, Iceland is a big victim of Thanos.

I couldn’t even pronounce the names of the place and the people

:3

0:18 just me or does Shane look mad that Ryan cut him off?

ayy so the true horror isn't any ghost but the cruelty of man, nice light note to be on!!

Shane: "No I didn't buy the rubber sheet!" Ryan: "Sit there for 10 days. SOLITARY CONFINEMENT!"

She got the whole team flicked

heres my theory: they had the same last name cause they were secretly married and eventually decided to run off together, but they did it at different times to prevent suspicion then they lived happily ever after the end

The amount of time they spent in solitary is so messed up

They basically created memories for them. I don't think they really understand how doing that is literally turning them insane.

I just enjoy how Icelandic words look so much.

2:41 maybe he meant cum

Random person: “Hey look at the moon!” Other person: “Hey, Gudmunder!” Get it? Good moon there Gudmunder

Hey i live there

This case is so fucked up because the police literally tortured like 5 people???? and got away with it????

there is a documentary on this and it’s very interesting!!!!

everyone: iceland: sOLiTaRy CoNfINeMeNT also why did they treat erla so badly like the lady confessed and she just had a BaBY?

That voice crack at 10:15

The fairies got them.

do the case of Belle Gunness!

Yy

I would have said that the guard made me do the murder and had a gun to my head

Nobody: Shane: My rubber sheets

no-one: Icelandic police: SOLITARY CONFINEMENT for a murder you didn't eijbweiubewusdoouosubewg

OMG THEYRE TALKING ABOUT ICELAND IM ONLY 30 SECONDS IN AND IM ALREADY EXITED AAAAAAAAAAAAA

this is an extreme case of police brutality. absolutely disgusting

no one: Shane: wHen I wENt tO iCeLAnD...

I just want to ask something WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BABY

Taken by police and put in foster care I believe.

2:39 thats what she said

i went to iceland not to long ago and it was incredible tbh

The best part of the video is Ryan trying to pronounce icelandic names

Just pure 21:11 minutes of Shane selling Iceland to everyone. And I think I'm going to book a flight in the future...

and these guys seem like modern-day Beavis and Butthead but I'll say this I never wanted to go to New Zealand before but I sure as hell ain't going there now because they were in your lesson well from hir furore their love for Hitler and the SS sure has worked well for them here man New Zealand what a great place to live and visit. .NOOOOOT

for post mortem: GO GHOST HUNTING IN ICELAND!!! or like, body hunting. Either works. Love the effort Ryan put in to the names! xx

Stuck in solitary confinement? *all hail the watcher*

Please talk about the case of the missing Malaysian airplane, MH370

btw, if you are pissed off about how police handled this case, do a research on US prison system.

This episode makes me so angry. Not even Ryan’s attempts at pronunciations saved this episode for me. Not that the boys did anything bad by any means, but because of the terrible police in this episode.

basically a story of Icelandic police not knowing how to do their job

so iceland has a purge XD good to know

hmmm i hope they do bonnie and clyde true crime

can you do father of ninoy aquino assasination thx

Ja

I'm Norwegian, and I can hear that you butchered those names..

When young men dissapear here in beautiful Copenhagen, they always seem to turn up drowned in the harbour. I'm guessing that happens in Iceland too.

Top notch entertainment just hearing Ryan pronouncing Icelandic names

Y’all help I heard a really loud noise and realized it’s not part of the video it’s almost 4 am skskksskksksksks oh no they’re after me

All jokes aside, remember that if these people did not murder those two men, all of their lives were ruined nonetheless.

*NO I DIDN'T BUY THE RUBBER SHEETS*

This is basically the Crucible

Do sth about Nepal's royal massacre.

Solitary confinement is cruel and unusual punishment. It's a form of torture and should be banned across the globe.

the fact that he said pop , yes

These are...names

NO I didn't buy the rubber sheets!!!

oh yuk.

All hail the watcher

props to Ryan for pronouncing all the Icelandic names

You saying icelandic names is hilarious imfromicelandbtw

Im from Iceland and The way you say Icelandic words is maddening hahaha but loved the show

Question for Post Mortem: If so many people are known to have gone missing in Iceland, how come there isn't a missing person task force or something like it? It doesn't make any sense.

Just ask The Watcher! The Watcher see's all and knows all

I'm from Icelaaaaandddd

Denmark is great, greetings from Copenhagen

I have a question what happened to the baby?

I love Iceland! I went there on a geography trip once and it was amazing!

Shane in the beginning looksssssssss soooooooooooooooo tired

This is like a bad movie

It's so funny how the Icelandic names are pronounced, I'm Icelandic and know the real pronunciation so it is extra funny! XD

"Gonna turn Iceland into Greenland, baby." hahhaahhaahhaahhahaha

These names man

though out the story, I was only thinking about the 11 month baby.

... His friends saw him drunk-hitchhiking and... didn't TAKE HIM HOME???

The fact that they have the same last name makes me think that somebody killed the wrong person and then 10 months later realised it and then killed the right person... maybe it was a payed murder and they only gave a surname or like G. Einarsson. Or maybe even the police was involved with the murder or someone from the police was and that was the reason they wanted them to confess to the murder.

Not much crime in Iceland? Have you heard of Breiðholt? Haha, but for real, there are so many other interesting cases in Iceland

can you do the case of Madeline McCann

This is such a good season ! Please keep them coming !!!!

I’m home alone. Bad idea watching this?

do one on harold holt!!

Erla was not in prison the yeat 2018.

Can you guys not interrupt the documentary with your unnecessary commentary cameos. Really spoils the fun

As an Icelandic person, it’s so funny hearing ya’ll pronounce the names and locations

Going to Iceland in June to study Glaciers, i'll report back if i walk through a field and fine a decomposed body. xD Also, the disappearances/murders with no bodies could be people being thrown into volcanoes... would explain why nothing would be left

Oh God the way Ryan pronounces the nameeeeess...

Those pronunciations

if ryan says gudmunder one more time i-

Buzzfeed Unsolved is the only good part of Buzzfeed entirely

Can you try to have a case from Norway, there are where many usolved cased

Lol

Their names could pass off as pokémon names :|

I know Shane is from the Midwest but still shocked af he said pop

Do the italian bride. Its the pregnant bride in Chicago who after being dug up years later never decayed

not a single soul : literally no one: Police :

I went to Iceland and stayed in Reykjavik in January 2019. It was incredible

There's a good documentary on this case on Netflix called "Out of Thin Air"

why did he have to say cannabis like that?

You guys should do the disappearance of Harold Holt next......the Australian prime minister who went swimming in the sea and disappeared

All the disappeared people were sense8s

omg wouldn't it be fun if since shane doesnt believe in ghosts that ryan didnt believe in murderers

"i just dont personally believe they exist" im crying

do kurt cobain's death or Tupac

So pretty much the police psychologically tortured 6 people into confessing to two Murders they most likely didn’t commit

Are you sure it wasnt phone sex where she was going aaaauuuuuu Ill CUUUM

It doesn’t help that they got realllyyyy drunk

Me: (wheeze) Iceland police: Solitary confinement!

Im a murderhead who is also from Iceland and really enjoy your Videos. But for the record i had no idea about this case at all and the fact that they were released last year haha. And I really enjoyed hearing you mispronounce names in this video. Comedic genius

Who else only wants Shane and Ryan

Props to ryan for pronouncing all those names

*GO TO GETTYSBURG!! There have been so many ghosts spottings there.*

I have literally just gotten back from Iceland and I am so glad I didn't watch this before I left

*RUINING HISTORY* *DO IT YOU COWARDS*

If disappearances in Iceland were so common, why did the authorities not have a missing persons taskforce?

Iceland is so safe that parents leave their babies outside of bars unattended.

The way Ryan said Reykjavik and Einarsson made me cringe (edit: oh my god all these pronunciations are awful Ryan, honey-)

*W E W I L L D O A M U R D E R*

No one: Shane: WhEn I wAs iN iCeLaNd..

Doesn't everyone do crimes with their former teachers? Maybe not murder, but making meth with your former chemistry teacher seems like a good idea.

Ryan throwing a t into Erla's name for some reason is giving me so much anxiety but the fact he pronounces all the other names flawlessly-- wow

0:11: World hunger is a treat for me because i eat breakfast.

“I’ll come” THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID

damn i wish the music wasn’t so scary. if only if it was like,,,vlogger music or something. I’m—

Gotta love Icelandic names, am I right?

I saw Shane cruising the streets of Copenhagen when he was here last year! Wasn’t sure it was him but looked it up on twitter and sure enough he was in town.

Erla, Saevar, Kristjan, Gudjon, Tryggvi and ALBERT

They got the same last name as me

Sallie House return? You went to the Winchester Mystery house again, so you ought to go back!!! #postmortem #postmortem #postmortem

"Suspicious Case"- Just police brutality and torture to elicit false confessions

Russia apparently dosing have "coercion" laws...

0:28 jeez I almost had a heart attack

Actually, it's 11 weeks

Gacha Cookie Erla’s mother, the baby’s grandmother.

It's been so long since I have seen these

Shane’s disappointment at Ryan saying Task force instead of Usual Suspects. Like his excitement at mental synchronisation just.... deflated. He’s like

U should do the missing case of Madeleine McCann

Ryan: maybe it’s time to round up... Shane: the usual- Ryan: a task force Shane: -suspect...ok

5:12 Breaking Bad

I wanna suggest the murder of Venus Xtravaganza maybe? She had a wild life and would make for a good story, besides I think more people should know abt her

Soooo....what happened to her baby?

Ryan has issues rolling his R's but no problem with these names. Damn.

I'm sorry but Everytime I hear Iceland and Denmark I think of hetalia

Take a shot every time the solitary confinement door shuts

I'm surprised Ryan can pronounce some of these names.

Im from Iceland and its so funny the say every name wrong and Reykjavík and Keflavík and hafnafjörður the say it all wrong

you put the rubber/water resistant sheets under your regular fabric sheets. they protect the mattress.

I was born in reykjavík and i did not know this

No one: Iceland investigators: Throw em in solitary.

Shane gets his ‘pickle in a pond’ weirdness from his ‘rubber bedsheets’ mom

btw it's more commonly called in Iceland "Guðmundar- & Geirfinnsmálið" or "Guðmundur and Geirfinnur case ". Really sad case, all Icelanders know about the case :(

i was just in reykjavík!!!!

I was in Iceland when this was posted woah

The comments section Non-Icelandic People: OMG Ryan was soooo good at pronouncing those names why can’t he pronounce February/La Llorona?!?? Icelandic People: OMG Ryan BUTCHERED those names he’s awful I can’t believe it

Guys please do a video on Oraung Medan

As a person for Iceland this is the funniest video ever. Every time he says a name I laugh

Hey I live in Reno cool!

heres a 21 minute video on a mystery, but have 16 minutes on how bad the justice system was in iceland in the 1970’s dude i love them

I watched cnn after this

I love the way he said Albert Klhan

Remember me

What if the name for the unsolved fanbase was *The Lost Children*

But Iceland really is beautiful! I'm doing a travel video on my Golden Circle tour soon

Iceland = GAME OF THRONES :P HAHAHAH!

Maybe it the hidden people of Iceland who took them

This was a particularly frustrating episode. What a gross injustice to all of these people.

Do more icelandic stuff

those names turned my mind into a play-doh

lol the pronunciation (btw I am from Iceland)

Ryan: Says Febiary Also Ryan: Says ceiszhydhparlp and pronounces it perfectly

“Gotta Turn Icleand Into Greenland, Baby.” OMFG i’m dying ily Shane

I know Iceland is small, population wise, but are there no lawyers in Iceland!!!

Pls make a video about the Silawan Murder Case. Greetings from ph..

I like the fact that during this video, I got adds to go to Iceland for a holiday...

This reminds me of the case of the Norfolk Four: a guy was falsely accused by police of raping and murdering a woman. He was basically coerced into making a false confession. When DNA exonerated him, rather than releasing him they coerced him into saying he had an accomplice. This carried on until a total of four guys had been arrested and held for uncommitted crimes. When the actual culprit came forward, the police refused to believe him when he said he acted alone despite the evidence. It wasn’t until 2017 that the four men were granted full pardons. The good news is the interrogator who coerced these confessions was eventually imprisoned on other charges.

Liz Crosthwait he is not saying them right

Maybe they are like "meh".

Only buzzfeed stuff I’ll click on

Is this the same Iceland I visited 12 years ago? Where they just had a box on the bus where you were supposed to pay for your ticket unsupervised, in other words they trusted you to pay what you were supposed to (although you could pay whatever if you wanted)? Where everyone were super nice and helpful? I guess maybe this made them that way to make up for it?:p

I'm wondering now if Shane listens to True Crime Garage.

About 2 am his friends saw him on side of the road.... Ima just leave that alone...

In hoping to see Adnan Syed’s case https://serialpodcast.org/season-one

I’m watching this as I’m on vacation in Iceland

you accidentally wrote “victim” under albert’s name oops

your god danm right denmark is great and COPENHAGEN IS STUNNING i am from denmark myself

This is so random but pls help our group have more views on our 1 minute infomercial project in school about HIV: https://youtu.be/Y051AanFLEM

1. Ryan, how long did it take you to figure out how to say those names? 2. This is a complete 180 flip from what I think when I think of Scandinavian prison, and especially Icelandic prison. (google a picture of that Scandinavian prison that straight up looks like a resort, i forgot where it is, but i'm thinking Sweden or Norway)

I..Love...Shane

Some horror storyyyy pleasee

In summary of this,A bunch of people went into solitarily confiement

Ling-Ling Gutierrez von Wallenstein IV yes there are. Wtf

lol if you're not icelandic how would you know if he's saying them right (spoiler, he's not)

I feel this is an attempt on my life

That would be a awrsome drinking game

Yes

Once a year one single person is chosen to be purged, PURGE PLANET

I am currently an au pair in Iceland and I laught so much when you said Hafnarfjorður

I feel so especially sorry for Erla. Only 20 years old and what happened to her baby? Psychologically tortured into confessing a crime she never committed to try and be let go.

And look they were all tortured this way but I've got a soft spot for her

They were framed for these murders, who wouldnt confess after spending so much time in solitary confinement?

Well...not going to Iceland, that's for sure. This case was really bizzare!

A friend of me is named Gudmundur

The maps in the beginning was a little bit confusing. it would be helpful with a world map that zoomed I to Iceland so we know where we are

at least a map where you can see the hole country, and the zoom in to the city in mind

Majority of the video I was like "Okay, but... What about the child?"

*gonna turn Iceland into Greenland babey*

Will someone please do me a murder

[edited for spelling] You guys want to try the burning car that was found on HWY 1 in Billings in 2000? An airport employee went to clock out and five minutes later was found two miles away and stuffed in the trunk of her own car, the the car on fire. What's more bizarre is that the car was in a spot that the entire city could see (we have cliffs called the rims that are on the north of Billings) and nobody noticed until an elderly couple drove down the HWY and saw the smoke and called 911. The theories are insane. Try it, I dare you.

wait if people commonly went missing, then why didn't Iceland having a task force for missing people?

can you do the yeti

I stg these names aren’t real

Sounds like GITMO

Iceland Gestapo

remembermethoughihavetosaygoodbyeremembermeee

I wonder if anyone has looked at the fact that the names are so similar that maybe someone was after Geirfinnur for some reason and Gudmunder just happened to be in the wrong place. Since Gudmunder was so drunk when he left his friends maybe he slurred his own name and someone thought he was Geirfinnur

There is info about a mafia in Iceland and Geirfinnurs last phone call seems rather odd.

There’s too much about this mystery that doesn’t add up! Like if the people confessed to the murder why doesn’t the police ask them how they kill those people and where they left the bodies!!!! Like what?? And also what was their motive to kill? Were they getting paid or something for it? Or was it just completely random??

why aren’t these on netflix yet??

Chris Jenkins

“Go stand in that room for 10 days then I’ll ask about the rubber sheets”

Are all icelanders quiet?

Guy on phone... I've already "cum" I'll "cum"... Makes more sense

Emma nobody said they were right.

weeb

*drunk elmo falling on dishwasher*

This was not right on the part of the police..this was like the old witch hunts in the past...they went through crap..the police need to be locked away in solitary ,over and over...police are jerks.

That young Detective was Shinichi Kudo in disguise

Even in Iceland ACAB

this is so sad

when he said “quO0Te” i felt that

Icelandic last names are patronymic so it's not so weird for them to have the same last name haha. That's like them both having dads named John.

voice crack alert at 10:14

@1:00 what's wrong with that guys shoulder lmao

Does anyone else feel that maybe murder wasn't really that uncommon, but just that the police were so shockingly terrible at their job that they didn't realize it? I mean, these disappeared people had to have gone somewhere.

1:20 that moment when you live in reno nevada-

Its pronounced” reeyshaveek”

did anyone else see a connection to the Salem witch trials???

Buzzfeed under fire again for acknowledging false advertisement

What no Shane went to Copenhagen. Damn wish I had met him :(

When they said december 22 i was like god damnit thatd my bday

Icelandic names are strange but badass

You'd think Jesus could come up with a cleverer comment...

+Arlynum, yes they just did by saying that he has no problem pronouncing the names. If you can pronounce something it means they're saying it right. if it's wrong he means he does have problems with pronouncing the names and that they're wrong. you can't be wrong in pronunciation and 'have no problem with the names' at the same time

It's called pandering

These names tho XD

y'all still wondering why i hate the police

Shane seems high in this episode but I think it's just me. ;)

I know that lady was involved in forgery or whatever but......I feel so bad for her being stuck in solitary and having a newborn at home

it was all lies not enough of evidence it was was there any whitness at the time of the 2 murders jwtk

I HAVE WATCHED THIS THREE TIMES WHILE HIGH AND DIDNT COMPREHEND A THING. Its now a new week , a new high — maybe i’ll actually understand it this time.

So what happened to the baby?

Vizconde Massacre/Antipolo Massacre in the Philippines.

Okay but the Bodom lake murders in Finland... that’s something to look into

Omg I'm half Icelandic and listening to this was hilarious lmao

I don’t really get why this video/ people in the comments are making jokes. It’s an extremely sad sorry for the victims obviously and the accused. They were treated horribly for these murders they did not commit. If this is “journalism” not sure why they are joking about it.

Out of thin air on Netflix. It’s a sad story :(

yay Denmark

Real professional police work right there folks...

poor Ryan with these names

Sounds like a classic case of police brutality

This isn't really an unsolved. Like yeah, the actual disappearances are unsolved but the entirety of this episode is just a summary of how easy it is for corrupt police to draw confessions out of people through torture.

but the real question is, was it a pleasure boat?

I think I believe theory 2. I don’t think they were murdered

your profile name kekskskk

WheeeeZE

What happened to Elra's Dughter/Son?

please go to the Stone Lion Inn in guthrie, oklahoma. it’s a murder mystery bed and breakfast. the house it is in is considered one of the most haunted places in oklahoma. i’ve always wanted to go! ghost adventures did an episode on it and got a lot of evidence!

I went to Iceland last week

Props to Ryan for pronouncing those Icelandic names

Maybe it's like: There once was an Icelandic guy who disappeared, and everyone who disappeared after were just people, who were arrested as murder suspects by the police, and kept in solitary confinement forever.

... so what happened to Erla's son?

Geirfinnur's wife was actually having an affair with another man who lived in Keflavik. Shortly after Geirfinnur dissapeared he moved to Germany. It's almost certain who killed Geirfinnur. On the night Geirfinnur dissapeared 3 people were driving. Stefán "malaga prisoner" Almarsson was driving with his girlfriend and his friend, Þórður Jóhann Eyþórsson. Stefán Almarsson is known in iceland as "the Malaga prisoner" because he spent time in jail in Malaga, Spain. On the night Stefán was very drunk and drove over Guðmundur. They put his body in the car and put the car in the garage, covered the car with sheets and left it there for 3 days. He then later got the same type of car in a different color. It is believed that Guðmundur died in the car.

“Grilling him”

Keep up the good work boyzzz. Oo... and please do an episode about the Gibbons sisters or " the silent twins" pretty pretty pretty please with sugar and gummy bears on top.

biggie and Tupac

I live there

gyyuthmunder

ITS ALIENS!!! Nothing else makes any sense at all. It has to be alien abductions!

Do the Madeleine McCann case

Maybe Guigmundguigui said "I've already cum" like he already... You know... Sprayed out previously. But he has enough still for another spray. You know?

I have this weird attraction towards Shane. Sooooo weird.

The name gudmundur just cracks me the tf up. I'm sorry I just can't help it.

Bbbbooooringgg!

5:21

Did anyone else get confused with the people involved with the crimes because of their names or was it just me? Lmao

What if Gudmunder got really solid life advice and went to follow his dreams?

Please do the Stanley Hotel or the lost city of Pompeii not the song the actual city

The cohost "Shane" looks like Spencer from Underoath

What happened to Elra's Daughter/Son?!

a l i e n s

Would you guys do the Sewol Ferry incident it’s pretty sad and mysterious

These names tho

Wow, you can see the psychological effects of how the suspects and the officers perceive power and autbority. Much like Zimbardo's social experiment

ryan: can't say February also ryan: "albert klahn skatason and kristjan vidar vidarsson"

Those names ! My heads gonna explode ! I

I had the weirdest and funniest ad for Purple before watching this video. It’s 3 minutes long and it’s a Wookiee family.

Bro where’s all the wheezing

ayyy, who else is from iceland and has heard this story a thousand times ?

i’m insanely late like usual. let’s get it

Ok, so this might just be me, but does anyone else keep forgetting about the mannequin thing behind Shane that you can only see when the camera is focused on him. Cause I keep forgetting and then getting creeped out by it.

Yea buddy I’ll come too

please stop saying end quote...please

Is Hannah still haunted??

In other news, this ENTIRE investigation was completely botched.

What mystery do I want to solved mmmmmmmmmm Why my dad leave

Can we appreciate Ryan's pronunciation of all the names and places?!

So... Icelandic police tortured people in solitary for months so they would "confess"? Quite a middle age method....

‘maybe it wasn’t a nightmare. would you consider it...’ ‘sure can i g-‘ ‘...in solitary?’

XD you pronounce some of the names wrong but that’s OK a lot of people do it

It's a bit suspicious that the murder rate is low but the disappearance rate is high. It's a bit Hot Fuzz-y.

I don't understand you Americans, there stands Reykj-A-vik, so why do you say Reyk-i-vik? Same thing with a Ouij-A board Not a Ouij-I board No offense, it is still a nice video, and I really enjoy this series, but this really annoyes me

JEEZ! Talk about coercing a confession! That is HORRIBLE. Also, There's PROBABLY some language confusion here, but "We do a murder" DEFINITELY sounds like a Purge situation.

Netflix has a great documentary about this called Out Of Thin Air, which by the way 7 people confessed not six.

Well of course they confessed. These people were brain washed! Some cults practice the same method; locking people in rooms for days and days and days until they mentally snap

Great video guys! Why do you have that old cassette tape Holder next to you? Curious when that comes into play

ég er frá Íslandi

10:14 DID YOU HEAR THAT VOICE CRACK??

Ísland fyrir vinninginn! Thank god our legal system in Iceland is so much beter now.

Candles???

The solitary confinement alone would mess them up so much they will confess so if you add in torcher and threats they would say anything the police wanted them to so they probably did not do it.

And yet millions of Americans are in segregation today.

Chelsi Duplantis pompeii wasn’t criminal or unsolved... it was a natural disaster

Watch out for the Icelandic, you could be their one this year.

Shane - you are the coolest nerd :)

okay, but like the SKILL of Ryan's pronunciation

Nobody: Icelandic Police:SoLiTaRy CoNfInEmEnT

So they trolled the government and police?

It makes me really uncomfortable that you are making jokes about this case throughout the video. For a company that is offended by everything, you’re surprisingly insensitive here. These are people’s lives- be a little respectful.

YOURE PRONOUNCING IT WRONG AND IT ANNOYS ME

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network this episode in one word: solitary

Erla told news reporters that she was even beginning to question the existence of her baby. She would try to picture her, and she couldn't.

I think I would have rather them just murder me instead of question me forever. Idk how cops don’t get tired of all that especially if it’s obvious the person doesn’t know what’s going on.

ryan is mean to shane..i think he’s jealous...shane is classy and clever...ryan’s cool tho

i got a visit iceland ad before this video

That was a shitstorm.

So you're saying, Island doesn't have murders. And then you come at me with a plottwist of "but Island has people go missing all the time, and has no okay investigation department", so, basically... Iceland can be average on murder, while they are evidently bad at finding or good at hiding bodies

Make one about Marilyn Monroe

my man saevar kinda looks like charlie puth ngl

10:14 lol

Where was Erla’s child during all of this??

the nameees

OH MY F GOD!Wow some of yall really get mad at people being bad in pronauncing complicated names.SOME languages are really hard, esp for americans (because english is the easiest language).Like for instance i wouldn't get offended if he pronauncef serbian names wrong because we have š ić vić,č,dž,đ,lj,nj,ž,..Those are hard to pronaunce and we have strong R and pronaunce H as in Julio(spanish)...

+Hank maybe I sounded a bit harsh, but I just mean you don't even pronounce it like an "American a", you pronounce it like an "e" and I don't understand why.

Maybe....because..... we're not from Iceland????? And we speak differently because of that ???

This is horrible, damn. But I love Shane and Ryan(shaniac here). I wouldn't say a damn thing in Iceland cause they'd throw me in solitary confinement

What happened to the baby

I got so distracted by Ryan's perfect pronunciation that I kept having to go back because I was missing things.

Can't say February but has perfect Icelandic pronunciation.

no one: icelandic police: *_solitary confinement_*

This video is a mouthful

If people go missing so frequently in Iceland, what made police think these two men were murdered?

Don't be silly it has to be the fae! Always be wary of travelin at night lest the fae spirit ye away! Lot of faeries in Iceland.

Me: watching a show about murders in iceland. Add in the middle of this segment: heyyyyy wanna come to iceland *winkieface* Smooth, very smooth ...

I feel like Ryan sounds a little like T.J. Miller mixed with Ryan Reynolds.

Do the Mary Celeste

For the #postmortem : how can Ryan not say “February” correctly whilst he is able to pronounce all of these foreign names perfectly??? #biggestunsolvedcase

And a few decades later America would invade Iraq

Goof moonder

I want ‘Buzzfeed SOLVED’ for the next season

and they say you can't do torture without making a mess. just close the door on them i guess. yikes.

That dummy in the background was the scariest part of this whole video...

The Asian-looking guy's fake laugh is decently faked that he makes Jimmy Fallon's look really cringe-worthy.

Pls do Madeline Mcann!!!!!!!!

They were given so much solitary confinement because they did not *all hail the watcher*

I thought this was about those mountain climbers who disappeared and there footsteps like going into the tent but never coming out and there’s radioactivity or whatever. That would be a fun one for buzzfeed ghosts and ghouls

The lottery is a bomb play

Man... I want to see these people get together for coffee and try to collectively solve the disappearences themselves, just to spite the police

Rubber sheets? Isn't that... A BDSM thing?

I love your show, please do the disappearance of Maura Murray or the disappearance of Lauren Speirer

As a Texan. The comparison of the population size of Iceland to the population of Reno Nevada means literally nothing to me.

So people were going missing regularly yet they didn’t have a missing task force? Why?

No one: Absolutely nobody: Nobody ever: The watcher: all hail the watcher!

H b,

Nice voice crack 10:15

You should do one about madeline MacCan

A wild animal or animals might have killed the men.

If people disappear so regularly that it's part of folklore, your country probably has a few more murders than you realise

Research the Natalie Wood murder!

Ryan said Nevada right...my life is complete

Literally no one: Shane: well WhEn I WeNt to iCeLaNd...

what happen to the baby lmao

Y’all........ this is not it. This is classical coercion. They probably didn’t do it or atleast weren’t as involved as they said. It’s sad how upsetting corrupt offices are. These people were tortured and I feel like this was cruel and unusual... :/

I needed to hear your side voiceovers today...they make me laugh or should I say *wheeze*

Shane talking about his trip to Iceland and how beautiful it is reminds me of how Ned goes on about his wife

Did anyone else have an “explore Iceland” ad before this video

Iceland is the most beautiful yet misterious country I’ve visited. Watch “Out of thin air” on Netflix and if you have a chance visit it aswell :)

Man Iceland police sucked they all should be thrown in solitary confinement

Bruh I can not keep up with these names

How about a show on the disappearances of the Beaumont Children of 1966.

Ryan: ... Shane: HaVe I mEntiOneD I’Ve bEeN To ICelAnD??

Hahahahaha. A weakened man says "remember me" and he doesn't do anything lol ???

Why. Just why.

Well this might have been the most terrifying one yet, those poor poor people

There is no way in hell those kids did it. Anyone would confess to anything after being in solitary confinement for that long, any way to become free would be better than that...that is 100% abuse of power and torture. I hope these kids sued

I got an add to go to vacation to Iceland while watching this

I got an ad for a car rental company in Iceland mid video... clever

You should make an episode talking about the 2014 Iguala mass kidnapping in Mexico

Can the narrator stop saying "quote" with more power and volume than the actual quote!!! It is SO annoying!!! All I'm hearing is blah blahblah blah QUOTE blahblah QUOTE blah blah blahblah QUOTE I'm 10 mins in and can't handle anymore, sorry! {(>_

I have a best friend who has experienced isolation confinement for like a year and boy... let me tell you that based on his statement, isolation confinement is a hell of a treatment.

Solitary confinement is still used widely today, especially on the U.S.

Can you do on pigton farm About the butcher

Big fan of yours from Denmark here! So glad you liked Copenhagen! A nice season so far! Please, keep up the good work :D

the teacher was probably like: hey u wanna make sumextra credit

This is legit gaslighting. Like obviously locking someone in solitary confinement for weeks on end and almost drowning them is gonna make that person confess to whatever the hell you can think of. The investigators could have asked if those 6 shot JFK and disappeared Jimmy Hoffa and they would've all said yes after that kind of torture. They're probably all The Watcher and The Zodiac too in the eyes of those investigators

If disappearances happen so goddamn frequently why didn't they have a missing persons task force"

Halfway through the episode, I forgot that someone got murdered

“About once a year we will do a murder” Ryan’s reaction

We need for Shane interruptions it makes it less scary

the way ryan tried to pronounce reykjavík is adorable

Shane is literally one of the funniest people on the internet. Underrated as hell this man is, he and Ryan should start their own channel.

Plot twist : Gurmunder and Gierfinnur were lovers and both (dissapeared)fled to another country and lived a happy life.

Last names are ANALson!!! Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahaha

And ryan cant say February. He can say all these names. Wow

They wasted their life

the way reykjarvik was pronounced ticked me off a bit

Btw the population here is over 330000 and we do have special forces but tbh its very small cause nothing ever happens

Eyyyyy. Just wanna let you know you have icelandic viewers. (You butchered everysingle name)

gúðmundur xD

"I know you're not implying that the whole country gets together and picks one person-" Me: **read "The Lottery" for AP Lit** lol like the lottery "-Like The Lottery to be sacrificed" Me: omGGGGG

R.I.P Fredo

HIS WIFE GOOFNEE LMAO

hail the watcher

So his friend saw him trying to hitch a ride at 2 A.M in the snow, and like, just watched? I have doubts if these people are actually "friends" or are just winesses

15:11 trIggered

Important lesson of the day: Don't go to Iceland

literal waterboarding and psychological torture/manipulation is definitely going to lead to legitimate confessions

Basically what the Japanese justice system is today

I'm reminded of the practices in the Malleus Maleficarum, and of the various methods of extracting details in Satanic Ritual Abuse cases... Amazing how, when you're torturing people into confessing to a crime, they tell you what they think you want to hear...

Icelandic People at the time didnt know how to react to two men with a weaker man on a boat and only two of them returning because murder just didnt happen back then and its still extremly rare in this country. Its really hard to get this if your not from iceland since we know our society “vibe” the best . I personally would never think that if i saw something suspicious what maybe looked like a murder asume that it was where i live because its just so rare here . -icelandic person :}

The pronunciation lol

all im getting out of this is that iceland was so desperate to solve a case they used psychological torture to convince some people they did it, and because of that the real killer probably got away with it cleanly.

Solitary confinement is absolutely horrendous. Days or at the very least weeks of it would be enough to get me confess pretty much anything. That practice should be universally recognized as the twisted form of torture that it is.

im from iceland and its the least eventful place ever this video surprised me IM DYING REYKIVIK

4:40 his face lmao

ayyyy reno wassup

Iceland is fuckin wild

Nobody : Shane : Iceland baby

2:36 Damn they really were freaky over there

It feels like there was a strong drug trade in Iceland and a lot of these "missing" people were actually murder or accident victims but the cops either had nothing to go on, or simply didn't believe it was possible that they had been murdered, since that kind of thing "just didn't happen" there...Like there was an institutional blind eye turned towards such things...

I feel like the only reason these people confessed was to get out of solitary confinement. Being alone for a long period of time is not healthy and they probably just wanted to get out. I feel bad for them, knowing they went through that.

The names have me cackling

Yaay Denmark :D #RødGrødMedFlødeGang

Suspect: h- Police: Solitary Confinement Gary: um sir we dont have any room left Police: uhhhhj kill em

*Googles rubber sheets*

arna s ikr

This sounds highly manipulative

I’m addicted.

In Iceland last names are the name of your father then add sson or son, Because in the Viking era it mattered who your father was, so if they have same last name it is a coincidence

There’s a documentary about this on Netflix

Crimes in Iceland like murders are reqly rare. I know one murder that happened d and I slept in the living room where murder and suside ( sorry if I spell wrong.) The hapend in Hæðargarði that's in Reykjavik here's a link of the story. It's in Icelandic but you can probably translate it. (click on the link and scroll then Dow and you can see the picture of the house and the story.)https://www.dv.is/fokus/timavelin/2018/11/26/mord-a-jolum/. I hope you could make video about it..

eyewitness guy: "hey I saw a guy get carried off. he loo-" police, already handcuffing him: "solitary confinement!"

Look at the Birgitte Tengs case from norway. Very similar where they pushed the cousin of the killed girl to confess, without any evidence. Great case I would really appreciate you making an episode on. Also look at the Orderud case, where 4 people were sentenced for contribution, but no one for actually murdering the family... really odd case too.

Gisli Gudjonsson worked on the Tengs case as well.

Could you do Chiong Sisters case?

_"I've already come"_ _"I'll come"_ My dirty mind,jesus-

Out of thin air

What's it called

Police: we're going to help you remember. Me: Back to the room you go Erla!

Good job on pronouncing those names man!

Those who disliked this video are gay

Hahaha. Im sorry but the names hahahahha

you guys do realise that surnames do not work the same in iceland right. look it up

Im icelandic and im not afended about the names its funny

About the psychology of the interrogation techniques... If committing the crime was traumatic for them (the acquired PTSD from it), they might start to have an episode if anything triggering to them in brought up, but it doesn't have to be forceful interrogation, just enough to make them uncomfortable, which also depends on the severity of the trauma. Also, notably isolation is not usually going to help memory as it can and usually will induce cognitive decay, unless the person begins using that time to actually try to recall what happened, and as Ryan said, at that point, especially as a criminal (with a selfish mindset and no intention of confessing), the only thing they would be thinking about is how to get themselves out of there.

if you look up "rubber bed sheets" you'll understand why it's so out of place to sell it in bed bath & beyond

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BABY?!?!? DID THEY JUST LIKE LEAVE IT AT HOME WHILE ALL THIS WENT ON?

Ryan lookin like a snacc

Reeeeeeeee

people in iceland are huge

This is why you don’t drink

Burk and hare !!!

You guys should do the Colmenares case!

The guys in solitary confinement must be like ‘ if we confess will the f of... hmmmm,’

"While crime was very uncommon in Iceland, disappearances were not..." Hmm. Perhaps crime "was" more common there than they wanted to consider.

Wow, I'm not usually this "Erla!"

so funny how you try to pronounce our names and fail miserably

I came here for two reasons 1. I love unsolved 2. I'm a quarter icelandic and what do you know, 13:18 this guy has the same last name as my great great grandfather

Its weird how the two victims had the same last name despite not being related

I went to the Iceland airport... but it’s in the middle of nowhere

Are those pictures the real people or you just googled random men and woman cuz like a person could see this and be like "WTF THATS ME!"

no one: Iceland police: INTO SOLITARY CONFINMENT IT IS

So if disappearances are so common in Iceland, why haven't they set up a government branch to help find missing persons?

that man was innocent i think

IN GREENLAND THERE IS A OLD CASE OF MISSING VIKINGS CAN YOU DO A STORY ON THAT????

ITS FOUNDERS ARE VIKINGS

No wonder why Iceland has no crime they do this to the suspects and non suspects

Were they brothers or is there two Einers

what's up with these names, iceland? like jeez all of them are like tongue twisters to me.

Saevar’s last name isn’t Icelandic, is it?

Out of Thin Air - Netflix - A great doco about the case

I feel bad for Ryan having to pronounce all those names.

The pronunciation of the names and places is hilarious

This isn’t a spooky unsolved case, it’s literally just a couple of kids who got drunk and died in an accident or something and then, in a desperate bid to figure it out, the cops tortured random people to manipulate confessions out of them.

like literally this is just a really horrific story of police brutality. that’s it.

How long did it take you to pronounce all the names Ryan. How long

So we're murderheads now.

The WHAT confessions

No one: Shane: Iceland in beautiful

I think they were victims of human trafficking, possibly to sell organs on the black market since that's apparently a thing in Europe.

So wait two of his friends saw him in the snow drunk trying to get s ride and what they just drove past?

It's spelled Reykjavík, please and thank you.

This poor woman. The poor Baby... This hurts

+hug annoy lmao

17:29 thanks Shane thank you for saying pop (I'm sorry but it's just not soda)

BTW......what happened to Erla's baby?

ryan : go stand in that room for 10 days and then i’ll ask you about the rubber sheet . 1 day in the room: no i didn’t get the rubber sheets 5 days in the room : did i buy the rubber sheets ? why would i but rubber sheets ? 10 days in the room : YES I BOUGHT THE RUBBER SHEETS , THEYRE AMAZING lmfaooooo

This is actually so sad like this is such poor practice for getting confessions, like I feel bad for all those people in solidarity confinement, and the child she had. Like you are tricking people and making them crazy this is disgusting

This sounds like a bad movie where, in the end, we find out that the two dudes just went on vacation and decided to not come back *OR* that the police did it and are badly covering it up

This is basically 1984.

Who's taking care of the baby???

Ned has his wife Shane has his Iceland Both are true love ❤️

no one: Iceland lady: we do a murder once a year

I love buzzfeed, Shane and Ryan are cool as feck

The description box tho lol

Throughout all of this did the detectives just not ask the suspects where the bodies are ?

..replied: qUOte Dat Voice qwack tho

but he can’t say february

The best thing about this whole episode is their pronunciation of the suspects' & victims' names

my brain hurts after watching this

I'm still laughing at were gonna turn Iceland into Greenland baby

The (wheeze) is back!

This channel gets thousands of hits everytime. Geez. The power of a name.

Thanks for liking our city, Shane

What happened with Erla’s baby??? Like she was kept there for even longer too cause of the statement she made.

There are like no murders in iceland. I live here and the last murder i remember was in 2016.

Hello from an iceland. Love hearing you try to say the names

OMG WELL CALL OURSELVES THE CRIME LORDS OR CRIME BOSSES P L E A T H E

Hey, BuzzFeed Unsolved ( Ryan and Shane ) Can you please cover the Story of the Zanetti Train Case in 1911 where The train entered the half-mile-long tunnel in Lombardy Mountain and never came out!. Is it True? if Yes, What happened to the train? It would be an interesting one.

Yeah I don’t think they killed them.

this is so horrible! those police officers should be locked up!! this isnt funny its literal torture!

Shane mentioning Iceland is like ned mentioning his wife

Way to roast Reno

I wonder what happened to Erla's baby

Shane is very funny like laugh out loud

They only did solitary so it would drive them insane and they would want to get out there’s a pretty high chance that they didn’t kill them they only do that so they can just say the case is solved when it really isn’t

Ryan though

make monafandi

God this is actually so heartbreaking. Chances are these people were innocent, but they were physically and psychologically tortured, and made to question their sanity until they were forced to confess to something they probably didn't do just to make it stop.

This became really sad. Guilty or not, those people were tortured and whatever they confessed to was more than likely an attempt to get out of their awful situation.

How you are pronoincing the names, is rrally bugging me.

My brain hurts from trying to follow this farce. That doesn't happen to me very often, so well done on that

albyert

no one: shane: you know in iCELAND-

Cant trust a single confession brought about by confinement torture

The NAAAAMES

iceland: oh, we don’t have crime here. people just disappear every once in a while and we don’t follow up on that, ever

shane looks high af

the man that they made a clay look a like is my dads friend.. and the case is still going today..... and the girl that they locked.. they raped her and beat her up 2 a week

and they tried to blame my uncle

My last name is Einarsson :o

I love this video and series so much. I may be biased, but this was posted on my birthday. A wonderful thing to wake up to. Thank you!

"you know, i really liked those multiplication tables we made.." "how would you like to make a man disappear?" iM WHEezing,,

i still just wanna know how they move the mannequin

I went to Las Vegas and saw 2 shootings and a chase and live in Dublin and I keep a knife by me while I sleep

Lol id they dont have murders then they dont have experience with murders. So obvious why they havent caught the killer

Iceland police: so uh did miakhalifa empty out your "pleasure serum" Me: yes,- Iceland police: put him in solitary confinement

@Bloody Scourge He's a legend

Holy smorgdorginorf!!! That is messed up.

19:10 remember me though I have to say goodbye remember me each time you hear a sad guitar

Alright so if you get arrested in Iceland they just throw you in solidarity?! Lol

I'm pretty sure Of Monsters And Men is from Iceland.

When I commit murder I want it to be so bizarre that people think rouge faeries did it

What if the "murdered" people just moved and didn't tell anyone

So his friends saw him hitchhiking and didn’t pick him up? Nice guys

Lol am I the only one that read Reykjavik using Spanish J’s and said it as “Wreck Havoc”?

Im from Iceland and im always steeling candy from the store so am I going to be thrown in solitary confinement Likeið ef þið skiljið

HAHAHA  murderheads!

They wrote her name wrong it’s BolladÓttir Ó

Auuuuuuu gaman að vita!!!

Ayyyy ég er ekki eini Íslendingurinn

KristjÁn VÍÐar

I love the way they pronounce all the Icelandic names wrong

BRO WE HAD TO READ THE LOTTERY THIS YEAR *quOte*

They are.......in from Iceland and there pretty popular over here

Imagine if the real murderer was still out there watching the news..

When he keeps saying the names and it melts my brain

Ryan:he- Shane: well when I was in Iceland -

When you said “For the record” the movie my sister was watching transitioned into a shot of a record” lol

I think we need to take more about the fact that Ciesielski stole alcohol, candles, and checkbooks. That is the weirdest goddamn combination of thefts.

20:00 Looking at you climate deniers and transphobes

And people wonder why I hate government bodies and have no respect or sympathy for those that assist and/or work for them

Queen

Woah there Ryan 10:14 voice

Icelands interrogation tactics are a tad questionable

Love this show!!!

Ok I know this is upernoff topic, but I've always wanted my birthday to be in one of these vids and now that it has my life is complete. (Dec 22)

LAKE BODOM

I’m from island

Did you know that Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland

@Aníta Rós Would love to visit Iceland! See the volcanoes

You should look into the Jersey Devil for your supernatural series.there are some crazy pictures and theories.

Um... Can anyone please tell me what happened to the baby? I'm kimda worried about Erla's baby...

For Postmortem: How would you deal with this case if you were the detectives in charge?

Ricky Goldsworth and Shane's Australian alter ego (which btw do we have a name for him yet?) did it. Case closed, boys.

for postmortem: What would you do if you were put into solitary confinement?

For the #postmortem: So, my question is; Do you guys have a favourite unsolved case? Like, one case that you want solved just to satisfy your curiosity? (P.s.:You guys should do an episode about The Dyatlov Pass incident) #boogara #whereisthehotdaga?

Ryan and Shane: Murderhead right here, btw. Do any Icelanders believe that the "disappeared" were taken by elves? For a largely atheist/agnostic country, they sure love their folklore!

Why did you choose this incident? It's not... like the sort of mysteries you normally choose. In this one, it almost feels like the real crime was the abusive approach the police took to "solving" the disappearances?

If there are so many disappearances in Iceland, I'm not sure it makes sense these two disappearances are connected. Is there any evidence of that?

What if one of the guys WAS murdered and the other guy "disappeared". Part of me thinks that Erla wasn't involved, like at that point she was just desperate to get out and then she remembered things wrong. Maybe she was asleep and she heard her ex whispering and maybe she was there when the crime happened but she was half asleep or something idk

note : need more wheeze laughs

@Post Mortem What if they really did the murder of Gudmundur while the case of Geirfinnur was not because you guys told us that they indeed have same surname but they were not related... Do you guys think that Erla's confession about shooting Geirfinnur was a false memory? And if you were in there place will you guys be forced to make some stories just to make it convincing?

Please do Mh370 cases that several yaer ago

Rakey Vick?

Conspiracy theory: it was Shane.

For PostMortem: How is the horse doing? Did they enjoy the episode?

For me, it's obvious that the guys disappeared by themselves. Maybe foul play happened, like a hit and run, but nothing like murder. But why solitary confinement? Why not normal jail with a snitch to observe and report? I guess they didn't care about truth, just cared about solving the case. #unsolved PS: congrats on the names, I'm looking forward to hear you guys butcher mine

Maybe you should do the death of Noah makintosh is so confusing

Please do an episode on the Ourang Medan!!! It’s an amazing and interesting theory!!!!!

@O_o This was 1974. The police force do now have one. And alot of other things. This case brought shame to the police force of Iceland when all the documents were released. Many reforms have happened since and the police is very modern and functional today

For Post Mortem : Where do you think the bodies go? What can you say about the way they extract confessions? And lastly Love you guys!!!!

Also why is it easier to make a clay model head and not sketch a picture. Like some people are really talented and can get it done quickly but I don’t think the police is gonna get one of those to do their one time a year murder case suspect

What sort of laws/legal precedents allowed the police to detain people without charges in solitary confinement for hundreds of days? Shouldn't the accused lawyers or advocates be up in arms over that kind of treatment?

How did they not talk about how ridiculous it would be if someone came up to you with a clay model head and asked “have you seen this man?” I don’t know about you but if I was approached I would definitely be sketched out, bodyless heads are just so offputting

My cat ran away once and you know what I didn’t do is lock a group of random strangers in my basement until they confessed to killing him but you know what seems like an effective tactic I’ll get back to you on that

@Monbebean Yes they were. No they are not anymore

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network #forthepostmortem can we please please please have a special ep about people who went crazy from eating mold, the people in France who danced; moldy Cheerios etc.

Hi I'm the 300th comment

for the post mortem: which of the theories are you both most compelled to believe? also, do you have any information on the conditions/rules of the solitary confinement? like how long were they in there at a time without talking to someone (for questioning, etc.)? lastly, what are your favorite shades of yellow? love you both and please do some stuff in Michigan (maybe even Ann Arbor)!! #postmortem #shaniacbutfuckthehotdaga #goodriddance

For the post mortem: I'm with Ryan that this case will probably never be solved due to the way the police handled it back then, but are there any cases you've discussed so far that you really think could be solved? PS. I'm new to buzzfeed unsolved but im proud to say im a boogara bc I too am afraid of everything (i love you too shane)

@Exo's Teddy bear Ocean

2:42 not a question but the words he spoke sounded like something in a really bad p*rno

So is Erla still in solitary confinement today, and do we know anything about her child?

Exo's Teddy bear they just never found the bodies, that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be bodies

If disappearances were so common in Iceland, why wouldn't they have a task force? Also, if no one knows if these guys were murdered or just missing, how do they know that past unsolved disappearances weren't murders? How does anyone know that Iceland isn't actually the murder capital of the world? Just #shaniac thoughts.

Did the watcher do it

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Does Shane know about the Lottery by Shirley Jackson, where the population literally all gather to do a murder together? I know that he was probably just referring to the general lottery, but I really love that story and was just listening to it this morning. PS: Jackson also wrote the original Haunting of Hill House book, the Netflix series of which is likely the closest we’ll ever get to Shane encountering ghosts. #postmortem

How r u guys doin?

How does Ryan go about figuring out how to pronounce all those names? I don't even know if he is pronouncing them right, but it seems like he works pretty hard to always say things correctly.

Just gonna point out as an Icelander with friends in the Police. This case is taught in the academy on how not to conduct an investigation. And the police is a real full-fledged modern police force and solitary confinement is illegal unless violent behaviour and must be prosecuted beforehand. And confessions must not be forced. And lawyers must always be present during hearings. However, The US police system still works like in this case. Also about the missing people. People aren't being murdered In fact : Those are disappearances due to the harsh climate and terrain of Iceland and most of the people that go missing are tourists that don't know how dangerous Iceland's countryside really is. Almost every week we hear about tourists that tragically lose their lives by falling into rivers that they weren't supposed to go near or trying to drive through rivers in small cars and the current just swallows them whole and dumps them down a waterfall. And most of these places are in the mountain-Highland regions so most aren't found due to that. Also, many tourists go away from their tour group on glaciers and fall into small holes on the glacier. Also, many people don't know how to drive on Icelandic roads and drive off the road and into the ocean. Which is surprisingly common. Also, fisherman fall of boats all the time and that still counts as missing So there really isn't anything sinister going on. Murder rates are the lowest in the world and we can clearly see when a murder has been committed or just an accident. When a tourist goes missing in the highland region and their car. That's an accident. When people go missing from their homes or their work or just disappear entirely. That means a kidnapping or a murder has been committed. Which I might add is very rare. The Icelandic police have gotten way better than they were and most of the people that go missing will be found within 3-4 years of their disappearance

Theroy for the post mortum: What if the folks in Iceland actually do get together to "do a murder once a year" and in 1975 this group of people botched up the anual murder and had to pay with their sanity? Can we get the screen writers form Cabin in the Woods going with this story line?

What kind of dicks sees there friend walking home and stumbling through the snow and doesn’t stop to give him a ride.

One of the suspects actually talked about killing the guy on a boat... So maybe he had something to do with it? Maybe he was one of the two men who carried the guy? Honestly, these names are too hard for me! I'm Latina, I'm used to having a vowel after every consonant. So congrats on your pronunciation Ryan. Shane, have you been hired by Iceland to promote tourism there?

Shane's Murderheads

Why is Ryan so good at pronouncing all these names?? I could never :0

Could the original officers investigating have been involved in the disappearance of the two missing men (or helping to cover up the men's deaths) and known that by using solitary as a punishment and having the witnesses act out the crimes they could create false memories, or at least get confessions?

#postmortem I know this isn't a supernatural episode, but I'm getting a "30 Days of Night" vampire vibe here...isn't it dark for months in Iceland during their winter? All those unexplained disappearances, the uninhabited areas, the isolation and small population...seems opportune for terrifying feral vampire covens to wreak havoc...

Have you guys actually ever SOLVED a crime?

How long did it take Ryan to practice the names? Or is Ricky goldsworth icelandic and has a dark brooding backstory there? #postmortem

Where do you get the information for these episodes

I just want to know how is her baby and who the heck is taking care of her child? I really don't think that you guys would answer this...

Even a day in solitary confinement can cause damage to the mental psyche and questioning someone who had been in it for an extended period of time is a risk to the case, do you think all of the evidence could have been made up from the beginning? Btw hi Ava!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network y’all are posting so much I don’t get it also #shaniac

Hows Ricky Goldsworth? It’s been a while since we heard from him Ryan! (PS: I’m a Shaniac so hey shane)

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Do a Mexican caseeeeeee!!!!!!

okay but why would they make a clay sculpture instead of a police sketch? They really had to flex on us like that

#Questionsforthepostmortem What if the police killed the two guys and pinned it on a known Criminal so get the heat off of their backs. They were just throwing people in to Solitary to mess with their minds. The police got away with it.... It was the perfect crime. #minipourge

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network props to Ryan for practicing those names

If Gudmundar friends clearly saw him drunk with a unknown man why in the world would they not become alerted before it was to late for Gudmundar to disappear?

#Postmortem they were just gay and eloped.

@BuzzFeed Unsolved #Post Mortem... Why did the police not think of a better way of interrogating these people, they cant do their jobs right and they feel the need to put a new mother who cant see her baby in to confinement!?! It's just screaming outrageous....

Is The Hot Daga ever coming back? #postmortem

Why if so many people go missing they don’t develop a missing persons department ?!

#roastmortem they got a mr. potato head- so basically a wayyyy smaller version of shane’s head. you simply cannot deny the resemblance!

How did you pronounce those names so smoothly??

What were the effects that these murders had on Iceland/ Iceland's government?

My dad served a mission to Denmark. He regularly swears in Danish now. Also, I think I went on vacay with my parents to Iceland when I was 6 months old...but I don't remember it.

so people go missing in Iceland all the time, but there's no police department for that?

wow! such names to pronounce last 2 episodes!! #LaLlorenaShaniac, #TeamBoogaraICLANDIC God!

#postmortem Maybe, just maybe, the 'victims' just wanted to disappear by themselves?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network I don’t know about you boys, but if I saw my friend drunk & hitchhiking, I’d pick em up. What’s up with that? Love ya both, you’re doing great :)

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network The fact that there are so few crimes occurring in Iceland means that the police were probably not used to investigating suspects. They probably didn’t realize that what they were doing wasn’t actually working because they hadn’t done a lot of it. Still very unfortunate and sad for those suspects.

Nothing to do with the show but is that a VHS or cassette holder on Shane’s left and if so can I buy it?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network hey there devious daddios, question for postmortem: If heinous crimes are so uncommon in Iceland, why did they have so many solitary confinement cells? It seems odd that they had multiple cells for isolation yet were notably ill equipped for any investigations? Seems sus, what are y’all’s thoughts?

Question for the postmortem. The shadowed photos you use - are they the actual people from the cases? Also, you'd think when people going missing is common rough to be part of the national identity/folklore (even when crime isn't usual) they'd have a department for that...

#postmortem wait. wait. wait. I can see someone stealing checkbooks being a problem but why does history specifically remember that the guy stole candles? Is there a huge population of candle enthusiasts in Iceland or something?

I wonder if Shane has ever been to Iceland? Also a shark is way scarier than a bear. 9 out of the 10 bears agree.

You would think that in a place where disappearances were so frequent they would recognise whether or not a case was a disappearance or a murder. Apparently not. All hail the Watcher I guess.

#Ryanist Hey Shane how was your trip? Btw aliens and ghosts exists so deal with it. #GhostsAreFuckingReal

#Postmortem This question is for Shane. When will the hotdaga come back? I really miss it. Btw Ryan's pronounciation is on point

What if they are still alive and they’re watching this episode about themselves and laughing?

For the postmortem: did you guys have any teachers in the past you think would help you with murder? #shaniac #LoveYouTooThoughRyan

For post mortem: this case made me think that perhaps many “genius” criminals/murderers evaded the law for so long because of just plain ole incompetency in law enforcement. thoughts? love ya

#forpostmortem are the "considered suspects" of this case confessed the same thing without them having any communication or contact? 'cause if yes then maybe, everything they said is true because they all happened to tell the police the same exact thing. plus did the police even asked where the bodies were? probably if they did and put them on solitary confinement to confess, maybe they will have a lead. and lastly, they should've interrogated the other witness too who saw the two guys. anyway love u guys

#Postmortem Do you guys believe there is any correlation between Saever's story of possibly killing Gudmundur or Geirfinnur on a boat and the eye witness testimony of three men leaving on a boat and coming back with two? It's interesting that even though Saever's time in solitary ruined his memories, that he would propose a very specific detail that the murder may have taken place on a boat. Another theory, perhaps? All hail the watcher I guess #boogara

The next one you should do is the disappearance of branson perry from skidmore, missouri

HEY GHOUL BOIS!!!!!! Firstly, how was Iceland, Shane? Would you've believed your cab lady commits crimes? But, serious question time (not really) how long do you think you'd last in those four's positions (I can't spell their names because I'm bad at Icelandic names)? Also since we can't find those two missing men, All Hail The Watcher, I guess?

Did the Icelandic police every look into the two men leaving the country? Even maybe faking their deaths!?

how long do you guys think you could last in solidarity confinement? Not with all the waterboarding and other stuff lmao, just being on your own in a room with nothing but your own head

My thoughts are that the police wanted to force confessions from anyone that was undesirable. This story sounds like what happened in Nebraska https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/crime-and-courts/4580878-six-people-were-convicted-murder-they-didnt-even-remember-now-county

love the Sherlock Holmes vibes from Shane

I love it when you guys tackle cases outside of the US! any plans to do more of those per season? suggestion: the unsolved assassination of Swedish prime minister Olof Palme. love you guys! PS where is the hotdaga????

Do people not have rights in Iceland?

Question for post Mortem... Shane, have you ever been to Iceland?

*WHAT HAPPENED TO ERLA'S BABY?!* D:

Shane and ryan, very important question. Do y'all play solitaire? If so... good. Lol love you both

The "Murder Heads" demand more Hot Daga.

allir hagl áhorfandans

I went to Iceland the summer before last. The flights there are cheap, the country is expensive. But there is a reason people aren't walking on those fields, they have moss that takes 100 years to regrow if stepped on. It would be easy to follow the footsteps if someone did walk there. However, tourists ignore the signs and walk on the moss anyway. My question is though, do these missing people just up and move? Change identities and ditch?

For the post mortem! Shane and Ryan, DC or Marvel? Luv u guys

those poor people. being held in solitary for that long can be detrimental to your state of mind. they might’ve falsely confessed just to get out of solitary, or maybe they were in there for so long that their perception of the crime was changed and they subconsciously made up the confessions. i mean, there would be little else to think of after being interrogated for ten hours straight then put into a tiny dark room. i mean. yikes. #postmortem #boogara

For the Postmortem: who took care of the baby while the parents were in solitary? Also, Shane, will we get any more Hot Daga?

Dear Shane and Ryan, i really love true crimes and I admire you both. Can you guys cover the unsolved crime here in the Philippines? “The Chiong Sisters.” It is a very controversial case, up until now it remains unsolved.

What if there's a cult that worships the old gods and they sacrifice people every year or the cops did it. #PostMortem #Icelandisbeautiful

No Hot Daga? All hail the Watcher

Shane’s reference to the lottery made me wonder, what is y’all favorite classic literature book?

ALL HAIL THE WATCHER

ok shane we get it you went to Iceland, stop flexing

#postmortem just curious, what happened to erla’s baby? You seemed to kinda just skip over it and I’m concerned. Also what’s your favorite mystery y’all have ever covered? This was a good ep.

#postmortem do you like Nutella?

#Postmortem the real question is WILL you guys be doing an unsolved paranormal season again?! Please say yes.

shane is truly an adult version of the college student "abroad changed me, bro" meme #roastmortem #verylightlyroasted

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network I suffered from false memories from the ages of 9-13 because of my OCD. They are horrific and make you feel as though you are going insane. The idea that the police can inflict this upon someone else, especially a young mother, makes me furious and sick to my stomach. My question to you is do you believe that there are other cases of false memory syndrome in true crime? Also, where is the Hotdaga?

I went on exchange in Iceland and talk abt it the same way Shane does but I cry abt missing my friends more. Shout out to My Friends.

#postmortem What if they were all working for one person, like the mafia or something? It seems weird that they all said they were a part of it and they had kind of the same story.

For post mortem: Could it have been possible that the two men that disappeared actually did so willingly, i.e. they wanted to leave the country but for some reason had to do so in secret? Is there anything in their background that could suggest that? (To be fair, now that I’m writing this I doubt it but it could be worth looking into)

hey, ryan + shane! please sing the following at 19:08 Remember me Though I have to say goodbye Remember me Don't let it make you cry For ever if I'm far away I hold you in my heart I sing a secret song to you Each night we are apart Remember me Though I have to travel far Remember me Each time you hear a sad guitar Know that I’m with you The only way that I can be Until you’re in my arms again Remember me

Ryan missed a perfect opportunity to quote Jurassic park with ah ah ah you didnt say the magic word

I miss the hotdaga :( I'm a boogara but I really wish they would bring the hotdaga back

I bet the people were like, dude! you were only supposed to murder once a year! now we gotta wait like three years to kill sum folks!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network - Can you do the Madeline McCann conspiracy/murder/kidnapping as it’s such a interesting case.

Not really related to the case, but how long is Buzzfeed Unsolved going to last? I mean there's a lot of unsolved cases out there, and maybe Goldsworth can make some more if you get what I'm sayin', but will you guys ever stop producing these in the nearish future? ~Ren P.S - Shane please bring back the Hot Daga. Or maybe a new series? The Cold Sandwicha!

UwU or OwO

For the Post Mortem: If you have a lot of people going missing in Iceland, wouldn't you want a group of people in the police specializing in missing persons?

For the post mortem: Thanks for the shout-out to this frozen rock, we need it. What most likely happened is that they got drunk and walked in one of those fields and fell into a crack in the ground. Even the glaciers here are spitting out 40 year old bodies of people that got lost up there. The rivers are even worse. You fall in, you're gone. Never found again. Love this country, do come visit! Lots of ghosts here too #Boogara

my theory is that it was all the Icelandic elves from folklore that got them or converted them or something.yes, definitely elves.

For Post Mortem: where there any consequences for the police officers who decided to do this to these possibly innocent people? Like has the law improved in Iceland?

#postmortem idk if you've answered this before, but why do you shadow the faces? is it to protect their identity (i.e. legal reasons) or for the aesthetic?

Can you guys do an unsolved on madeleine mccann please

Not really a question but can you guys PLEASE cover the death of George Reeves? It was ruled a suicide but none of it adds up and Superman deserves justice

not really a question but I still can't believe they made a clay sculpture rather than simple sketch. all hail the watcher I guess.

For the postmortem: What if the police knew and approved about the murders of them, and that's why they tried to find a quick, convenient solution, so the found criminals and forced false confessions? I don't know, it's just my theory. #shaniac #loveyoutwosomuch

#postmortem if you're looking for a name to call fans, why not "Bunnies" after the channel name, BUN? just thought it was neat

I miss your dangerously sexy accent already shane #postmortem

Oh no guys, I think Ryan is possessed. He's speaking in tongues! I mean that certainly isn't Icelandic! #roastmortem

Do y'all ever wanna do DnD based off of this show

For post mortem: they said that their memories were “foggy.” This could be a lie, but also consider that Saevar said he was going to support his new family by selling weed. If he had also been smoking it, That could have something to do with the foggy memory. As for the whole psychological aspect of solitary confinement, the Stanford Prison Experiment proved how weak human minds are when put in a state of confinement. However, they were in much more physically harsh situations then exclusively solitary confinement.

Shout out from iceland! How come you guys picked this case? And maybe you could do more and visit the sites ;D There are a lot of people who seemed to vanish into thin air :/

#postmortem What happened to Erla’s baby while she in solitary confinement all that time? And after her jail sentence?

#postmortem ... Who had the longest set of days in solitary confinement in a row, and how many?? Did any of them hold the world record for days spent at that time???

Here's my theory: The police did find the bodies but nothing came out of the medical examinations and they realized that they won't be able to solve the case. I'm guessing since murder cases were not common the police were inexperienced in that field. They decided it would be better to get false confessions from the suspects than to have an unsolved murder case. It's a small country so probably everyone heard about what happened and the police didn't want the whole country to freak out. What do you guys think?

@Ilmur Ösp oh damn really? I didn't realize, they sounded good to me that's why. Sorry

Hiiii! Can I be in one of the episodes? ( This is a question) which means it qualifies for your Post Morten episode.

Ok, but what happened to the baby??????

@Kathy Hemming are you serious? I'm Icelandic, and 99% of the pronunciations were completely off.

Were any of the "suspects" compensated for what they went through at the hands of the authorities? Ryan, great job on pronouncing all those names! Your hard work shows.

You guys should do an episode on the Phantom Killer of Texarkana.

Not a question . I just wanna say that Shane sounds like a grand dad talking about his past holidays to his grandkids when he talks about his trips to Iceland

If disappearances are so common in Iceland, surely there would have been more cases of other disappearances after Gudmundur and Geirfinnur went missing and between Saevar and Erla getting detained. Why would the police choose to interview Saevar and Erla specifically about them?

Can you guys cover Kurt Cobain?

For post mortem,,if disappearances and missing people are so common why didn't they have a strong missing person task force?

Maybe they “disappeared” because they did something and knew how lovely the justice system was

Yea, what the heck is a pop?

i wonder how long it took Ryan to try to pronounce everything. Good episode as always. best channel on youtube. #buzzfeedunsolved #hotdaga

I think the reason that there are no crimes in Iceland is because the government has no idea how to deal with them

What if those 2 men just got bored of perfect Icelandic lifestyle and left Iceland and didn't wanted to be found

If disappearances were so common, you would think they would have a better way to look into the past disappearances as well as these ones. Seems kind of sketchy that this case specifically went on so diligently for so long.

Why would they investigate these disappearences but not any other ones? Why was this one so special?

How do you guys pick which case to dive into? What sort of research do you guys and your team do to determine a good case to look into?

I have a question for you boo boys. What if they just gone off one day to a different country? Without saying a word to anyone. Maybe they had some unknown issues.

What’s a girl gotta do to get a date with Shane #AskingForFriend

Betcha the Einar-squared were picked up for suspicious activity, and never provided a confession for anything. Still in solitary today.

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network I was wondering why did the police officers put them in solitary confinement? Was it a common method to get people to confess to crimes back in those days?

Pleeeeease spanish subtitles you'll have a Lot more of viewers

#PostMortem which of the confessions do you guys believe is the true one, if any? there's reports that show the suspects were placed under duress before they confessed, so what's to say they weren't forced to "confess" to crimes they never committed?

Did that detective try lie detector tests on everyone?

For Post Mortem: Do you think a higher up was putting pressure on the investigators to solve the disappearances because of the lack of crime? Or do you think Investigators just wanted to look good for solving the crime? also Shane where is Hot daga? #Boogaraatheart

ryan: h- shane: yoU KNOW WHEN I WAS IN ICELAND-

Can I just say shout-out to Ryan for perfectly pronouncing these names and places in Iceland, I could barely sound them out and Ryan perfectly said them with a pretty good accent. How did you do it??

Not really a question, but something that needs to be said. I'm Icelandic, and you completely butchered every single pronunciation. Shame.

And Ryan. Sorry

Is the Hot Daga cancelled?

Omg, I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one that keeps talking about the beauties of Iceland! Which touristthings did you do Shane?

How come Shane is so awesome?

let's remember theres many a volcanos in iceland, i bet that at least one of those many disappearances are related to volcanoes calm, so really what I'm saying is I hope somebody was there on the volcano is that bad? I mean obviously I want them to be suffering but I mean if you throw a body in a volcano who gonna find it,,,, even in dormant volcanoes (like icland has)

For the #postmortem: What if the police were the ones to murder the missing men, and they covered it up by putting the six in solitary confinement because they didn't want the truth to get out.

who was taking care of erla’s baby while she was in solitary confinement??

Has Iceland put a system in place for crimes since this case?

Do we have an actual name for our fan group? Shane called us the Murder Heads but I was wondering about being called the BUNnies.

please bring back the hotdoga PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#postmortem The police were trying to make confetti into spaghetti with this case and somehow trying to create a confession as airtight as a sieve being used to store soup. #brainhurtstryingtounderstandicelandicpolice

OR! What if this was just a test on how the human brain reacts to solitary confinement? With the government allowing a false murder case to be investigated. (Hot Fuzz scenario prt 2)

For the Postmortem: I truly wonder why Gudmundur's friends did not give him a ride home when they saw him on the road. I mean... I am guessing they were all intoxicated, but what kind of friends are they to pass through their drunk as hell pal and not give him a hand? They are the true murderers in my opinion. I might have gotten a little bit overboard there. I don't know the whole story; however, I won't take that back. P.S. I discovered BUnsolved a couple of months ago and I've no regrets! You guys are awesome! Keep up with the good work! ^♡^)/ #shaniac #notallunsolvedcasesarecompletelyunsolvedshane #whatabadjusticesystem

It was aliens.

Hey boss, where is the hotdoga, I miss it :(

Why do you never solve the case

Aliens??

You should put Shane in solidarity confinement and see what he confesses to. Maybe he might finally admit that ghosts are real

How long did it take you to learn how to pronounce all these foreign names?

I need y’all to solve on who’s pearls mother

Maybe the country does murder one person once a year, as a happy group. And that’s why it was always remain...unsolved *spooky music* But really maybe it’s ANOTHER Hot Fuzz scenario?

Ayyy Shane, you have mentioned before that if you’re going to kill someone, you might as well have fun with it. So that begs the question, what would your serial killer flair be? #shaniacwithboonefits

For the postmortem what do you guys think is the most likely reason for the men's disappearance? Also Ryan, no aliens in this one? I thought you'd be jumping outta your bones to slide that one in

is the police still the same as 1970? it like they lazy at the time. those god-awful PIG!!!

This case made me soo triggered

I love the juxtaposition of polite, well-meaning Icelanders with the most horrendous, barbaric police work I've ever seen. Please tell me the surviving suspects received an incredible amount of compensation after all this?

Could it not be the cops? I mean putting a lot of probably innocent people in solitary confinement & forcing a confession seems awfully suspicious. Also, Ryan, how are you pronouncing all of those Icelandic names right but can't say February?

How frustrating was it to narrate this episode with those names?? #Boogara

Serious question for Postmortem Could you rank the most scariest places you and shane have visited. Love you dudes keep you the good work And All hail the *Watcher*

For the postmortem. What happened to the cops that put them in solitary confinement?

So I found out about this channel in Jan this year and I instantly knew that these ghoul boi’s were the best boi’s Please don’t change

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network Three days? Ryan, you regularly prove you can’t survive over five minutes alone in a room without going mad #bringbacktheroastmortem

What happen to the daughter??!?

What are yalls favorite songs rn?

Post Mortem: So, this doesn't really relate to the case, but has Shane ever been to Iceland? I don't know, I kind of got the vibe that he's been....Love ya boys! #postmortem

Q:Will you ever go to Indonesia to check some ghosts because we Indonesians have lots of ghosts stories

Have you guys ever considered doing a season of unsolved on cryptids? Ya know go out and hunt some of the worlds most famous spooky bois

Had they had really good investigators, do you think they could've solved this case? The police feel straight out of a Monty Python film. #FireUpTheRoom

Question: what if the false memory guy was the murderer and just thought it was a false memory but at the same time felt guilty so tried to get the other people off

For the post mortem: To get a little dark. If the two of you had a minor tiff and you know, murder happened (looking at you Ricky Goldsworth/Australian!Shane) what alibi would you use to stay outta trouble? #Boogara #PleaseBeNiceToEachOther

Question for the post mortem - is there a blooper reel of Ryan trying to pronounce those names?

Scale from 1 to 10 how savage is Shane?

This whole time we don’t even know that they were MURDERED, also crime never happens but DISAPPEARANCES do? Dozens in the past 50 years in a small country? Is this another Hot Fuzz case?

What if Gudmundur and Geirfinnur just went on an out of country vacation

Post Mortem: Unsolved disappearances shouldn't be common. Maybe you guys should investigate for a serial killer. Idk. Would a serial killer call a guy at home and have him come out so that he could be disappeared? Hmmm it did happen to Jimmy Hoffa.

How corrupt was the Iceland Justice system? Also Shane, tell more iceland stories.

Ryan why can you pronounce these names flawlessly but struggle with February. what goes on.

Question for post mortem: Of the unsolved mysteries yet to be done, what is one unsolved mystery you fear doing the most? P.s. love the show, have a wonderful day. Valar marghoulis

#BringBackTheHotDaga

For #PostMortem : Horrifying to think about the people who were, really, tortured into confessing. Since they never found the bodies, do you think it’s possible that they committed suicide, or somehow just died and never were found? Lots of love, from Scandinavia ♥️

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network can you guys make an episode but in ASMR

@It’s Dia No. Its perfectly fine

HOW many yrs they served in prison?

Post Mortem: it is shockingly easy to implant false memories, even without distress and harm. They managed to get tons of people to "remember" an encounter with Bug Bunny at Disneyland (literally impossible they are from different countries). I would not be surprised if the whole thing wasn't real. It's why we don't really value eyewitness evidence as heavily in court. It's too easy to manipulate, especially considering how individuals who are detained get treated. Adding solitary confinement and borderline torture, it's really easy to see how that could have happened.

There was a theory in an article I read that the bodies were put in the lava fields in Iceland. Though, the ground was frozen and it would have been nearly impossible to dig a grave there. The suspects were taken out there about 60 times and asked where the bodies were, but they were never found. Could this be a possibility?

Kendrick Johnson case or emmit till

this is seems like it's mostly just a case of police brutality. do you think it's possible the drunk dude just didn't get home that night because he was drunk? like fell in a ditch, was it snowing and he froze, etc.

Post mortem on murder of William Desmond Taylor

Nothing about this makes sense, theres no justified reason/ motives or really any connection between the victims and suspects which just makes the case seem impossible to solve. They probably just froze to death cause they were drunk

Even if they did do it, the amount of solitary confinement these people were given was torturous. Solitary confinement can be deemed inhumane if they get over a week. That one guy got over 2 years and his only socialization was with the police? There’s no way that’d be allowed anymore. Of course they’d confess after all of that, eventually you’d do anything to get out.

Could Mop Top Shane and Bergera Guitara be the greatest Beatles tribute band of our time?

I wonder why they were so bothered about finding the murderers for them if missing people were common? Why not assume they just went missing like everybody else? It makes no sense they were so focused on these 2 people if there are lots of other missing people cases.

Shane curly fries or straight cut?

But, will this question be read? :O

When is the Hotdaga (adored by all, of course) coming back?

#forthepostmortem So...the country has missing persons cases for YEARS and never solidified the creation of a missing persons task force? K cool. Also, love that Shane says "pop". That's the true Chicago Midwestern spirit right there :) #postmortem #buzzfeedunsolved

I'm surprised shane went for the body in the field instead of the classic 'no one will find it in the ocean' bit, lotta ocean around iceland.

what if they were abducted by aliens omg

#FORTHEPOSTMORTEM So listen, #1 People disappear and perish every year in Norway's wilderness. In the 60's it got so bad that the authorities created the Fjellvettreglene (mountain sense rules). I keep quoting them to people asking about hiking in Norway. #2- The guy who disappeared, Gudmundur Einarsson - so there were some drivers who some him walking on the road? Wouldn't testimony of this one guy exonerate the suspects (as long as the police's story or the story that the suspects came up with don't match the fact that he was spotted by drivers)? Or I guess the prosecution could just say that the person whom the drivers spotted was someone else and unrelated. #3- Saevar Ciesielski: Spent years trying to overturn his conviction. He moved to Copenhagen and ended up on the streets where he died in 2011 aged 56. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, but at some point got out? I feel like being the one "singled out," the one Elia turned on the quickest, and the one that got a life sentence, he would have been the most important one to interview for the investigation into the police procedures, although that happened in 2011 so it was too late. -Valentine #Loveyall #shanic #MydoglovesRyan

Iceland kinda works like the wickerman they choose a sacrifice to appease the Norse gods so Thor doesn’t blast them off the face of the earth

the main thing I wanna know is *_what happened to the baby??_*

Hey! Haha i can't imagine the torture that ryan went through while learning these Norse names . Also you won't be able to pronounce mine right . So however you said it .it's wrong.

Do Madeleine McCann next.

Why and how is Shane so awesome

I swearrr these search partiesare lazy af Also erla might of been friends with the disspeared person, and the missing bed sheet? Body? What was the head for? Probably a wax figure

For Post Mortem: I’m loving this season and so far I’ve loved all the cases you’ve covered. Can you give us any insight into more cases you’re covering this season? #shaniacs #murderheads #allhailthewatcher

For the post mortem - Did the suspects give any true motive for their “involvement” in killing those two men? Also, great episode you guys, I’m always looking forward to watching these unsolved videos!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network for post mortem I know this doesn’t really go along with anything but what happened to the baby? Did it live with family or did it just get pushed into foster care system?

I love how this all happened because they didn’t want their baby to be a Dane.

Shane, you're right about Iceland, I can't wait to visit!

could u elaborate more on how nice iceland was shane i dont think i quite got it

bellagrace I thought about this too! Why else would they force these people to confess in this way? (Other than supposed pressure from the community)

All hail the watcher. All hail the watcher. All hail the watcher?

For the Post Mortem! Shane I am going to Copenhague this Easter Break what should I see there. Ryan is there any Copenhague mystery

if there are so many people that go missing that it is part of Icelandic folklore, why do they not have a team to look for missing people, I am confused, it would of been so much easier. All the hail the watcher, bye

Not that I'm complaining, but where'd the hotdaga go? I had begrudgingly come to love it a little.

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network #postmortem Shane please tell us what you were referring to when you said “like the lottery” did you have that weird story about the stoning when you were in school too!?

Why wasn't there more people involved to solve this case? Why didn't they at least research what to do? whenever stories change they're not given much thought

For the #postmortem What happened to the police who “questioned” the suspects in the end? Did they ever get, I dunno, FIRED? Ps totally going to Iceland now.

for post mortem, do you think maybe the police had anything to do with the disappearances? just a theory :) #shaniacs

Now that the case is reopened. Any guesses guys of what the probability will be that a real suspect will be found? Oh and #bogara

For #postmortem: how come missing people are common, but no goverment bodies tasked with finding missing people? Also, why are you spoiling us? So many videos in so little time? What's with that? Love you guys #shaniaconthestreetsboogaraonthesheets #shitfish

If the common disappearing theory was accurate, why wouldn’t this town have a missing persons task force?

What are your favorite music genres/albums/songs/artists?

For the postmortem : What do you guys think about what happened to the baby? Who looked after the baby?

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network can please do some of these from West Virginia

#postmortem did the jail have anything to do with the two guys who died (not the "murdered" ones)

Do an episode of RPG of online

For the Post-mortem: Couldn't these folks ask for a lawyer? Is Iceland's justice system still horrible? And most importantly, I love Shane mentioned pop. We call it pop in Southwestern PA, and folks from other parts of the state sometimes poke fun.

How long does it usually take to research these cases, and how many of you guys research them? Love you guys

Thoughts on secret suspect ricky goldsworth #postmortem

Great pronunciations Ryan! How is this case fair? I feel like the law enforcement put the confessions in their mouthes. Maybe the law enforcement did know about the disappearances but they had to hide something so they forced the confessions. Did they have trauma or any other mental problems after this? Did Iceland's punishment system change after this? I sure hope so. Love y'all!

Are we getting more Hot Daga soon?

#postmortem Were their means of getting a confession legal at the time? And are they still legal?

What if the police we're involved in this and thats why they were so rushed to get a confession

#postmortem This is textbook forced confessions like they didn’t even find the bodies

How would 6 people murder 2 people?it takes 1 person to kill 2 people. Like 6 people killing 2 people, that's just ridiculous.

Here we go, a submission for the #burnzone. Y'all look funny.... I know I'm a savage. Sorry, I just can't be contained.

For the post mortem: Hey uhhh,, I know that coercion of a confession is illegal in the US, were there no laws like this in Iceland at the time??? Are there preventative laws against this now?? Also (even though I know it took place during the 70’s) during all the interrogation scenes I was imagining like,, 1940’s corrupt cops in pinstriped suits lmao

#postmortem If Ryan's alter ego is Ricky Goldsworth, then who is Shane's alter ego? Would he be nicer than Ryan or meaner than Shane? Would Ricky walk all over him? Would the two alter egos ever do a video of BUN supernatural? We need to know!

Also thank you for posting such great content

Did they ever question them about where the body's were and what was the country's reaction?

Why does Ryan kinda look like elvis? #RoastMortem

(For Post Mortem) Not about this episode, but I just have to know. In your opinion, if you drop soap onto the floor, is the soap dirty or is the floor cleaner? Love you both xx

@Icy Fire This!!

The new season is awesome. My question: Do you think that Ciesielski, Vidarsson, Skaftason, Skrapheoinsson, Bolladottir and Leifsson were charged wrongly? I did some research and I found out that before they caved in and confessed to the crime, they were detained and forced to be subjects of sleep deprivation, water torture, forced drug intake (two types of drugs that if consumed in excess can cause amnesia) . And as Ryan said they went as far as putting Ciesielski and Leifsson on solitary confinement for over 600 days and Erla Bolladottir was separated from her baby daughter, she confessed only to see her baby again. I believe they were pressured to confess by the police (As seen with the Leifsson diaries, where he writes that he only confessed to get out and see his friends and family again) , and wrongly charged of murder and/or complicity. I'm going to research more about it, but what do you guys think? #Boogara #Bringbackthehotdagga

oof zoe I’ll answer your question cuz I’m from Iceland. Ok Iceland is a good place if you want to explore, it’s not a place if you want to go to the beach or enjoy the sun, it’s far from that. It rains here literally 200 days a year the other 165 it’s snowing ok we get a little sun but still. From may 21 till July 30 the sun barely sets and around June 21 the sun is up 24 hours. But in winter it’s always dark and cold. Everyone is good here and we barely have any crimes. The people are nice, we have the best horses! The nature here is at another level, we literally have everything if you want to explore. And we have free water!

My question would be how Ryan got to learn to pronounce those places and names. I could barely read them. Postmortem.

#postmortem What was the most intriguing part of this case for you two? Was it the overall disappearance or the theories that followed?

How long did take you to pronounce all those name, never mind trying to remember them dude your magic

where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga where is the hotdoga

For the postmortem. Okay so I think u guys should redo the Zodiac Killer Episode. Sense that is an old episode maybe there could be more information than there was before. BTW DID RICKY GOLDSWORTH KILL THE HOT DOG!!!! or did Ricky kill the Australian Shane????!!!!

live long shaniacs!

Will there be another Hot Daga? #postmortem

For post mortem. What websites do you use to do all the research? By the way I’m from Missouri and you should do a paranormal investigation on the Lemp mansion. Love you both. Hopefully my question gets on post mortem I try all the time and never get picked. I will watch this Friday to see if my question made it.

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network hey spooky boys what’s up. so this isn’t really a question but i just wanted to say, i love the hot daga

For the post mortem:Did you guys get chewed out for cursing? I kinda miss it tbh

Hey boys

why do people always insult ryan’s hair? i personally love it. also, i’m a shaniac when it comes to ghosts, but a total boogara for demons. is it weird that i don’t believe in both?

I have a few questions s for the post mortem. In the La Llorona episode, I think they meant put you hand in the box. The box could have been the little exhibit in the church for her. Also, could you do an episode about Han Min Lee. Right now in class, we have to right an essay about if Adnan is innocent or guilty. I know how it feels to be tormented by La Llorona stories.

Do you guys have any teachers that you remember? For good or bad reasons?

I agree what’s you favorite case?

for the post mortem: is shane still a shaniac like he always is? XD

For the Postmortem: Gonna ask this again, because I have no new ideas. What are your guys' favorite SOLVED case? Love you both, and the episodes have been fascinating this season! Can't wait for the next episode! #Boogara #Shaniac #ChoosingIsOverrated

Do the murder of Joseph Bowne Elwell please

Can you do the Madeline Macann case

this is unrelated to the video but if Shane ever narrated audio books I wouldn't mind

In the “ben franklin sex cult” video, sara is wearing a real cool sweater. where’d she get it?

How’s Ricky? Murder anyone... Australian recently?

where are the subs :(

I use to believe in ghost until i saw how ridiculous ryan looks when he gets scared and I thought i must look like that sooooo that definitely needs to change, idk might just be me, keep up the good work shane.

How long did it take for Ryan to get the basics of the pronunciations down? I’m pretty impressed!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network @post mortem Shane, how was your trip in ice land?

What is your favorite type of cookie? How did Erla get a new bedsheet? They typically dont sell single ones... How are these confessions even slightly valid after such a long period in solitary? This was a ridiculous episode.... @Post Mortem

Why can Ryan pronounce the town names but not the English word “February”

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network I have a question for post mortem (for Shane). Where did the hot daga go?! Is there some conspiracy here I dont know of? Is Ricky goldsworth going to kill Shane if he makes another season? I must know!!!

My question is that how did they find out that but no bodies what could have happened?

When a country does something like this the us just gotta come in with a few bombers and tell em to knock it off

Ryan here was flexin on shane the whole episode lol XD

please can you do a scariest level of each episode, so i know which ones to avoid!?

They tried. Lol.

January 26 is my dad's birthday

ccan you make a video about the “GIVE UP TOMORROW DOCUMENTARY” about Paco Larranaga who is mistakenly accused of raped. please make a video about it, it is so mysterious and depressing.

*gσииα тυяи ι¢єℓαи∂ ιитσ gяєєиℓαи∂, в α в у*

Considering that if these people did killed the victims, Iceland police's method isn't cruel at all. I hope if law enforcers are sure that a suspect did the crime and they have lots of damning evidence against the suspect, then using this method might be very effective to fish out confessions. If you step on the human rights of others, your rights should be dissolved and rendered annulled, and you ought to be considered no more than a pest.

Is it just me or does the mannequin seem to move just a tiny bit in alot of the videos?

0:54 wtf it's 2 am in here too

if they used those techniques now to try and get a confession, the whole case would be thrown out. Murderer or not, humans shouldn't be treated like that.

This whole case just pisses me off.

Iceland is honestly still the best country that I’ve ever been to

Who else saw that at 5:30, the police was called "churo"? Is that a diffrent languge, or just a Mexican treat?

I was in Reykjavik, Iceland last year. It was sooo peaceful.

no one: shane: i wEnT tO iCeLAnd

Fairly certain the large open fields Shane was talking about are the lava fields. Not only is the mossy nature fragile but it's dangerous. I remember being told once that people would get their legs stuck and break them from falling into hidden holes just large enough for a leg to get in but not get out. Then they'd be stuck there, out in the large open fields with no one around as far as the eye can see... But really, Ryan, we have a ghost museum that you need to see!!!! Allegedly it's actually haunted!!! Buzzfeed unsolved supernatural in Iceland lesgetit

Who wants to bet that Shane was being boated to solitary confienment

Me: *breathes* Icelandic police: slowly opens solitary door

Icelanders are very nice, that is true Faroese should learn from them Impolite shitshdlshqksuals

Gudmundur isn’t that hard to say, like the ‘D’ doesn’t sound unusual, that would be a ‘Ð’, which isn’t used in Icelandic Erla isn’t that hard to say either, the ‘RL’ is just ‘R’, ‘L’ they don’t double as another sound Although, double ‘L’ does sometimes sound like ‘DL’, but not in this case Okay no one asked, but I did, so hA! I will leave and eat my nooder now bAi

These names man. So easy, yet no one seems to be able to say them correctly. OMG A GIRL’S NAME IS ‘BOLLADOTTIR’ HAHAHHA I’M DYING

I died a bit every time he mispronounced a name. Nice try though

Ok the only reason Shane called Iceland like heaven is because he been there, but then throwed to earth.

10:16 voice crack

Future Trip to Iceland Status: Cancelled

These names got me laughing the entire time

Last theory should have been : the police killed the two people and tried to force the "suspects" to confess by using solitary confinement

when I saw reykjavik confessions I said : reyknavnfnkdun confessions

The way you pronounce Reykjavik physically pains me

these names tho..

i typically watch this at night.... the biggest mistake of my life

Suspect: *does nothing* Police: Solitary confinement!

Stunning... Vistas

Funny that Icelanders say solitary confinement when the whole island is solitary confinement

I I need I need to I need to stop I need to stop watching I need to stop watching these I need to stop watching these at I need to stop watching these at night I need to stop watching these at I need to stop watching these I need to stop watching I need to stop I need to I need I I just wasted 10 seconds of your life

Shane : Iceland is breathtaking Me : you breathtaking

I watched the film about this on Netflix with my family last night... it was a really odd case.

Do you guys see the body standing behind them? 8:44

im from iceland

Sounds like blood houndr

BuzzFeed Unsolved Network nobody ever died there, but the Nunica Cemetery in Michigan is the most chilling place I've ever been to, I'm sure you'd be intrigued to go once/if you research it. It's said as the most haunted place in Michigan and there's many stories of people growing cold in 70 degree weather, hearing voices, and seeing things fall from trees

I love these names lol

If I get murdered I want it to be done sooooo neatly that the only thing left to suspect it was a theory about fxcking ghost

When they say there names it sounds like radio edited curse words

12:30

Imagine they just both got drunk and where like “Hey YAh wAnNA go diSsaPear and ScaRe Th..tHe COuntRy” “Ye..yEah....suRe” And then got lost in the snow camping

Iceland so fire I love the weather but damn nobody safe in the safest place in the world

When wars this bc i live in Copenhagen

This is reminding me of 'When They See Us' on Netflix. Police using extreme measures like physical abuse and solitary confinement to obtain confessions while no real detective work is being done.

7:25 is *no one* going to point out that Kristjan Vidar's last name is Vidarsson

Let's all go to Iceland!

What the heck Iceland?!? She had a baby! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BABY!?!?

That dummy in the background is so of-putting.

Nobody: Not a single sole: Shane: In Iceland-

It seems like the Icelandic Police tormented poor People into confessing to Murders they didn't do.

COPENHAGEN!!!!!!!!!!

Hako jobo lokq shol

Someone made 6 people confess for a crime they might not have done? The Watcher #allhailthewatcher

You can’t compare Iceland and the US. If they had just as many people there would probably be just as many murders there.

No one : Absolutely no soul: Icelandic lady: *wE WilL dO a mUrRdEr ABoUt oNcE A yEAr*

It seems like in Iceland they tell you your crime wether you did it or not is out of question

Iceland got names pretty hard to spell so much that the captions started showing "say bar C sales key" instead of Saevar Ciesielski

Unsolved should do a case on the tribe that went missing in North Carolina Croatan

Theory: "ALIENS"

Wait...his friends saw him hitchhiking with another man & they didn't pick him up? Wtf?

Only Icelandic people will understand... Kókómjólk...

what if the two men were just too drunk to get home, fell into some ice, died from freezing to death and that's it

all hail the watcher i guess

Love this one!

With both of the deceased names being the same, it almost has to be a terminator from the future trying to ensure the survival of Skynet.

Really?? Always with the AI!?

This is actually just heart breaking

A drink idiot dies in the snow another idiot gets murdered on a boat

Wow, police is trash all over the globe

Does this case remind anyone of black ops 1 how they keep asking questions?

Lol still laughing at how he pronounced 'gudjon'

how tf is he pronouncing these names

this is so tragic

these names r silly

what if these missing people were just done living in iceland so they made it look like a disappearance but actually restarted somewhere. and that’s why can’t find them.

when he steals candlesssssssss

2:37 that’s what she said

Is anyone else going to question how many peoples names start with a G

*Jesus Christ just s t o p*

Hey PSA If you commit a crime it's best not to return to this country in which you Committed the crime...

Dec 20th is my B-day.... Oh no!!!!

But can we please show some appreciation for Ryan, because he must work so so so hard for these videos.

"gonna turn iceland into greenland, baby" hahahaha

What’s his name?

TIL: DON'T put people in solitary confinement

Man, even if Ryan isn't saying the names 100% correctly, he's very confident about it.

rekavik...

Ahh yes buzzfeed unsolved, the place you go at three am when you can’t sleep!

Central Park five similarities??

2:40 that’s what she said

Maybe these men just wander off somewhere, got lost, and died of exposure. It seems more likely than six people conspiring to kill two random people.

hey so at 6:55 did you or shane tap cause you can hear two faint taps or bangs in the audio

Who watching the baby

Sick episode!

Solitary confinement is literally torture ... the fact that they did this when they didn't even had a body is fucked up.

Rip to whoever clicked the description of the video

The 70’s were a big time for mysterious and horrific murders

I live in Reno Nevada

Is no one going to talk about the Murderheads?

ok isn’t it weird how missing cases aren’t uncommon in iceland but they don’t have a missing persons unit? i think they contradicted themselves on that one.

"The Lottery" is a GREAT story. In the middle of every video you all have made. LOVE THEM!!!!

Gudmunder? How tf Ryan can pronounce these names

Ryan: Shane: wHeN i WaS iN iCeLaNd

10:52

Great video just like always! Only problem I had was it was really hard to keep up with who wAs who because of the confusing names. Other than that awesome job guys

no one: shane: iceland is BEAUTIFUL

What the police have done is even even more cruel than those people... though they are still cruel (if they really did it)

This case reminds me of Central Five.

Im related to Laura Law who was murdered with an icepick in Aberdeen a small logging town in Washington. Her husband was in the union and there’s theories that the FBI killed her. Completely unsolved, multiple theories, spooky Washington lumber town, her name is friggin Laura law, not many people have heard of the case despite it being relatively famous at the time and more than anything I just want to hear what jokes Shane would make given an icepick as a murder weapon. Also Aberdeen has a long history of murder! Including a famous murdered named Billy the ghoul! Known as the hellhole of the pacific!! It’s perfect pls give my family the honor of some bad Shane jokes

I love that ryan cant pronounce February , but he can those names.

This is giving me central park 5 vibes

Any other Icelanders here?

these names jesus christ

Torturing people into confessing to a murder may not have actually done... nice.

it's a terrible feeling, but part of me is pleasantly surprised that a horrifying story of police brutality DIDN'T come from my country.

What a horrible justice system

Do you guys think it was the watcher all along?

12:13 it says that Albert was a victim

Jeez what did they think that doing solitary would do?

"Maybe it wasn't a nightmare." The Watcher, cackling:

People get locked in Solitary Confinement for 700 days.... ALL HAIL THE WATCHER

Rubber sheets hahahahahahahahahhaahaha

What is with all these people they have German names this is Iceland

10:13 his voice went

All of the names sound so made up lollollolk

damn i was barely paying attention until i suddenly heard Reno, Nevada mentioned

Needs to be a horror Movie.

Why aren't these so called "police officers" got sued or anything? . A bad justice, through and though.

Is it just me or is ryans voice is nice to hear? Every single word is pronounced well and clearly said.

No one: Me: so what happened to the ladies baby?

Conspiracy theory: Iceland is a cult.

Am I the only one who is wondering where baby is!

the guy on the left looks like he's always high but he never is

Same thing happened with my teacher... he later brought a gun to school and fired a shot out his window and was in a standoff with police

They think that we think they're "sleepy" but they must be faded lmaoo

I've read that Iceland is the most crime free country

Scary thing is that American cops us that technic today and quite a lot of innocent people get convicted with it.

What if someone was looking for einarsson but didn’t know what he look like

What you wanna bet the 2 dudes ran away together and had no clue they left behind a huge mess

I was thinking, what if the 6 people were lying and then boom! there talking about it

I know someone who falsely confessed to having murdered his brother who committed suicide, if his story wasn’t so obviously false he would still be in jail today and likely for the rest of his life.

solitary confinement should be illegal.

nilla wafers why not?

no, no it should not

Thats a long time in the cooler, even for McQueen.

0:41 IS THAT BUTTERBEAR FROM HARRY POTTER??!!?!??!

Hid pronunciation is atrocious...

Every year, all citizens of Iceland come together to see which person they will sacrifice for/to the Ice Gods.

You could honestly slowly walk around Keflavik twice in 45mins

Funny that they mentioned Copenhagen cause I am currently traveling in Copenhagen now. What are the odds? =D

Poor baby

Say bruce lee why are you pronouncing Albert so fancy keep it real

Icelandic people are sick and wrong. What they did to these 6 people was basically torture and really illegal. This is very wrong and inhumane. I feel sorry for these 6 people. I mean damn!!! That's very wrong and horrifying.

I call ufo

His name is like when i bash my head to the keyboard

ok haha i from iceland and its funny when you trying to say icelandic words hahahah guðmunur ekki gudmunur hahha

Fosters Tavern; Spartanburg sc

Ryan: *pronounces all these Slavic names perfectly* Also Ryan: “febiary” “janiary”

Im from Iceland Halló allir frá íslandi

ryan does the research, presents the information, and shane is the peanut gallery

Wow this is weird

Can you do one on the dissaperance of Australian woman Lyn Dorson

Lol if they saw him why did they not pick him up great friends they are

no one: hi- shane: ICELAND

They are making Iceland look all snowy but it’s actually the complete opposite of Greenland. Greenland is snowy and Iceland is pretty green so....

Honestly what they did to them should be a crime it self

*Officer Shrift voice* “Guilty, guilty, I’ve never seen anyone so guilty.”

jesus the police in iceland really had no moral code back then huh

Why are they all quiet

It was a cop imo

*nO* i didn’t buy the rubber sheets!

i’m telling my dad, who went to iceland in 2000 for military purposes, about this cause he didn’t know about it. thank you unsolved!

What happened to those 6 people is horrendous!

Umm we gonna talk about how good ryans pronunciation

Let Erla take care of her baby oh my god that little child where are they?

YOY! This is my home country! It was the worst case in Ísland.

I think the most important thing y'all missing is that the pigs basically was torturing these people.

15:12 that voice crack

I understand the job of the police is to solve crimes but isolating people until they confess is not solving cases. As well as being abusive, that's lazy police work.

Ryan, that hairstyle is A+. Love it.

Oh god I hope I don't become a suspect, because I barely remember what I did in the last two hours.

Ok so ..I guess im a murderhead huh

This reminds me so much of the central park five. People happened to be in the right place for police to question them, then were manipulated and practically tortured into going along with whatever the police told them so that they could be let out. They heard each others stories and thought they'd be set free if they just lied and admitted to it. They were fooled into it and ended up having their lives ruined.

They like solitary confinement.

I'm beyond shocked their is nothing the whole of Iceland cab do to repay these men and woman I'm most shocked that they did that to a new mother

Doing that to a new mother is disgusting I can see how they got her to do this especially when they never had a case like this

Why are all nordic countries like that? Every country really north( exept Russia) have such kind happy people and have such low crime rates. Why?

Hate watching the ones that dont have shane, just not the same lol

no one: absolutely no one ever: icelandic police: SOLITARY CONFINEMENT

it was peobably one of them! no other deaths happened after

In most times I watch buzzfeed unsolved I get scared, this time I got angry, this poor people where tortured to confess

I’m Icelandic and hearing them say something in Icelandic just makes me cringe

Anyone else wondering what happened to Erla's baby?

You made a good effort pronouncing the Icelandic words, for someone who doesn’t speak Icelandic. Seriously, I’m impressed! (I’m Icelandic)

I was about to rewatch this, but then I remembered how sad it was, assuming all of them were innocent.

Ryan: *pronounces all these Icelandic names perfectly* Also Ryan: *feBeEArY*

Solitary confinement? Ha, more like padded alone time! To get anything out of me, you should put me in a car with five other people in the summer with no AC

As an icelander i hate your pronounciation of any icelandic words

I'd be aye-okay in solitary confinement. I barely even leave my room...

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha

Ha ha

alexa w ha

I'd honestly just confess to a murder I didn't do if I got arrested by cops tbh

both missing guys are in the confinement room and they tell everyone to keep it secret and people are playing along

These cops trained in the CIA during the run up to the Iraq war.

is ruining history coming back?

U r picking amazing cases n I like Sherlock Holmes type of cases ...

Fair point, but all I do is sleep.

But you don't have any forms of entertainment, and barely get food or water

i feel like im to stubborn i live pretty isolated as it is and spite would prevent me from confessing

Imagine being convicted of murder and put into solitary confinement only to find out a decade later the victims are all living in a small hut with their wife and 2 sons

i love how he says the names

Currently watching from Iceland as I do my emails :D

Do the Traverse city MI state hospital!

I love y'all

You really murder the icelandic names.

i officially don’t like Iceland, they crazy

props to Ryan for holding it together while pronouncing these names

@3:54 these names tho

This case is so wrong on the police's part. Torture is definitely wrong and illegal. I feel sorry for these people. This is why the justice system is so damn corrupt.

im from iceland and ive never heard of this event

I'm currently in Iceland, there is no better time to watch this than now.

This story really shocked me to the core. And after all these years and ruined lives Erla is still in jail for perjury. the cops should be the ones doing time for perjury.
