check your privilege edition put a finger  down if you have been called a racial slur   put a finger down if you've been followed in a  store unnecessarily put a finger down if someone   has crossed the street to avoid passing you put  a finger down if you've had someone clinch their   purse in an elevator with you put a finger down if  you've had someone step off of an elevator to keep   from riding with you put a finger down if you've  been accused of not being able to afford something   expensive put a finger down if you have had fear  in your heart when being stopped by the police   put a finger down if you have never been  given a pass on a citation that you deserved   put a finger down if you have been stopped  or detained by police for no valid reason   put her finger down if you have been bullied  solely because of your race put a finger down   if you have been denied service solely because of  the color of your skin put a finger down if you've   ever had to teach your child how not to get killed  by the police any fingers left that's privilege i don't know why we're not willing to acknowledge  the fact that landlords do not do labor simply   they take money away from the working class  through passive income and when we look at   uh this this uh specific ordinance that they're  talking about which is the runners writers and i   actually did get into it with jeremiah tattersall  over this because i did oppose it and i posed it   for a simple reason which is that over the  last 10 years there has been a consolidation   of rental properties in this city there  are a few large landlords who collect   the properties of smaller slumlords when they  get out of the business and those landlords   are worse than the small-time landlords but the  issue is that the small-time landlords have no   interest in selling to the single families who  would like to live in those homes because they   can make more by bundling the properties together  and selling them to the larger landlords and then   you have people like alligator realty who are  unresponsive and do not do the repairs that   they should be doing and it doesn't matter what  ordinance you've implemented because at the end   of the day the landlord who is collecting the  properties is shitty at the job we need to take   steps to decommodify housing we need to take homes  we're going to have rental properties because we   have a college in the city but we need to figure  out a way for those folks who do want to live here   who want a home hi we need to figure out a way to  get us into these rental properties take them off   the rental market now you have people living in  a home who care about the home who are going to   put the work into it to keep it up and ensure  that it can be passed on to future generations i just got home from lunch with my girlfriend at  lunch we were sitting next to two kids i would   say one was like 16 and one was maybe less than  10. we start overhearing the older one explained   to the younger one gender they do it so well  like so seamlessly so chill they're just like   you know that stuff about gender it's all made up  and everybody uses different pronouns really goes   into depth about neopronouns she they he they  pronouns explains all of it so well so easily   and the little one whose only response was oh  yeah i have a friend like that and then they   just go on to drink a milkshake and eat some  fries meanwhile me and my trans girlfriend are   literally staring at each other like holding  back tears because that's the way that i wish   people would have interacted with my gender  expansiveness when i was that age i'm just so   grateful for the future and if you're one of those  little ones that are explaining things or making   a difference i hope you know that you inspire  me so much and i'm so proud that you're here hello hello hello hello it's a [ __ ] pleasure if you take a rat and you drop it all alone in a  cage with nothing but two water bottles one foot   with normal water and one foot with morphine water  that rat will do nothing but drink that morphine   water until it eventually kills itself and dies  if you take that same rat and you put it in a   rat park instead with other rats to socialize  with toys to play with and treats to work for   even with the morphine water in  their cage these rats will never   get addicted what's particularly interesting is  that study where the rats became addicts that   study was actually used to justify the war  on drugs but surprise surprise looks like it   should have been a war on isolation  boredom and lack of purpose instead here's a list of five movies that are actually  anti-capitalist let's start out with an obvious   one not only is wally one of the best animated  movies of the last 20 years it's also a scathing   indictment of american consumerism wally  lives in a future where the earth has been   consumed by garbage and humans have been  reduced to obese immobile couch potatoes   10 out of 10 no notes office space might come off  like a zany workplace comedy but it's actually   about karl marx's theory of alienation when  work is so mundane tedious and exploitative   that you dissociate from your own existence  one of the characters in this movie tries   to kill himself because of how miserable  he is though i'm sure there will still be   libertarians in the comments who say well if he  doesn't like his job he can go get a better job   jumanji okay just just go with me for a second  on this one so when robin williams character   disappears into jumanji his father becomes  so distraught that his shoe company collapses   which ultimately plunges the entire town into  financial ruin and jungle related devastation   this is not a movie about a magical board game  it's about urban industrial decay and yes you may   steal this idea for your college thesis who framed  roger abbott is low-key one of the most hardcore   anti-cap films in existence judge doom's plan is  to dismantle the la public transportation system   demolish toontown and then sell that land to  real estate developers this movie is about   privatization it's also a straight-up allegory  about the historical displacement of marginalized   communities in los angeles except instead of black  and latino people it's bugs bunny and mickey mouse   i mean this movie should have won every single  oscar the year it came out finally you've got mail   so in this movie meg ryan's character owns a small  bookstore and tom hanks's character owns a chain   of national bookstores which puts meg ryan's  bookstore out of business and even though he   destroys her entire livelihood she still wants to  be with him at the end this movie is not a rom-com   it's a psychological thriller about  the effects of market consolidation think they're [ __ ] with the unemployment numbers oh they absolutely are you know on one hand  they'll talk about this is the lowest rate of   unemployment in like what 40 50 60 years what the  [ __ ] ever but at the same time we've had record   numbers of jobless claims and unemployment claims  in decades as well they talk about all this hiring   that they're doing and it's 100 to justify those  ppp loans which we know for a fact that like so   many companies are committing fraud to get and of  course we know that they're not counting all the   people who have been looking for jobs since covet  but just have stopped because it's just so hard   the invisible unemployed it is 100 propaganda  they're putting a band-aid over a gunshot wound   and they don't know what to do everything that  they're saying how this is fun no they are the   dog in their burning room right now capitalism  is the guy in the suit hiding his zombie bite why do people always say ridiculous when  they could say regaculous and how can i   help to fix this transphobic divide  because frankly this is ridiculous it is good to listen to criticism but it's also  good to be strong and not to compromise on your   principles being a leftist or a marxist or  socialist does mean having empathy on some   level empathy for your class as well as various  oppressed groups but that doesn't mean just having   so much empathy to the point where you're weak  or where other people can control your positions   you have to read a bunch and educate yourself  to know what your principles are and then you   have to stand on those principles unless you're  given alternative evidence that shows you your   principles are wrong or they need to be changed  you shouldn't change your principles just because   a whole bunch of people are mad at you which is  something that happens in leftist circles a lot   there's like a whole mob of people i like to  call them rad libs and a lot of them will get   pretty vicious if you stand on your principles  whether they be anti-imperialist principles or   just principles that some people online disagree  with these people will try to make you feel really   bad but you don't have to conform to them because  they try and make you feel bad if they can only   insult you and they can't show you why you're  wrong with evidence just block them what i learned there is so much wrong with capitalism uh like  where do you even start but when a business   dies its carcass is haunted by the spirit of  halloween and that's beautiful that's beautiful if you're 200 plus pounds in queer  show me your 200 plus pounds in queer   i want my for you page like i like my for you page  fabulous fat and freaky well how would you like   it if the fbi rated the democrat to do it rate  them investigate them charge them lock them up   most of congress engages in insider trading on a  regular basis that's a [ __ ] crime lock them up   say that the difference between us and you  is you only want the law to apply to the   people you don't like we want it to apply  equally to everyone like it's supposed to we're building it to break it back down to burn it down every 90 minutes a person like this gets a  dirty look from an old white woman because   of the outfit they're wearing if you're getting  looks like this keep killing it you look great i see it coming down   okay now smile from my friends i'm gonna need to smile like a normal person so  that your parents like these pictures come on   no not like nevermind that's fine that's  the best we're gonna do here you go i trade you your bones for this oh no you make trade huh you make trade i  like my phones no i can you give me your bones   your bones for this no no i i i no i i have access  to the internet i know this is a bad idea no but what you fail to understand is that the body  positivity movement isn't about insecurity and   a simple google search would have answered that  the body positivity movement was started by fat   black women to create representation for  marginalized bodies you see i didn't say   the word insecurities and yes everybody  has insecurities and it sucks to be able   to deal with them but that's not what  the movement was for you're welcome   to be in the movement but it shouldn't center  thin white women because that's just the standard   why does there need to be a movement for a  standard but in turn it will help with insecurity   because we're creating representation the more  representation we have the less insecure people   will feel but i have a feeling you already  knew that you just didn't want to listen 10 but he's a 10 but he still is at home  with this mommy hey dollar store katy perry   um pop punk and punk in general should not be used  to punch down at people who are socioeconomically   doing worse off than you [ __ ] off hey  turn down that music before i call the cops   yes i realized that this is my party i noticed you  took a shot there what's your venmo dude the party   just started i'm not drunk enough for hip-hop  music i was invited so i'm drinking your liquor   i don't make the rules i just benefit from them  before everybody hates me for bringing about life   remember we had some working-class roots at some  point maybe i know the perfect party song i know   the artist is problematic but we have to be able  to separate the music from the groom i didn't   steal it i seized the means of inebriation  the thing next to you is a pain in the ass when your leftism doesn't come from a love for  people so somehow this ended up being a very   controversial take um and from looking  through the comments over the past month   which i've been trying not to do but i've seen  some of them um i've come to the conclusion that   a lot of you are a eco-fascists who believe  that all of humanity is equally responsible   for climate change and therefore we should  all go extinct or limit our population um or b   you just have a very narrow individualistic  perception of what love is and what it   means to love something like literally from  so many of the comments i saw those are the   two things it boiled down to and i just want  to ask some of you why is it so reasonable and   understandable for you to hate humanity but  so crazy for you to be able to love humanity i can't go out i'm sick boo you [ __ ] you have finally made it to black joy talk don't  you dare live cause black joy is important i said   stay just a little recap in case you didn't know  black joy is very important because black people   does not equal pain slavery trauma immigration  all of that struggle you can be black and   happy my name is zion i recommend black movies  and books so here are some black joy movies   that you should watch without further  ado ladies and gentlemen let's dive in   did you know that beyonce and jennifer youtube  were actually in the same movie together yes   i know dream girls is basically  like your classic movie   of a girl band who wants to make you big but  obviously has struggles while doing so you   know the song listen to a song hearing my voice  well it comes from that movie next is girls trip   barbie is that you let me set the scene you're  having a girls night and you want to have some fun   watch this movie akilah in the bee i absolutely  love this film it's with the queen kiki palmer   yeah it's basically the story of a very smart girl  who makes it very far in spelling competitions   last but not least little by the same producers  who did girls trips so if you like girls trip   you're gonna love little little is basically  the story of this boss who thinks she's all that   and then she gets gust or something and basically  she wakes up being like her like 15 year old   self it's hilarious you go watch just movies  now okay what are you doing on friday night   oh chick black baby sir exactly now if you  want black joy tv shows recommendations   or books follow along and if you want to  know all about black films black books   be part of an amazing online community check the  comments below what are you doing on friday night what temperature do you keep the restaurant  thing see here you have stuff that um is on   the kid's menu are adults allowed to or just  describe like the lighting to me like what's the   vibe you think someone would be weird if they say  brought their markers and crap just the latitude   and longitude just so i know exactly struggling  with anger is fairly common for autistic people   okay the scale represents the intensity of your  emotions and when you start getting up around   like a five or a six that's when you start  acting irritable this is overly simplistic   i just want to help you understand and recognize  when you start getting up around five or six right   being autistic doesn't mean that i don't  recognize emotions for me it means that   almost everything aggravates me in some way  that's why i think it would be good for you   to understand the scale this is geared towards  like kindergartners do i struggle with anger at   times do i want to work on it absolutely but  i need something that's like for phd students   i think you're not quite understanding how the  scale can help no i i understand it so well that   my model has three tell you what i'm going to  show you my model and then we'll go from there   fine these are boilers tank ones connected to  tank two tank two is connected to tank three   there's a valve in between each one of them so i  can control how much steam travels between them   what are the tanks represent the first one is  what my body is experiencing the second one is   what i'm feeling and then the third one is what  i'm showing externally how is what your body's   experiencing different from what you're feeling  this is physiological i'm aware of it but it's   like data and it's usually about the same pressure  as what i'm feeling but that's more emotional so   as the pressure comes into tank one it's usually  working in tandem with tank two to release the   pressure at a pretty steady pace as and i feel  my emotions and they dissipate naturally and this   is like 90 of the time but sometimes the pressure  builds faster than those two tanks can release it   and that's when you show it externally no i just  increase how fast i can release pressure by like   stimming or getting a break from the stimulus  and that's the other like 9.999 of the time   usually the only time that i change the pressure  in tank one what you see externally is when the   situation calls for me to appear more agitated  three tanks just for the sake of complexity   doesn't make it better sometimes i'm in places  where i can't stand like an airplane with two kids   so as that pressure is building as it gets up to  be around like a six or a seven i cut off tank two   i'm going to hold the pressure in tank one and i  can tell that i'm getting more agitated but i'm   not allowing myself to feel it and that's to keep  it from spilling over into tank three so that's   what we should work on just because i'm aware of  a situation does not mean that it happens a lot   i find ways to limp along until i can get a break  and take care of myself the problem is when the   pressure is building i have it under control but  then i'm caught off guard like when a few big   things happen in a short amount of time and i'm  not able to tighten the valve between tanks one   and two so it spills over into two and then into  three and that's usually when i snip i think hold   on that's fine because i'm very quick to apologize  and recalibrate and it doesn't happen often   the real big problem is when i'm holding that  pressure in and like a few big things happen or   something really big happens like my kid screaming  in an enclosed space where pressure skyrockets and   tank one past its capacity spills over to two then  spills over into three and that's when i shout   that's when i have a hard time recalibrating and  it doesn't happen often like nowhere near like it   used to but i want it to never happen so that's  where i'd like to start can we focus on that i just don't care for the three tank  thing one is so much easier to understand sure do sound a lot like colonizers some people's  dietary practices have a lot to do with their   also they're ableist a lot of people  don't think about this but a lot of vegan   activists are ableist because i've had vegans  literally tell me to my face that i should   commit kamikaze because i cannot be vegan due  to my disabilities i'm allergic to nuts soy and   all fruits and vegetables which is what vegan  alternatives are made out of i would be vegan   or vegetarian if my stomach didn't suck because  also i need to have a low-fat high-protein diet   what what provides that meat i don't eat red  meat a lot because my stomach can't process   red meat but i do eat a lot of chicken  i eat chicken probably about once a day   i eat a lot of chicken because it's the only  thing that doesn't hurt my stomach and doesn't   make me throw up so yeah vegan activists are  also ableist furthermore i can't have fiber   people with gastroparesis cannot have fiber and  a lot of vegan substitutes are full of fiber special delivery   so foreign you
